Chapter 238: I Don't Learn well at a young age

The Night Watchers who had rushed over from other Death God Temples made choices that didn't surprise Yang Haoran. Whether pleased or displeased in their hearts, they all, without exception, chose to follow Yang Haoran.

They had initially chosen to become Night Watchers precisely to gain powers that ordinary people lacked. Now that they had tasted the sweetness that power brought them, how could they possibly be willing to give it up?

As they were unwilling to leave, Yang Haoran, naturally, wouldn't drive them away without reason. Moreover, he was currently short-handed, giving him even less cause to send these few people away.

Extracting the Death God Seals from their bodies, Yang Haoran then re-implanted his own Death God Seals into each of them. After that, he left the main hall, entrusting the finishing touches to Old Master Wu.

After returning to the convenience store, Yang Haoran did not go out or open for business for several days straight. Instead, he locked himself inside, dedicating all his effort to refining the powerful, yet not entirely his own, Death God Seal within his body.

Several days later, Yang Haoran opened the convenience store's door, not because he had fully refined the Death God Seal within him, but because he had received a call from Old Master Wu.

Old Master Wu said he had carefully selected a batch of new recruits and hoped Yang Haoran would personally review them. If they were suitable, as long as he, the Emissary of Death, bestowed the Death God Seal, they could immediately be put to use.

Because of this matter, Yang Haoran temporarily stopped refining the Death God Seal and opened the convenience store, which had been closed for several days again.

Compared to a few days ago, the Yin Qi swirling around Yang Haoran hadn't increased much, and the power fluctuations subtly emanating from him showed no obvious increase. He seemed not to have changed much.

But the truth was far from it. Compared to a few days ago, the Spirit Power within his body had greatly increased; he had simply concentrated this immense Spirit Power as much as possible within his body, which was why he seemed unchanged.

In addition to the significant increase in Spirit Power, his physical body had also been nourished by the large amount of vital energy contained within the Death God Seal. His skin had become much fairer and appeared more radiant than before.

Originally, he wanted to completely refine the Death God Seal in one go and then remove the impurities present in the Spirit Power. However, the matter of recruiting new people was urgent, so he had no choice but to temporarily halt the refinement of the Death God Seal and first deal with the recruitment.

The convenience store's door opened, and Old Master Wu was already respectfully standing outside.

Behind Old Master Wu stood a line of young people, both male and female, all relatively young and seemingly between twenty and thirty years old.

These young people were all quite good, whether in height or appearance. Standing ramrod straight behind Old Master Wu, they certainly exuded a certain aura.

It was evident that Old Master Wu had put a lot of effort into recruiting new people, as it would have been difficult to find these young people in just a few days otherwise.

However, these young people were all a bit nervous at the moment, a fact evident from their facial expressions and tense bodies.

When Yang Haoran opened the rolling shutter door, these young people became even more nervous. Fortunately, none of them were so nervous as to make a fool of themselves; their bodies simply tensed up further.

To avoid making Yang Haoran wait, Old Master Wu only called Yang Haoran once he had arrived at the convenience store. If Yang Haoran was busy, he would immediately take the people and leave; if Yang Haoran was free, then he wouldn't waste Yang Haoran's time waiting for them to arrive.

“Greetings, Emissary of Death! ”

As Yang Haoran appeared, Old Master Wu quickly bowed respectfully. The young people standing behind him didn't even have time to glance at Yang Haoran, and also quickly bowed.

“Greetings, Emissary of Death! ”

These young people had already deliberately lowered their voices, but speaking simultaneously, the sound was still quite loud, drawing curious glances from passersby.

On the way here, he had already considered this problem, so he had specifically instructed these young people that bowing to the Emissary of Death was certainly necessary, but because there were too many pedestrians passing by at this time, they should try to keep their voices down when bowing to avoid unnecessary trouble.

Although he had given instructions in this regard, the result still exceeded his expectations. He could tell these young people had deliberately lowered their voices, but he could also hear the nervousness in their voices.

Knowing things weren't good, Old Master Wu was just about to smooth things over when a curious and amused voice entered his ears.

“Yo, Little Yang, what in the world are you up to? ”

Yang Haoran, still somewhat dazed by the many curious glances, felt his face twitch upon hearing this voice, and then he looked to the side.

He saw a stout middle-aged woman standing outside the neighboring storefront, wearing a white lab coat. She was currently cracking sunflower seeds, spitting the shells all over the ground, and watching Yang Haoran, Old Master Wu, and the others with great interest.

This middle-aged woman was the owner of the pharmacy next door. Because their two shops were right next to each other, they had known each other for a long time.

“Big Sis, morning! ” Yang Haoran greeted her with a smile.

“It’s already past ten, how is that ‘morning’? ” The middle-aged woman shot Yang Haoran a glare and mumbled indistinctly. Then she spat out a mouthful of sunflower seed shells, her gaze landing on Old Master Wu and the others.

“What did they just call you, 'Emissary of Death'? Little Yang, it’s not like I haven’t told you before. Don’t spend your days messing with all that mumbo-jumbo. There are so many good things to do when you’re young, but you insist on dabbling in crooked ways and evil practices. It was one thing when you did it by yourself before, but now, look at you—your influence has actually grown to this extent! Don’t say Big Sis didn’t warn you: if you keep doing this and it blows up, you’ll be eating prison food! ”

The woman continued cracking sunflower seeds, all the while earnestly lecturing Yang Haoran.

Yang Haoran’s face was full of awkward smiles, his expression, caught between laughter and tears, was truly a sight to behold.

Old Master Wu’s heart trembled. He had never dreamed that such a character would suddenly burst forth. Unsure of the exact relationship between this middle-aged woman and Yang Haoran, he dared not speak rashly. He could only pray silently, praying that the woman would be merciful with her words and say less.

As for the young men and women behind Old Master Wu, their faces were utterly bewildered. They had no idea what was happening, or why things had suddenly devolved to this point.

“Big Sis, you’ve misunderstood, I—”

Yang Haoran had not yet finished speaking when he was interrupted by the middle-aged woman. The woman spat out a mouthful of sunflower seed shells to the side, then revealed an expression that said, “I know everything. ”

“Misunderstood or not, don’t I know? It’s not like we met yesterday. Who on this street isn’t aware of all the shady things you do? Why, at such a young age, do you insist on not learning good ways? Look at this old man, already so old, and he’s still been conned by you. And look at these handsome guys and beautiful girls, tsk tsk, so handsome, so pretty, what a shame, what a shame! ”

Watching the woman shake her head and sigh with lament, the awkwardness on Yang Haoran’s face intensified. He was worried the woman would say something even more terrible and quickly started to explain.

“Big Sis, you really misunderstood. I recently opened a company, and they are all my employees. The reason they call me Emissary of Death is—”

Yang Haoran intended to explain, but before he could finish, he was again interrupted by the woman.

When the woman heard he had opened a company, her eyes immediately lit up, and she spoke with a shocked expression: “Really? You really opened a company? ”

These words were merely spoken subconsciously by the woman. Only after the words left her mouth did she react, her gaze towards Yang Haoran filling with disbelief.

“Alright, alright, stop messing with me. Don’t I know your circumstances? What company, what not company—this old lady was almost conned by you again. People choose their own paths; whatever you like to do has little to do with me. It’s just that I don’t want to see you go inside at such a young age, so it’s better if you turn back soon. ”

After saying these words, the middle-aged woman spat out another mouthful of sunflower seed shells, then waddled her stout body back into the pharmacy, leaving behind Yang Haoran, whose face was full of awkwardness, wanting to explain but without any further chance to do so.
