Chapter Four Hundred and Twenty: Yin Tea
Master Jiang did not conceal anything from Yang Haoran. He recounted everything that had happened to him since he arrived in the Underworld.
When he first arrived in the Underworld, Luo Yao hadn't erased Master Jiang's memories, but he had given Master Jiang a preventative warning.
Master Jiang knew what could be said and what could not, so he immediately made a promise to Luo Yao.
The subsequent process was simple. With Luo Yao, the Guardian, personally intervening, it was smooth sailing all the way. Many procedures were entirely skipped due to Luo Yao's involvement, and in no time at all, Master Jiang became a Ghost Official of the Underworld.
As for Luo Yao, he merely gave a quick instruction, then left Master Jiang with the relevant departments of the Underworld before disappearing to who knows where.
Given Luo Yao's status and position, it was naturally impossible for him to accompany Master Jiang running around. The fact that he gave a heads-up to the relevant Underworld departments was already showing considerable respect.
Master Jiang's ability to become a Ghost Official was only partly due to him dedicating his life to the Yin Division when he was alive. The more crucial reason was Luo Yao's personal intervention.
If Luo Yao hadn't contacted the relevant Underworld departments, given Master Jiang's contributions to the Yin Division during his lifetime, there was still a high probability he could have become a Ghost Official. However, it would have been only a high probability, not a 100% certainty.
However, once Luo Yao, the Guardian, personally intervened, the situation naturally became entirely different.
In Luo Yao's eyes, both he and Master Jiang were mere small fries, yet the other party had kept his promise and genuinely allowed Master Jiang to become a Ghost Official. This was quite rare. If it were some other Guardians, they likely wouldn't have considered it important at all, much less wasted their time on such a matter.
After explaining how he became a Ghost Official, Master Jiang then shared some of his experiences and interesting anecdotes since taking on the role. The two chatted and laughed, and before they knew it, they had arrived at Master Jiang's residence.
Although Master Jiang's residence wasn't as large as Yang Haoran's villa in the mortal realm, it still spanned over two hundred square meters. Living in such a spacious house alone was quite luxurious, at least for the lowest-ranking ghosts in the Underworld; it was an extremely extravagant dwelling.
Most importantly, this residence hadn't cost Master Jiang a single Underworld Currency. It was a welfare benefit provided by the Underworld to its Ghost Officials.
After inviting Yang Haoran to sit down, Master Jiang brewed a pot of tea for him.
Just as Yang Haoran was still wondering why Master Jiang, despite wearing an artificial body, would also need to drink tea, Master Jiang poured him a cup. Gazing at the tea before him, Yang Haoran's expression subtly stiffened, and a flicker of surprise passed through his eyes.
This cup of tea was different from any Yang Haoran had drunk in the mortal realm. Tea in the mortal realm, at most, gave off a faint wisp of steam. But the tea Master Jiang had poured for him now wasn't releasing any heat; instead, it was visibly emitting black Yin Qi, and the tea itself was also jet black.
"This is. . . " Yang Haoran first glanced at the tea before him, then turned his gaze to Master Jiang. The surprise in his eyes didn't lessen; instead, it grew a few shades stronger.
"This is a type of Yin Tea that contains Pure Yin Qi," Master Jiang explained with a smile. "When steeped in water, it releases a certain amount of Pure Yin Qi. Long-term consumption is quite beneficial for those of us in the Yin Division."
Yang Haoran truly hadn't known about Yin Tea before. Although he knew that Soul Pills weren't the only treasures in this world capable of releasing Pure Yin Qi, he genuinely had no idea that something like Yin Tea even existed.
Noticing the surprise in Yang Haoran's eyes, Master Jiang said with a smile, "Go on, have a taste, and see how it feels."
Yang Haoran didn't stand on ceremony. After nodding with a smile, he picked up the teacup before him and lightly sipped the black liquid within.
It was icy cold upon entering his mouth. Immediately afterwards, Yang Haoran distinctly felt a wisp of Pure Yin Qi spreading through his body, which was then absorbed and transformed into the Spirit Power within him.
However, the Pure Yin Qi released by that sip of tea was not much; it was only a faint trace.
"Yin Tea is different from mortal realm tea leaves," Master Jiang continued. "To perfectly release the Pure Yin Qi within Yin Tea, you can't use boiling water. Instead, you need to brew it with ice water; only then can the Pure Yin Qi in the Yin Tea be fully released. However. . ."
At this point, Master Jiang's face took on a slightly embarrassed expression.
"However, what? " Yang Haoran asked, a touch of confusion in his smile.
"However, this Yin Tea is merely the lowest grade," Master Jiang chuckled. "Heh heh, I wanted to get some better Yin Tea to treat you, but Yin Tea is simply too expensive. With my current means, I can only afford this lowest-grade Yin Tea."
Hearing Master Jiang's explanation, a smile appeared on Yang Haoran's face.
"Master Jiang, you're being too polite," Yang Haoran said. "I came to reminisce with you, not to mooch a meal. Just being able to sit here and chat with you, I'm already very content. What you use to treat me truly isn't important. Besides, this Yin Tea of yours is quite remarkable. I've never seen anything like it before, nor even heard of it."
Master Jiang also chuckled, then said, "Although this Yin Tea of mine is the lowest grade, its selling price is still quite high. Higher-quality Yin Tea, on the other hand, commands ridiculously exorbitant prices. But their high cost is justified, as superior Yin Tea releases a far richer concentration of Pure Yin Qi, something my low-grade tea can't compare to."
After speaking, Master Jiang took a small sip of the Yin Tea before him, then continued, "From what I've heard, some special-grade Yin Teas, just a small cup, contain enough Pure Yin Qi to rival a Soul Pill. However, I haven't personally seen such Yin Tea, so I can't be certain if it's truly as potent as they say."
One cup of Yin Tea equivalent to one Soul Pill—Master Jiang's words still astonished Yang Haoran. He knew full well how much Pure Yin Qi a Soul Pill could unleash. For his current self, the Pure Yin Qi burst forth from each Soul Pill was quite astounding.
Yet, Master Jiang was now telling him that each cup of special-grade Yin Tea released Pure Yin Qi comparable to a Soul Pill. How could he not be surprised? He could hardly imagine what kind of Yin Tea could possibly achieve such a feat.
Seeing that Yang Haoran's astonishment was even stronger than before, Master Jiang quickly explained with a laugh, "I've only heard about it; who knows if it's true or not. You absolutely shouldn't take it as gospel."
Upon hearing this, Yang Haoran smiled and nodded gently at Master Jiang.
The reason he nodded at Master Jiang wasn't that he disbelieved the existence of such Yin Tea in the world, but simply to humor Master Jiang.
Based on his understanding of Master Jiang, Master Jiang wasn't the type to speak carelessly. Since Master Jiang said so, then it was more than likely true.
"The Underworld truly has a lot of good stuff," Yang Haoran said with a smile. "I'm realizing more and more now that Underworld Currency is far more useful than New Beginning Coins from the mortal realm."
Master Jiang chuckled, then took a sip of tea and continued, "That depends on how you look at it. New Beginning Coins in the mortal realm also have many uses. If used in the right way, they can still create considerable value."
Master Jiang's words instantly gave Yang Haoran a feeling of enlightenment.
Yang Haoran was currently very short on Underworld Currency, but he wasn't lacking New Beginning Coins. If he could maximize the value of his New Beginning Coins and put them to full use, he might genuinely gain unexpected benefits.
Thinking of this, Yang Haoran couldn't help but develop a renewed interest in his vast sum of New Beginning Coins. However, he didn't ponder the matter further in the current setting. He decided that once he returned to the mortal realm, he would reconsider and fully utilize the New Beginning Coins he possessed.
Taking a sip of the Yin Tea from his cup, and feeling the Pure Yin Qi it released, a hint of enjoyment appeared on Yang Haoran's face.
Only then did he continue, addressing Master Jiang, "Master Jiang, I have something I'd like to ask you about."
"Heh heh, what's all this talk about 'asking' between you and me? " Master Jiang said with a laugh. "You can ask me anything you want to know. As long as it's not a secret the Underworld forbids revealing, I can tell you."
