Chapter 1480: Founding a Nation and Becoming Emperor (Part 2)

Day after day passed. Under the full treatment of the Medicine God Society, Hou Yu and Lei Bao successively emerged from treatment. When they walked out of the Medicine God Society, their injuries had completely recovered; not only were no after-effects left, but even the lingering effects from past battles were also healed. While delighted by this, both men were utterly awestruck by the Medicine God Society. The two even thought to themselves that if they also had an organization like the Medicine God Society, composed of Pharmacists, under their command, then the overall strength of their forces would definitely rise by several levels, and their territories would also expand as a result. Perhaps they wouldn't have lost the great battle surrounding Half-Moon Island. But the problem was that they didn't have such an organization under them.

The two men, having emerged from the Medicine God Society, were most concerned about their forces under their command. Although Yang Haoran had made a promise not to sideline them, their worries wouldn't simply vanish because of a single promise from Yang Haoran; they still harbored a considerable amount of concern.

The outcome relieved both men. Yang Haoran had indeed fulfilled his promise, not having tampered with anything during their recovery period. Just as Yang Haoran had promised, Old Master Wu had merely reorganized and integrated their personnel, giving their subordinates an identity they had never possessed before, an identity belonging to Half-Moon Island. There were no large-scale personnel transfers, so naturally, there was no talk of sidelining the two of them.

The weight in their hearts lifted. As both men breathed a sigh of relief, their opinion of Yang Haoran shifted, or rather, their understanding of him deepened.

After emerging from treatment, the two men learned about the establishment of Half-Moon Island as a nation from their respective confidantes. Both were somewhat surprised. After all, founding a nation was no small matter, involving many complexities. But their surprise was merely that; it didn't reach the level of shock, nor did they feel that Yang Haoran was indulging in wishful thinking. Because, based on their understanding of Half-Moon Island, there truly was no problem with Yang Haoran wanting to establish a nation. Even though their understanding of Half-Moon Island was limited, from that limited understanding, they similarly believed that the founding of Half-Moon Island was not an issue.

After their emergence, both men took the initiative to meet with Yang Haoran. Although they felt somewhat awkward, even a bit unwilling, as subordinates, they had no choice but to do so. Otherwise, they would easily provide leverage for others, turning it into a sharp weapon against them. This would certainly bring them no benefit in the future, unless they were prepared to betray Yang Haoran – though they also knew that the consequences of betraying Yang Haoran would be far worse.

Under the full treatment of the Medicine God Society, their injuries had indeed fully recovered, that was true. But the two would not naively believe that simply recovering from their injuries meant they could contend with Yang Haoran. Nor would they foolishly assume that their two forces combined could contend with the entire Half-Moon Island. Knowing the stakes involved, how could the two dare to betray Yang Haoran? At least, neither of them harbored such a thought for the time being.

Since they weren't planning to betray him for the time being, as subordinates, after emerging from treatment, it was only natural that they went to pay their respects to Yang Haoran, their leader.

Upon meeting Yang Haoran, as subordinates, the two did not show excessive deference to him, nor did they give him any attitude, much less verbally abuse him. Even the hot-tempered Lei Bao managed to keep his mouth in check.

At this, Yang Haoran not only didn't get angry, but instead showered them with warm greetings and concern. It wasn't like a superior addressing subordinates; rather, it was as if long-lost friends were reuniting after many years, which made both Lei Bao and Hou Yu feel a little awkward.

Given the strength of Hou Yu and Lei Bao, there was absolutely no doubt they would join the ranks of Half-Moon Island's high-ranking officials. Therefore, even though the two had been in seclusion for healing, Yang Haoran had still reserved positions for them within the upper echelons. Since they were now high-ranking officials of Half-Moon Island, it was only natural for Yang Haoran to listen to their thoughts and opinions on certain matters. Thus, after a series of warm inquiries, Yang Haoran brought up the topic of Half-Moon Island establishing itself as a nation.

Yang Haoran had actually made a decision on this matter long ago. No matter what Hou Yu and Lei Bao thought about it, it wouldn't change the decision he had already made. The reason he consulted them was, on one hand, to show them directly how much he, Yang Haoran, valued them, thereby winning their loyalty. On the other hand, it was simply to hear their opinions on the matter.

The outcome was self-evident. Both men said that the establishment of the nation was feasible. As for suggestions, neither of them offered any.

Yang Haoran didn't care at all whether what the two said was sincere or mere pleasantries. Because whether their words were true or false, it wouldn't affect his decision.

Yang Haoran knew the main reason the two were perfunctory with him was that they hadn't truly recognized him yet. Therefore, they neither dared nor wished to speak their true thoughts to him.

To make the two truly recognize him as their leader would require the passage of time; it wasn't something that could happen in a day or two. Before they wholeheartedly accepted him, it was normal for them to be somewhat wary of him. Even speaking in pleasantries was good enough; at least they didn't directly oppose him. Therefore, he wouldn't feel dissatisfaction because of their wariness; he understood.

Moreover, Yang Haoran was confident that he could make the two devotedly loyal to him. However, this would take some time; he couldn't rush it, as being too eager would only have the opposite effect.

Even before Lei Bao and Hou Yu emerged from treatment, Yang Haoran had carefully considered how to arrange them, and had also discussed the matter with his trusted subordinates. Ultimately, he decided to establish two more Vice-President positions within the Flock of Demons Society, and these two Vice-President positions were naturally reserved for Lei Bao and Hou Yu, both Demon Saints.

Yang Haoran informed the two men of this. Although they expressed their gratitude, they did not show excitement. Yang Haoran could somewhat guess what the two were thinking, but he didn't say much about it, instead feigning ignorance of their thoughts.

For Yang Haoran, as long as the two didn't oppose his decision, that was enough. Whether they were happy or not now didn't matter. As long as he successfully stabilized them for the time being, he would have plenty of ways to make them happy in the future. He would even make them feel how honored they were to become Vice-Presidents of the Flock of Demons Society.

After Lei Bao and Hou Yu bid farewell to Yang Haoran, their appointments were subsequently issued. In accordance with Yang Haoran's wishes, both became Vice-Presidents of the Flock of Demons Society, and, at Yang Haoran's request, went to the Flock of Demons Society to report to Bai Xue.

As days passed one by one, a magnificent and imposing palace rose from the ground where Yang Haoran's former residence once stood. The palace occupied a vast area, dozens of times larger than Yang Haoran's former residence.

This palace was not merely Yang Haoran's new residence, but also the residence for all high-ranking officials of Half-Moon Island. Any high-ranking official of Half-Moon Island could be allocated their own residence within this palace. Depending on their status and position, the allocated areas naturally differed. The residences within the palace were not only luxuriously decorated, but, more importantly, held different significance, for they were symbols of status.

Aside from these residences, all of Half-Moon Island's important departments and special agencies were also moved into this palace, unifying their offices here. This palace thus became Half-Moon Island's truly most important location. After some deliberation, this palace acquired its own name: Night God Palace.

The day of the founding ceremony arrived as scheduled. The entire Half-Moon Island was immersed in an atmosphere of joy and excitement. As all the preliminary preparations had been thoroughly made, the founding ceremony proceeded smoothly and was a great success.

On a high platform within the Night God Palace, all high-ranking officials gathered. Yang Haoran stood at the center. Below, people swarmed densely, countless upon a single glance.

Those closest to the Night God Palace were people from Half-Moon Island's various organizations, while the outermost rings comprised ordinary citizens. Their sheer numbers were astounding; even standing on the high platform of the Night God Palace, one couldn't see their end with a single glance.

Under the watchful eyes of all, Yang Haoran announced the establishment of the Great Night Empire. His voice, amplified by power, reverberated far and wide for a long time, as if only his voice remained throughout the entire world.

As Yang Haoran's announcement faded, earth-shattering cheers erupted. Everyone's excitement reached its peak at this moment. From this moment forward, they had their own nation—their nation was the Great Night!
