Chapter 271: Yin Condensation in the Water

The three Spirit Police, including Zhou Fudui, all showed expressions of deep grief. For them, the other Spirit Police were not just colleagues, but brothers who had faced life and death together. Their deaths weighed heavily on the four of them.

Although they had known of their deaths before arriving, seeing their bodies firsthand still made it incredibly difficult to accept.

Two of the Spirit Police were already dead. The reason they could move, speak, and even commit acts of violence like normal people was entirely because they were being controlled by a powerful force.

Judging by the intense Yin Qi emanating from them, the entities controlling them had to be powerful ghosts.

Among ghosts, ordinary Spirits and Evil Spirits simply didn't possess this capability. To have such control, one would need to at least reach the Evil Spirit level.

This means that the ghosts currently control the deceased Spirit Police were, at minimum, Evil Spirits (Evil Spirits).

The other three Spirit Police were still immersed in their grief and hadn't realized this, but Zhou Fudui was different. Though his heart was heavy, he also recognized the seriousness of the situation.

Just as he was about to warn the three Spirit Police to be careful, the surface of the Blackwater Pool suddenly parted, and a black shadow shot out towards one of the Spirit Police.

At the same time, the Yin Qi on the two Spirit Police bound by chains suddenly intensified by more than double. Their struggles became more violent, and the chains clanged continuously, showing signs of shattering.

Yang Haoran didn't concern himself with the two bound individuals. Even if their internal power increased, it was unrealistic for them to immediately shatter the chains formed by his Spirit Power. So, his attention was focused entirely on the black shadow that had burst from the Blackwater Pool.

When the black shadow suddenly surged from the Blackwater Pool, Yang Haoran's face showed no surprise. He seemed to have anticipated this happening, and thus was prepared. The moment the black shadow shot towards the Spirit Police, even before the Spirit Police himself could react, Yang Haoran made his move!

Several black chains, as thick as arms, materialized out of thin air, forming a large net behind the Spirit Police. The black shadow crashed directly into this net.

The chains moved rapidly with a rattling sound, and this large net, formed by several chains, abruptly constricted, directly trapping the black shadow within.

This person was none other than another deceased Spirit Police officer.

This Spirit Police was completely drenched, his skin deathly pale, clearly having been submerged in the water for some time. Water plants clung to his body, and his entire form was enveloped in a dense layer of Yin Qi. Like the other two Spirit Police, his expression was savage and deranged, looking as if he wanted to devour someone.

"Zhou Fudui, I'll leave these three to you. I'm going down into the Blackwater Pool to investigate."

Although these three Spirit Police were dead, they had, after all, been Spirit Police in life. Yang Haoran didn't want to interfere with such matters, nor was it appropriate for him to. If he wasn't careful and damaged their remains, he wouldn't know how to explain it to the Spirit Police. So, he simply bound them and handed them over to Zhou Fudui, leaving the decision of how to handle them entirely up to him.

Even though the three were bound by chains, if Yang Haoran's attention wasn't on them, it was possible for the chains to break. However, he wasn't worried. He had witnessed Zhou Fudui's strength; even if the three shattered the chains, it wouldn't be difficult for Zhou Fudui to subdue them.

Yang Haoran's body flickered, hovering above the Blackwater Pool. He released his Spirit Power, forming a protective shield around himself, like an eggshell, to protect his entire body. This served two purposes: defense and waterproofing.

His body plunged into the pool, and in the blink of an eye, Yang Haoran's form disappeared beneath the surface.

Upon arriving at the Blackwater Pool, Yang Haoran had already sensed something strange about it. The Yin Qi here was simply too faint, which defied logic.

The three Spirit Police being controlled by ghosts indicated that the controlling entities were nearby, and very likely within this pool.

However, when he was outside the pool, he hadn't detected any ghostly presence, which was the strangest part.

Detecting the presence of ghosts primarily involved sensing the strong Yin Qi emanating from them. If one couldn't sense the Yin Qi emitted by their Spirit Body, then it was very difficult to perceive their existence.

With Yang Haoran's current strength, his Sense Yin ability was quite powerful. Yet, even he hadn't sensed any ghostly presence when outside the pool. Only when the Spirit Police who burst from the water rapidly approached did he finally sense Yin Qi from that Spirit Police.

After entering the pool, Yang Haoran's body sank rapidly. As he descended closer and closer to the bottom, a hint of surprise appeared on his face.

The water of the Blackwater Pool actually contained Yin Qi. The deeper he went, the denser the Yin Qi in the water became. But there was something strange: this Yin Qi seemed to be completely integrated into the water, with very little leakage.

This discovery immediately made Yang Haoran understand a key issue: the reason why only a faint layer of Yin Qi enveloped the Blackwater Pool's surface was precisely this.

Apart from a minuscule amount of leakage, all the Yin Qi here was locked within the Blackwater Pool. With the Yin Qi not dispersing outwards, the Yin Qi above the pool naturally became quite sparse.

This Blackwater Pool was much deeper than he had imagined. As Yang Haoran's body sank inch by inch, the surprise in his heart grew increasingly intense.

He was astonished not just by the depth of the pool, but also by its Yin Qi. The latter brought him far greater surprise than the former.

"How can the Yin Qi in this pool be so heavy?"

Yang Haoran was greatly astonished. He had never before encountered a place where the Yin Qi was so dense. Even the Ghost Building where Zhong Siyu was once trapped had Yin Qi far less concentrated than this.

The ghost controlling the bodies of the three Spirit Police was very likely an Evil Spirit, but Yang Haoran had seen Evil Spirits before. Zhong Siyu, for instance, was relatively strong among Evil Spirits, yet the Yin Qi in the Ghost Building where she resided was nowhere near this level.

Unless this Evil Spirit (evil Spirit) was far stronger than Zhong Siyu, and it was right here in the pool, only then could the pool's Yin Qi become so dense.

However, Yang Haoran found it hard to imagine how powerful this Evil Spirit (evil Spirit) would have to be to make the Yin Qi of this Blackwater Pool so intense.

Thinking of this, Yang Haoran became extremely vigilant, his expression turning serious. If this ghost was truly as formidable as he suspected, then his situation would be dangerous indeed!

The reason was simple: such a ghost was not something he, at his current realm, could afford to provoke. If he were to face such a ghost, he, the Emissary of Death, might very well be sent to his own funeral by the ghost.

Yang Haoran didn't immediately flee, and his body continued to sink, but he was already prepared for escape. If his opponent was truly as powerful as he suspected, he would tear through space and flee at the first opportunity.

Such an action would undoubtedly be shameful, but compared to his life, which was more important?

Yang Haoran didn't know what others would think or what choices they would make, but he knew he would make what he believed to be the correct choice.

Just as this thought crossed Yang Haoran's mind, he suddenly felt a power fluctuation rapidly approaching him.

Upon sensing the approaching power fluctuation, Yang Haoran's first thought was to retreat, as he certainly didn't want to lose his life here.

But in the next instant, he froze. It wasn't that his opponent had cut off his escape, but rather that this power fluctuation wasn't as terrifying as he had imagined.

This power fluctuation was certainly strong, but it was far from reaching the point where he would retreat without a fight.

This situation might be due to the opponent hiding their strength, or perhaps their strength was inherently limited, and he had simply overestimated their power from the start.

The immediate thought of fleeing was temporarily dismissed, but Yang Haoran didn't let down his guard. He remained ready to tear through space and escape at any moment.

A shadow shot up from below, moving incredibly fast. The water's resistance was nonexistent before it, and its target was Yang Haoran, who was continuously sinking.

Yang Haoran's expression was grave. He paused his descent.

"Ghost Eye, open!"
