Chapter 1411: Power Mysteriously Weakens

According to the Tong Continent Great Emperor's estimation, the vast number of talismans Yang Haoran had unleashed would undoubtedly be swept away with devastating force by his sword-shaped Soul Armament. The Talisman Dragon formed by these numerous talismans was nothing more than a flashy facade, all show and no substance. His sword-shaped Soul Armament might not have been so gaudy, but its power was undeniable, not something a Talisman Dragon could contend with.

Yet, reality once again defied his expectations. Not only was the Talisman Dragon, formed by a multitude of talismans, not crushed, but his own sword-shaped Soul Armament's power was mysteriously weakening.

In less than two breaths, the Tong Continent Great Emperor discovered that his sword-shaped Soul Armament's power had diminished by at least a quarter, and the weakening continued.

He didn't know how long this weakening of the sword-shaped Soul Armament's power would last, but for it to have decreased by a quarter in such a short span of two breaths was already unacceptable to him. If it continued for a few more breaths, would its power even be half of what it originally was?

"What new trick is this son of a bitch Yang Haoran playing on me now? What the hell has he done to these talismans!"

The Tong Continent Great Emperor cursed inwardly, his face instantly turning exceedingly grim. In his eyes, Yang Haoran must have tampered with these talismans; otherwise, such a bizarre situation would never have occurred. He was a hundred percent certain of this. As for exactly what Yang Haoran had done, he had no way of knowing, and this very uncertainty was what made his expression so ugly!

Just as the Tong Continent Great Emperor was seething with boundless rage, Yang Haoran unexpectedly unleashed a fresh wave of talismans. Just like before, these densely packed talismans converged in the air to form another Talisman Dragon. However, this Talisman Dragon did not target the sword-shaped Soul Armament; instead, it set its sights on the mountain-sized Xuanwu Shield.

The Talisman Dragon lunged towards the Xuanwu Shield, while Remnant Moon and Blood Slave simultaneously retreated. Only Black Lightning continued to unleash black lightning bolts, striking the Xuanwu Shield.

Although the talismans Yang Haoran had released varied in type, with the exception of a few with special abilities, the rest were all offensive talismans, differing only in their elemental attributes.

Without exception, these offensive talismans were indiscriminate in their attacks. Once their power fully erupted, everything within their strike radius would be damaged. Yang Haoran didn't want to see Remnant Moon and Blood Slave suffer damage from the talismans' power, as he certainly didn't want his own methods to harm each other, hence he withdrew Remnant Moon and Blood Slave.

As for Black Lightning, since the dark cloud it transformed into was high in the sky, even if the unleashed talismans fully erupted, the resulting shockwave would be unlikely to inflict substantial damage upon Black Lightning. After all, not only was the distance between them great, but Black Lightning was also not so fragile. Therefore, Yang Haoran not only refrained from recalling Black Lightning but continued to control it, unleashing black lightning bolts to violently bombard the Xuanwu Shield!

The Xuanwu Shield lay horizontally before the Tong Continent Great Emperor, seemingly able to protect only one side. In reality, however, the Xuanwu Shield was capable of multidirectional protection for the Tong Continent Great Emperor, shielding him from harm. Its method of protection simply differed from the defensive barrier generated by a Ghost Art.

The black lightning bolts unleashed by Black Lightning struck down from above, while the Xuanwu Shield was positioned horizontally before the Tong Continent Great Emperor. This defensive method, under normal circumstances, could only block frontal assaults. Yang Haoran had attempted to have Black Lightning directly attack the Tong Continent Great Emperor, but whenever the black lightning descended, a phantom image of the Xuanwu Shield would appear above the Tong Continent Great Emperor, blocking the descending lightning. This meant that Black Lightning's target, intended to be the Tong Continent Great Emperor from above, still ended up being the Xuanwu Shield.

Yang Haoran had also considered having Remnant Moon circle around to attack the Tong Continent Great Emperor from behind. While the black lightning released by Black Lightning couldn't sharply curve, it was not difficult for Remnant Moon to do so, and its extreme speed made flanking attacks effortless. However, when Remnant Moon circled around to attack the Tong Continent Great Emperor, a phantom image of the Xuanwu Shield would appear there as well, blocking the assault for the Tong Continent Great Emperor.

To put it directly, as long as the Xuanwu Shield remained unbroken, any attempt to attack the Tong Continent Great Emperor from any direction would fail. This was precisely why, even though the Xuanwu Shield was positioned horizontally in front of the Tong Continent Great Emperor, Yang Haoran didn't try to breach from other angles, but instead relentlessly pounded the Xuanwu Shield. Only by concentrating his power in this manner could he inflict greater damage upon the Xuanwu Shield. Even if he couldn't completely destroy it, he could at least better restrain it, preventing it from simultaneously defending and attacking. This would ease his burden considerably and make him much safer.

However, the inability to shatter the Xuanwu Shield was Yang Haoran's previous assumption. Now that he had unleashed more methods, he felt it wasn't entirely impossible to smash this hard turtle shell!

Boom! Boom!

Boom!

The Talisman Dragon crashed into the Xuanwu Shield. The situation was identical to the other Talisman Dragon striking the sword-shaped Soul Armament; a massive eruption of talismans occurred, with powers of various elements savagely assaulting the Xuanwu Shield.

At this moment, Remnant Moon and Blood Slave returned to Yang Haoran's side. Remnant Moon circled around Yang Haoran's body, while Blood Slave stood guard beside him like a bodyguard. Their presence could provide protection to Yang Haoran; if the Tong Continent Great Emperor were to suddenly unleash some technique against him during this time, Remnant Moon and Blood Slave could block it for him, thereby ensuring a certain degree of his safety.

Seeing the second Talisman Dragon, formed by a vast concentration of talismans, successfully hit the Xuanwu Shield, Yang Haoran's taut nerves finally relaxed slightly, and his expression was no longer as severe as before.

This change occurred for several reasons. One was that he was currently only controlling Black Lightning, a single Soul Armament, in combat. Ghost Butterfly didn't require much oversight from him, and Remnant Moon and Blood Slave needed no control at all. Thus, his mental energy was no longer being consumed in large quantities as before, leaving him considerably more relaxed.

Beyond that, there was an even more crucial reason: just as the Tong Continent Great Emperor had suspected, he had indeed tampered with these talismans beforehand. This was true for both the talismans targeting the sword-shaped Soul Armament and those aimed at the Xuanwu Shield. With the talismans successfully hitting their marks, he had achieved part of his objective for this phase.

However, the second Talisman Dragon had only just struck the Xuanwu Shield, and the Tong Continent Great Emperor hadn't yet sensed the changes in it. But Yang Haoran believed the Tong Continent Great Emperor would detect it very soon!

Sure enough, after only two breaths, the Tong Continent Great Emperor sensed that the power of the Xuanwu Shield before him was also mysteriously weakening. The situation was identical to what was happening with his sword-shaped Soul Armament.

He was already astonished by the changes in the sword-shaped Soul Armament, never expecting his second Soul Armament to follow suit immediately after.

The instant the Talisman Dragon impacted the Xuanwu Shield, the shield wasn't shaken in the slightest by the collision. However, as the Xuanwu Shield's power rapidly diminished, facing the ceaselessly burning, exploding talismans releasing attacks of various attributes, the Xuanwu Shield actually began to waver, and was gradually forced back by the immense power!

Yang Haoran watched this unfold, his eyes narrowing slightly, a cold glint flashing in their corners. Following that, he increased the Spirit Power injection into Black Lightning!

Empowered by Yang Haoran's energy, the black lightning attacks unleashed by Black Lightning grew even more ferocious. The increasingly weakened Xuanwu Shield not only had to contend with the incessant destruction from the talismans but also endure the violent strikes of the black lightning. For a moment, it trembled fiercely, looking as if it could no longer bear the assault.

The sword-shaped Soul Armament, which had been struck by the Talisman Dragon before the Xuanwu Shield, was in an even worse state. Several more breaths had passed, causing its power to diminish by more than half. The Gold Talismans and Black Talismans, which originally wouldn't have caused any significant harm to the sword-shaped Soul Armament, were now inflicting considerable damage. Not only was the sword-shaped Soul Armament unable to crush the Talisman Dragon, but it also developed numerous cracks, looking as if it were about to shatter.

In just a short while, the Tong Continent Great Emperor, who had summoned two Soul Armaments, not only failed to crush Yang Haoran's methods but was instead dominated by the vast quantity of what he considered "junk talismans" unleashed by Yang Haoran. To the Tong Continent Great Emperor, these talismans were clearly trash, and his two Soul Armaments should by no means have been harmed by them, yet the reality was precisely the opposite.

The Tong Continent Great Emperor couldn't comprehend it. The more he pondered without understanding, the more his inner fury surged, and his rage burned even fiercer. At the very moment the sword-shaped Soul Armament was about to shatter, the Tong Continent Great Emperor could no longer suppress the anger within him. He went berserk!
