Chapter 428: Never Hiding From You

As the slightly amused voice echoed through the area, a figure slowly stepped out from within the spatial rift.

This person was none other than Yang Haoran, who had rushed back from Ancheng with the fastest possible speed.

Originally, Yang Haoran had been feeling quite uneasy, unsure of the situation here, worried whether the disheveled man had unleashed a massacre in his villa.

However, when he saw the situation outside while still inside the spatial rift, his apprehension vanished entirely. There was no scene of rivers of blood, which was good news for him. It was precisely for this reason that a smile now graced his face.

Otherwise, if he had returned only to see bodies strewn everywhere, he surely wouldn't have been able to smile.

Yang Haoran's arrival finally allowed Old Master Wu to thoroughly breathe a sigh of relief. The taut nerves of the other Night Watchers present also relaxed with Yang Haoran's appearance.

"Boss!"

"Emissary of Death!"

Old Master Wu and the other Night Watchers present saluted Yang Haoran one after another. Xiujuan was no exception; she shed her murderous aura and respectfully bowed to Yang Haoran.

The disheveled man, who had just sat down, frowned slightly upon seeing Yang Haoran appear, then slowly rose from the ground.

The Night Watchers present once again tensed their nerves at the disheveled man's movement, but since Yang Haoran hadn't given an order, none of them acted rashly. Instead, they kept a constant watch on his every move.

The disheveled man ignored the Night Watchers surrounding him. His gaze was entirely drawn to Yang Haoran, because compared to Yang Haoran, an Emissary of Death, the Night Watchers present were like ants, utterly unworthy of his attention.

But Yang Haoran was different. In their previous battle, he had suffered a great loss at Yang Haoran's hands, eventually forced to tear through space to escape. Thus, he still held a deep fear of Yang Haoran in his heart.

"You've finally decided to show yourself. I thought you'd keep hiding, afraid to appear," the disheveled man said to Yang Haoran blandly.

Yang Haoran's face remained smiling, unchanged by the disheveled man's words. However, a response to the disheveled man was certainly necessary.

"You underestimate me too much. If it's just dealing with you, I can't find a reason to hide. Moreover, before you actively appeared today, our Lecheng Underworld Division had always been searching for your whereabouts. But you seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving no trace. I have to say, you're quite good at hide-and-seek."

Yang Haoran's words carried a strong sarcastic undertone, but everything he said was the truth. From their previous battle until now, he had never hidden from the disheveled man; on the contrary, he had been constantly searching for his traces. If anyone was hiding from someone, it was the disheveled man hiding from him, not the other way around. Otherwise, how could the disheveled man have vanished as if into thin air, leaving no trace whatsoever?

Despite saying this, Yang Haoran had no intention of underestimating the disheveled man. Compared to their previous encounter, the disheveled man's strength had significantly increased again.

The reason he could confirm this was because the disheveled man hadn't deliberately reined in his power fluctuations. From the power fluctuations emanating from him, his strength had indeed risen quite a bit since before.

However, although the disheveled man's strength had increased significantly, it still hadn't caught up to his own rate of improvement.

Of course, if his judgment was wrong, and the power fluctuations the disheveled man was currently exhibiting were not his full strength, and he was still concealing a portion of it, then that would naturally be another matter entirely.

"I came to find you today, not to bicker with you. I—"

The disheveled man had just begun to speak, before he could even finish his sentence, when a violent fluctuation suddenly erupted in the space beside Yang Haoran.

The sudden appearance of this situation instantly caused the disheveled man to stop mid-sentence. His gaze subconsciously darted towards Yang Haoran's side.

Yang Haoran's eyebrows twitched. This development was also beyond his expectation, but he showed no signs of panic. Instead, he too looked towards his side, not even attempting to dodge.

Although he didn't dodge, Yang Haoran remained highly vigilant internally. From the current situation, it seemed someone was about to tear through space and emerge. If the newcomer was one of his own, that would be fine. But if it was an enemy, he would be too passive if he had to hastily react, so he had to be on guard to cope with any sudden developments.

A rift opened in space, and then a massive head emerged from within it.

It was an enormous snake head, its white scales gleaming with a cold light. The moment the snake head emerged from the spatial rift, it opened its mouth and let out a hiss, then lunged towards the disheveled man's position. Its colossal snake body closely followed, bursting out of the spatial rift.

A massive white snake appeared in everyone's sight. This white snake was none other than the snake demon Bai Xue.

Normally, Bai Xue would have been carrying out an important mission assigned by the Spirit Police today, so she wasn't in the villa.

The location of this mission was remote, and cell phone signals were very poor; in many places, phones couldn't even receive a signal. Thus, she hadn't received Old Master Wu's distress message immediately.

It wasn't until a short while ago that she finally received Old Master Wu's plea for help. Upon learning that something serious had happened at the villa and that an enemy had come knocking, she immediately put down her task. After reporting the situation to Luo Dui, she rushed back without delay.

Bai Xue wasn't the only one performing this mission; Luo Dui was also present and leading the team. Luo Dui, upon learning of the trouble at Yang Haoran's villa, did not stop Bai Xue from leaving. However, due to their mission, they couldn't rush back to support Old Master Wu, so they could only let Bai Xue return first to lead the charge, with plans to support Old Master Wu at the villa once their mission was completed.

It was precisely for this reason that after Bai Xue's massive body burst forth from the spatial rift, the rift subsequently healed, and no one else emerged.

As for why Bai Xue reacted so intensely at this moment, charging out of the spatial rift and pouncing on the disheveled man, the answer was quite simple.

Bai Xue had nearly died at the hands of the disheveled man, who was a Demon Hunter. If Yang Haoran hadn't intervened, she, Bai Xue, would no longer exist in this world.

Bai Xue had kept this hatred deeply in her heart, and she had always wanted to redeem herself.

After she became a Spirit Police officer, not only was the Lecheng Underworld Division searching for the disheveled man, but the Lecheng Spirit Police were also looking for him, though without any progress. This made her feel incredibly regretful and disappointed.

And now, the disheveled man was right before her eyes. How could she miss such a perfect opportunity for revenge? Hence her extreme agitation.

Facing Bai Xue's attack, the disheveled man didn't simply surrender. He pulled the longsword stuck in the ground and swung it at the incoming Bai Xue.

A green sword light whistled forth, slashing directly towards Bai Xue's massive head.

Boom!

The sword light and the head collided, and after a deafening crash, a powerful impact spread outwards, sending all the Night Watchers who had surrounded the disheveled man flying.

The Night Watchers regained their balance, intending to seize this opportunity to attack the disheveled man, but Yang Haoran waved his hand, stopping them.

Though they didn't know what Yang Haoran was thinking, since he had given the order, they naturally wouldn't disobey him. They all distanced themselves from the disheveled man, expanding the encirclement considerably. Within this enlarged circle were only the disheveled man and Bai Xue.

The sword light shattered, and a shallow wound appeared on Bai Xue's snake head, a trickle of fresh blood flowing from it.

In this initial clash, it appeared Bai Xue had fallen to the disadvantage, with the disheveled man gaining the upper hand. However, the sight of her own blood flowing did not instill any fear in Bai Xue. Instead, it ignited the ferocity deep within her.

Things were different now. Bai Xue's strength was no longer what it once was. A small injury did not mean she couldn't slay her opponent; she had great confidence in her current power.
