Chapter 273: Seeing Zhong Siyu Again

Yang Haoran's warning made Vice-captain Zhou's expression grow colder, for from Yang Haoran's tone, the newcomer was likely an enemy, not a friend.

"No matter who they are, I ask Emissary Yang to buy me some time. I want to personally slaughter this bastard in front of me!"

Yang Haoran's smile stiffened, but he still nodded with a small smile.

"The newcomer is strong; you'd best be quick."

"Many thanks."

No sooner had Vice-captain Zhou's words fallen than the Evil Spirit opposite him struck first, before he even had a chance to act.

The Evil Spirit violently swung both its arms, and the Blackwater Pool below immediately began to boil. Streams of pitch-black water condensed into arrows, continuously shooting upwards.

His attack engulfed both Yang Haoran and Vice-captain Zhou.

Although Vice-captain Zhou hadn't seized the initiative, he was not unprepared.

Facing this situation, Vice-captain Zhou let out a cold snort. With a stomp of his right foot in the air, not only were the shooting water arrows shattered by his kick, but even the surface of the Blackwater Pool below him bore a deep imprint from his foot.

A large quantity of black water surged out of the Blackwater Pool, spreading in all directions, drenching the ground, and staining the weeds and trees black. The entire area looked as if it had suddenly been doused with thick, viscous black ink.

Yang Haoran had initially intended to act, but seeing Vice-captain Zhou effortlessly break the Evil Spirit's attack, he naturally wouldn't waste his Spirit Power.

"Emissary Yang, leave this to me!"

Hearing this, Yang Haoran nodded, his figure flickering as he returned to the ground.

The moment he left the area above the Blackwater Pool, the three Spirit Police officers also made their move, their targets unanimously focused on the male Evil Spirit.

Like Vice-captain Zhou, these three Spirit Police officers were all Exorcists. Each of them brought out their strongest magic implements, seizing the opportunity the instant the male Evil Spirit's attack was thwarted, and simultaneously launched an assault on him.

However, their strength was limited. Even though they had brought out their strongest magic implements and used their most powerful techniques, they didn't inflict much damage on the Evil Spirit.

The immense disparity in power made their attacks seem utterly futile, like an infant's punch landing on an adult—neither painful nor itchy.

Nevertheless, while their attacks didn't cause significant harm to the male Evil Spirit, they did tie him down for a few breaths of time. And within those few breaths, Vice-captain Zhou did something different from the three of them.

Vice-captain Zhou was seen forming hand seals, muttering incantations. Then, with an open-mouthed exhale, a Copper Coin Sword, no longer than a finger, shot out from his mouth.

After shooting out from Vice-captain Zhou's mouth, the Copper Coin Sword instantly enlarged, transforming into a short sword about a meter long.

Both the blade and the hilt of this sword were constructed from copper coins, fixed together by a red string. Though it appeared unremarkable, this Copper Coin Sword emanated a powerful surge of energy.

Yang Haoran had seen this Copper Coin Sword before. When he first met Vice-captain Zhou, the two had exchanged blows, and the implement Vice-captain Zhou had conjured at the time was precisely this Copper Coin Sword.

However, the Copper Coin Sword Vice-captain Zhou controlled back then was formed by the power within his body, not a true magic implement. But the one he now spat out was indeed a genuine magic implement.

So-called magic implements are entities capable of enhancing a user's attack or defense. Additionally, there are some magic implements that possess special abilities.

However, typically only Exorcists use magic implements, as many of their learned techniques require them to enhance their power. For instance, the Underworld Office relies on Spirit Power to combat foes, possessing Soul Armaments after opening their souls. Talisman Masters, on the other hand, use talismans, which are their strongest means, so they rarely employ magic implements in battle.

After the Copper Coin Sword was brought out, the male Evil Spirit had just managed to strike away the three Spirit Police officers' magic implements. Before he could deliver a killing blow to them, he sensed an incoming danger.

In a moment of urgency, the male Evil Spirit didn't even glance to see where the danger originated, his body flashing rapidly to the side.

Although the male Evil Spirit's reaction speed was swift, Vice-captain Zhou's Copper Coin Sword was swifter still. A golden flash passed, and one of his arms was severed by the Copper Coin Sword.

The moment the arm detached from the male Evil Spirit's body, it immediately weathered away, leaving not even a bone.

Losing an arm wouldn't affect the male Evil Spirit's movements, as his true body was a Spirit Body; he was merely possessing his own corpse at the moment.

However, this male Evil Spirit seemed to have a particular fondness for his physical body. Otherwise, he wouldn't have chosen to possess it. Now that his physical body had an arm severed, his expression immediately turned grim.

Vice-captain Zhou's sword strike not only severed the male Evil Spirit's arm, but the powerful energy released by the Copper Coin Sword simultaneously harmed the Evil Spirit's Spirit Body, causing the male Evil Spirit's hatred for Vice-captain Zhou to instantly peak.

"You destroyed my physical body and wounded my Spirit Body! Today, you won't leave here alive!"

Vice-captain Zhou paid no mind to the male Evil Spirit's threat. His reply came in another flash of golden light as the Copper Coin Sword, under Vice-captain Zhou's control, changed direction and once again slashed towards the male Evil Spirit.

At this moment, Yang Haoran had no mind to concern himself with the battle between Vice-captain Zhou and the Evil Spirit. He wiped the smile from his face, his gaze fixed in one direction.

Beside him, a mass of Yin Qi was violently swirling, and within this Yin Qi was his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon.

A moment later, Yang Haoran's eyes narrowed.

"It's here."

No sooner had the thought fallen in his mind than a dense mass of Yin Qi appeared in his line of sight.

This mass of Yin Qi ignored the trees, like a black cloud, rapidly approaching the location of the Blackwater Pool with extreme speed.

Yang Haoran was well-prepared. He had long known that the newcomer was a ghostly entity, and as an Emissary of Death for the Underworld Office, there was naturally nothing to say when encountering a powerful ghost—just get it done.

Under his control, Remnant Moon emitted a hum, then transformed into a black streak of light and slashed towards the incoming Yin Qi.

Boom!

The incoming Yin Qi was directly split in two by Remnant Moon's terrifying power, and the large trees behind the Yin Qi fell in swathes.

Through his own perception of Yin Qi, Yang Haoran knew this ghostly entity was exceedingly formidable, which was why he immediately deployed his Soul Armament, Remnant Moon, with no intention of holding back.

Although it was just a single move, its impact was considerable. Even Vice-captain Zhou and the three others, who were currently locked in battle with the Evil Spirit, were startled by the immense commotion Yang Haoran created.

A whooshing sound filled the air as Remnant Moon returned to Yang Haoran's side, hovering and slowly rotating.

The mass of Yin Qi that had been split in two by Remnant Moon also re-coalesced at this moment.

"Uncle, your attacks are truly vicious. Do you want to kill me?"

A deranged voice emerged from the Yin Qi. Besides its madness, the voice also carried a hint of bloodlust.

Yang Haoran's gaze hardened. This voice was deeply imprinted in his memory, one he would never forget. Among everyone he knew, only one person spoke with such madness, such bloodlust.

Sure enough, the Yin Qi dispersed, revealing a blood-red figure: a young girl, clad in blood-red robes, floated in the air. Dense Yin Qi coiled around her Spirit Body, and drops of fresh blood dripped from her blood-red clothing, then transformed into Yin Qi and dissipated.

This person was none other than Zhong Siyu, whom he hadn't seen since their parting at the Ghost Building.

Yang Haoran could surmise a ghostly entity's strength by sensing the intensity of its Yin Qi, but he couldn't ascertain its identity. This was true not just for ghosts, but for people too.

Thus, just now, he only knew that a powerful ghostly entity was rapidly approaching their location, but he had no way of knowing who it was.

Now, with the Yin Qi dispersed, the revealed figure was none other than Zhong Siyu. He was genuinely astonished. He hadn't expected to encounter this utterly deranged girl here again.

The serious expression on Yang Haoran's face vanished, replaced by a gentle smile.

Though his smile was gentle, his inner vigilance had not only failed to decrease but had significantly intensified compared to before.

Yang Haoran was so wary because, in his heart, Zhong Siyu was an extremely dangerous existence. She was a lunatic; you never knew what she might do. Even though Zhong Siyu had fallen under his Enchantment Art, he remained full of caution towards her.
