Chapter 1427: Four Great Emperors Arrive

Luo Yao harbored quiet joy, for the Tong Continent Great Emperor was his mortal enemy. Their animosity had escalated to a point of no return, so naturally, he wished nothing more than for the Tong Continent Great Emperor to die as soon as possible.

Once the Tong Continent Great Emperor perished, no one would relentlessly hound him any longer. After all, the other three Great Emperors bore him no deep-seated animosity; they had no reason to pursue his absolute ruin.

Furthermore, with the death of the Tong Continent Great Emperor, only four of the Yin Division's Five Great Emperors would remain, severely impacting the entire Yin Division's strength. The Tong Continent Yin Division would undoubtedly descend into chaos, and at that point, no one would have the leisure to bother him. Even if they truly wanted to conclude his affair, they wouldn't go too far, let alone kill him. After all, the Yin Division had already lost one Great Emperor and could not afford to lose another, lest it invite attacks from hostile forces.

Beyond these reasons, the Tong Continent Great Emperor's death presented numerous advantages for Luo Yao. Though there were also drawbacks, the benefits far outweighed them, so how could he not be pleased?

However, this joy could not be openly displayed. The demise of a Great Emperor carried immense repercussions for the entire Yin Division, potentially even influencing whether hostile forces would launch an offensive against them. This affected everyone in the Yin Division. If Luo Yao showed too much delight, it would inevitably provoke dissatisfaction among the other Yin Division members. Currently, he was already at the eye of the storm; if this matter further alienated everyone, his situation would only worsen. Naturally, he wouldn't commit such a foolish act.

Of course, all of this hinged on Luo Yao's ignorance regarding Yang Haoran's involvement in the Tong Continent Great Emperor's death. If he knew, he probably wouldn't feel a shred of happiness.

Luo Yao did not connect the Tong Continent Great Emperor's death with Yang Haoran because he had never even considered Yang Haoran to be a match for the Tong Continent Great Emperor. To him, it was utterly impossible, so he hadn't thought in that direction.

In his estimation, the Tong Continent Great Emperor's death could have been orchestrated by a master from the Talisman Order, or perhaps by an expert among the Spirit Mediums. Besides individuals from these two factions, he had considered numerous other possibilities, but Yang Haoran was the one person he hadn't considered.

The Tong Continent Great Emperor's suggestion was adopted by the other three Great Emperors: to ascertain the truth of the situation, they had to journey to the Ninth District of the Jingling Continent Yin Division.

Unclear on the circumstances and to guard against potential ambushes, the four Great Emperors, after deliberation, decided to personally go, each accompanied by two Guardians. As the Tong Continent Yin Division now lacked a Great Emperor, it dispatched three Guardians—the three strongest individuals currently within its ranks.

If the enemy truly had an ambush prepared, with four Great Emperors personally present and eleven Guardians, their only recourse would be to flee. If they weren't even intimidated by such a formidable force, there would be no need for them to operate stealthily; they could simply sweep through all the Yin Division's Guardian Districts in the mortal realm. There would be no need for such trickery.

From the Jingling Continent's side, Luo Yao summoned Yongle and Xu Meijing. Xu Meijing maintained a cold expression; though she didn't agree, she didn't refuse either. As for why Luo Yao specifically called upon Xu Meijing, only he likely knew the true intention behind it.

The most awkward position belonged to Huo Laoban, Luo Yao's subordinate. He was originally Luo Yao's man, and after today's incident, the depth of Luo Yao's hatred for him was unfathomable. Naturally, he couldn't possibly be used again. He had actually considered this long ago and hadn't expected Luo Yao to use him again, because once Luo Yao fell, he wouldn't even have the authority to command him. Once Luo Yao fell, the Tong Continent Great Emperor would even assist him in ascending to the position of Great Emperor.

Everything had been meticulously planned. Both he and the Tong Continent Great Emperor believed the plan was foolproof; as long as they proceeded step by step according to the scheme, success was guaranteed. But he never could have imagined that the Tong Continent Great Emperor would merely visit Yang Haoran's Ninth District and actually lose his life. This unexpected turn came too suddenly, completely disrupting all his plans and leaving him in an awkward and dangerous predicament!

No one invited Huo Laoban to accompany them to Yang Haoran's Guardian District. Luo Yao wouldn't bring a traitor, and the other Great Emperors had no personal or vested interest in Huo Laoban, so naturally, they wouldn't take him along either. From the moment he stormed out of the conference room until everyone dispersed, not a single person even spared him a glance.

The four Great Emperors departed with their chosen Guardians, while the other Guardians, as per arrangements, immediately returned to their posts to prevent any feints from the enemy. Only Huo Laoban, the man accountable to no one, remained frozen in place.

Huo Laoban hovered in mid-air, utterly alone, with only the incessant, swirling snow seemingly mocking him. His face was grim, his eyes narrowed slightly, lost in an unknown contemplation.

"That Tong Continent Great Emperor truly is a useless wretch. Had I known, I never should have collaborated with him. With such an unforeseen turn, the position of Jingling Great Emperor is no longer within reach, but. . . the position of Tong Continent Great Emperor might just be worth vying for! " The Tong Continent Great Emperor thought this in his heart, then tore through space and departed.

As things stood, Huo Laoban knew that dethroning Luo Yao by himself was almost impossible, and replacing him was even more so. But the position of Tong Continent Great Emperor was different. Now that the current Tong Continent Great Emperor had fallen, leaving the position vacant, he felt it wasn't entirely impossible for him to claim it. Even if the probability was low, it certainly existed. However, he would have to make some preparations for it, otherwise the position of Tong Continent Great Emperor would never fall to him.

It was precisely because Huo Laoban understood this point clearly that he now tore through space and left the area, for he had to make extensive preparations and could not afford to waste a single moment.

The four Great Emperors opened the Ghost Gate, unable to directly descend into Yang Haoran's Ninth District, as they had not opened the Ghost Gate in Yang Haoran's Ninth District when they entered the Underworld.

While they could not directly descend into Yang Haoran's Ninth District via the Ghost Gate, descending into Jingling Continent posed no problem at all. After all, both Xu Meijing and Yongle could return directly to their own Guardian Districts through the Ghost Gate.

The spatial tethering technique that the Tong Continent Great Emperor had previously used on Yang Haoran was also known to Luo Yao. This technique could not be applied to too many people, but a dozen or so individuals posed no issue at all.

Since Xu Meijing's Guardian District was the closest to Yang Haoran's, the task of opening the Ghost Gate fell to her, as they all wished to reach Yang Haoran's Guardian District as quickly as possible.

Xu Meijing, with her characteristic cold aloofness, did not refuse. Without a word, she directly opened the Ghost Gate. With Luo Yao employing the spatial tethering technique, the entire group descended into Xu Meijing's Guardian District.

Upon arriving at Xu Meijing's Guardian District, the group did not linger. Luo Yao personally tore through space, leading everyone away. With his power as a Great Emperor, each teleportation covered a much greater distance, allowing them to reach Yang Haoran's Guardian District as swiftly as possible.

As a Great Emperor, Luo Yao chose to personally tear through space not only to reach Yang Haoran's Guardian District as quickly as possible but also for another crucial reason: he wanted to earn some credit. After all, his own matters had yet to be resolved, and earning some credit could only benefit him.

Of course, this so-called "earning credit" had absolutely nothing to do with the Guardians present. His target was the other three Great Emperors, for as a Great Emperor himself, there was no need for him to impress these Guardians.

The other three Great Emperors did not object to Luo Yao's actions. Under Luo Yao's smiling invitation, the three Great Emperors entered the spatial rift he had torn open. They understood his intentions, but they said nothing.

Seeing that the three Great Emperors not only accepted his gesture but also walked shoulder to shoulder into the spatial rift he had torn, Luo Yao quietly breathed a sigh of relief. He entered the spatial rift after them, and only after he had stepped inside did the assembled Guardians dare to follow.

Although Luo Yao had been impeached today, he was still a Great Emperor for the time being. How could they dare to enter the spatial rift before him, even if most of them held little respect for him?

Xu Meijing was the last to enter the spatial rift. Before stepping inside, her expression remained unchanged, as coldly aloof as ever, but she took a deep breath.

With Great Emperor Luo Yao personally tearing through space, even though Xu Meijing's Guardian District was far from Yang Haoran's, they quickly arrived in Lecheng. However, upon witnessing the situation in Lecheng, some faces registered astonishment, others knitted their brows in a deep frown, and still others turned visibly grim.

Xu Meijing's expression remained unchanged, but her fists clenched tightly.

The reason for everyone's reaction was the sea of flames they now beheld. Not only Yang Haoran's Guardian District but the entire city of Lecheng had been engulfed in a fiery inferno!
