Chapter 287: Is My Remnant Moon Beautiful?
The snake demon was enveloped in a layer of green light. When Yang Haoran stopped before her, the green light dissipated, and she reverted to her human form.
She still wore the same simple clothes and possessed the same exquisite beauty, but compared to before, her complexion was now somewhat pale, and there was even a trace of blood at the corner of her lips.
Gazing at Yang Haoran, the snake demon offered a charming smile, though at this moment, it appeared rather unnatural.
Her heart fluttered with unease. She worried Yang Haoran might strike, and so, the thought of fleeing took root in her mind.
With the Demon Sealing Talisman destroyed by Yang Haoran, she had regained her freedom. She was like a bird freed from its cage, the sky vast and open for her to soar. As long as she escaped this place, she could go anywhere.
Observing the unnatural smile on the female demon's face, Yang Haoran took a deep drag from his cigarette. Beside him, Yin Qi suddenly churned, and his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, slowly emerged from the dark energy, hovering above his shoulder, spinning gently.
Seeing this, the female demon's smile froze, and she instinctively took a step back.
"Underworld Official, sir, is this. . . " the female demon's smile became strained as she questioned him.
"Do you find my Remnant Moon beautiful? " Yang Haoran asked with a smile.
However, the snake demon was no fool, and she soon understood the meaning behind Yang Haoran's words.
Yang Haoran was reminding her, or rather, threatening her. If she truly tried to escape, then Yang Haoran would undoubtedly greet her with this Remnant Moon.
Sensing the powerful energy fluctuations emanating from the Remnant Moon, the snake demon abandoned the idea of escaping. She was very weak at the moment, so she had no confidence in her ability to flee from Yang Haoran's grasp.
If she insisted on escaping, she would likely lose her life.
Looking at Yang Haoran's gentle smile, the snake demon, though her own smile was forced, immediately gave an affirmative answer.
"It's truly beautiful, Underworld Official, sir. This Soul Armament is simply brimming with aesthetic appeal. I've never seen anything so stunning."
Yang Haoran smiled and nodded, saying, "As long as you like it, that's all that matters. I was just worried you wouldn't."
No sooner had he spoken than Yang Haoran prepared to bring up their transaction. After all, he had done his part, and it was time for the snake demon to deliver on her end.
However, just as he was about to speak, he suddenly sensed a powerful energy fluctuation rapidly approaching his location.
Judging by the strength of these fluctuations, Yang Haoran guessed the newcomer might be Zhou Fudui, but he couldn't be entirely sure, so he reluctantly put aside the thought of demanding his reward from the snake demon for the time being.
"Underworld Official, sir, someone's coming."
The snake demon also sensed the faint energy fluctuations emanating from the approaching figure and thus warned Yang Haoran.
The snake demon secretly hoped the newcomer would be Yang Haoran's enemy, giving her a chance to slip away. Of course, she dared not show this thought on her face, instead feigning a kind warning to Yang Haoran.
Yang Haoran smiled and nodded, saying, "Indeed, someone is here. However, I wonder who it could be."
In truth, Yang Haoran knew very well that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, it would definitely be Zhou Fudui, but he deliberately spoke this way.
The snake demon smiled in response, her expression unchanged, but in her heart, she prayed that the newcomer would indeed be Yang Haoran's adversary.
In a mere moment, Zhou Fudui's figure appeared in the distance. Wielding his Copper Coin Sword, he covered the remaining distance in a few swift leaps, arriving not far from Yang Haoran.
The moment he appeared, Zhou Fudui had no time to address Yang Haoran, as his gaze was instantly drawn to the snake demon.
The snake demon's beauty left Zhou Fudui momentarily stunned. He had never in his life seen such a beautiful woman; a single glance was enough to plunge him into the depths of her exquisite allure.
Just then, the Copper Coin Sword in Zhou Fudui's hand suddenly trembled and emitted a resonant hum. He instantly awoke from his trance, his expression changing. The infatuation vanished from his face, replaced by a vigilant expression, and he instinctively took a step back.
"What a. . . what a formidable demon! " Zhou Fudui spoke with a serious expression, though to what aspect of her power he referred, it was impossible to tell.
Although he had confirmed the snake demon's identity as a demon, Zhou Fudui did not act rashly, as Yang Haoran was still present.
"Emissary Yang, what's going on here? " Zhou Fudui swept his gaze around the surroundings, then asked Yang Haoran.
There were obvious signs of a struggle, and from the scene, the fighting seemed quite intense. Zhou Fudui was not a participant, so he could only question Yang Haoran.
The moment Zhou Fudui spoke, the snake demon's heart sank in disappointment. She had hoped the newcomer would be Yang Haoran's enemy, but from the current situation, it seemed this person was not the type she had wished for.
"This is a long story. How should I put it? " Yang Haoran said with a smile. He took another puff from his cigarette, organized his thoughts, and continued, "After I went up the mountain, I discovered a dilapidated wooden hut, and inside, a snake demon was trapped. I accidentally entered the hut, and the Demon Sealing Talisman attacked me, attempting to suppress and seal both the snake demon and me. Of course, I didn't want that to happen, so I expended a tremendous effort to destroy the Demon Sealing Talisman."
Yang Haoran's explanation gave Zhou Fudui a general understanding, but he still had some lingering questions. As for the snake demon, after hearing Yang Haoran's words, she couldn't help but glance at him, a flicker of disdain flashing in her eyes.
The reason for her disdain was that Yang Haoran's words were simply too false. Leaving aside other aspects, his account of destroying the Demon Sealing Talisman alone left her speechless.
What did he mean by "expended a tremendous effort?"
She had been present the entire time. The one who had expended tremendous effort was *her*, not Yang Haoran. Yang Haoran hadn't even given it his all; how could he call that "tremendous effort?"
Though she inwardly scorned Yang Haoran's claim, the snake demon wasn't foolish enough to argue aloud. She maintained a smile and said nothing, her mind busy devising a plan to escape.
"With the Demon Sealing Talisman gone, the snake demon is also free. So, how should we deal with her now?"
Zhou Fudui felt a bit strange, as Yang Haoran and the snake demon weren't fighting, and it seemed they wouldn't for a while. This left him very puzzled. Could they have known each other before?
Upon hearing Zhou Fudui's words, the snake demon was startled, and at the same time, felt incredibly aggrieved. This feeling of her life being held in another's grasp made her deeply uncomfortable.
Even more pitifully, to avoid provoking Yang Haoran, she had to maintain her smile and dared not utter a single harsh word.
Zhou Fudui's gaze shifted to Yang Haoran, and the snake demon likewise fixed her eyes on him. Both were eager for his reply, keenly awaiting his answer to the question.
"This snake demon is still useful to me, so I didn't kill her. I plan to take her home with me," Yang Haoran said with a smile.
Hearing this, the snake demon's expression changed. This was not the outcome she desired.
Yang Haoran felt too dangerous to her. She didn't want to spend a long time with him; it would keep her nerves constantly on edge, which, to her, was a form of misfortune and torture.
Moreover, what if Yang Haoran harbored ill intentions and decided to kill her? With her current strength, she would be powerless to resist Yang Haoran. The only outcome left for her would be death!
At this moment, her most ideal outcome was to complete the transaction with Yang Haoran here, then immediately leave, settling their accounts and having no further dealings with each other.
But Yang Haoran's words shattered this hope in her heart.
Zhou Fudui's expression also changed upon hearing Yang Haoran's words. In his view, the best course of action right now was to eliminate the snake demon to prevent future trouble. Taking her back was absolutely out of the question!
"Emissary Yang, you must think this through. She is a demon, not a human. If you're negligent and she escapes, who knows how many ordinary people will be harmed because of it? " Zhou Fudui advised Yang Haoran with a serious expression.
No sooner had Zhou Fudui spoken than Yang Haoran had a chance to respond. The snake demon was clearly displeased; her smile vanished from her face, and her expression turned grim.
"What do you mean by that? Are you humans so precious? It's true I eat people, but don't you humans eat meat too? Besides, the ones I've devoured either willingly offered themselves or actively provoked me. If they sought death, I merely granted their wish. What have I done wrong?"
