Chapter 1357: Yun Yao's Identity
Facing Yun Yao's concerned inquiry, Yang Haoran nodded gently, then replied, "I'm fine, thank you for your concern."
Receiving Yang Haoran's affirmative reply, Yun Yao finally let out a complete sigh of relief, the stone hanging in her heart settling down. Such a huge incident had occurred today, and the reason she hadn't left the Guardian District like everyone else, choosing instead to stay, was her worry for Yang Haoran's safety. Now, seeing that Yang Haoran was unharmed, she felt both joy and confusion.
The joy stemmed from Yang Haoran having no injuries, let alone losing his life; her greatest fear hadn't materialized, so of course she was happy.
The confusion arose because the other party had caused such a massive stir, employed so many tactics, and Yang Haoran had even taken the bait. In such a situation, Yang Haoran was almost certain to lose his life, and even if he miraculously survived, he would surely be stripped of a layer of skin. Yet, the reality was precisely the opposite of what she had anticipated, so how could she not be bewildered?
At this point, not only was Yun Yao deeply perplexed, but even Luo Yao, who was reclining on the sofa, had a face full of similar bewilderment.
After responding to Yun Yao, Yang Haoran bowed to Luo Yao. "Your subordinate greets the Great Emperor!"
Yang Haoran did not bow to Yun Yao because the two of them were friends. Furthermore, in terms of status, as a Guardian, his position was far superior to Yun Yao's, so it was impossible for him to offer her such a subordinate's bow. However, Luo Yao was different; Luo Yao was his direct superior, so of course he had to perform the subordinate's bow to Luo Yao, and he couldn't overlook this point, even if he was in a very bad mood at the moment.
Luo Yao merely nodded lightly, then said nothing further, continuing to drink his tea. Yang Haoran also had no intention of speaking.
Yun Yao spoke with a smile. As soon as her words fell, she walked towards the hall entrance, seemingly ready to depart.
"Wait, I'll see you out."
Seeing this, Yang Haoran quickly spoke. Hearing his words, Yun Yao paused, then turned with a smile to look at Yang Haoran. "Alright!"
Yun Yao didn't refuse; she agreed quite readily and happily. Yang Haoran didn't move immediately but instead looked towards Luo Yao, as if about to speak.
Luo Yao knew what Yang Haoran wanted to say, so before Yang Haoran could speak, he interjected. "Go on, I'll wait for you here. I've waited this long, a little more time won't hurt."
Yang Haoran's expression didn't change because of Luo Yao's words. He still maintained a solemn face, just as before. Anyone could tell he was in a very bad mood at the moment, but he hadn't forgotten the proper etiquette due to Luo Yao, the Great Emperor.
"Thank you for your understanding, Great Emperor. Please wait a moment; your subordinate will return shortly."
After bowing to Luo Yao, Yang Haoran walked towards the hall entrance. Yun Yao, meanwhile, playfully waved at Luo Yao, bidding him farewell, then turned and followed Yang Haoran's footsteps.
Yang Haoran didn't see this scene, as his back was turned to Yun Yao at that moment. If he had, he would undoubtedly have felt even more surprise than before.
"I'm truly sorry," Yang Haoran said softly, looking into the distance as they exited the hall. His expression remained serious, but his voice carried a profound, uncharacteristic helplessness. "You came all this way to offer congratulations, and not only did I fail to host you properly, but I also made you witness a colossal joke."
Yun Yao walked with her hands behind her back, her small feet kicking at non-existent pebbles on the ground, just like a girl from next door.
She wasn't Yang Haoran, so she couldn't truly comprehend the torment his heart was currently enduring. However, from his expression and tone of voice, she could sense Yang Haoran's low spirits at the moment, as well as his powerlessness and helplessness regarding the situation. Thus, for a moment, she found herself at a loss for how to comfort him, only able to respond cautiously, lest she inflict greater harm on Yang Haoran's heart.
"It's true you didn't host me well," she replied, "but I certainly wasn't trying to make a joke out of you. I didn't want to see something like this happen either."
Hearing this, Yang Haoran let out a soft sigh. He, who was always eloquent and fond of keeping a faint smile on his face, was now not only silent but also etched with sorrow.
"There are no knots in this world that cannot be untied," Yun Yao said, organizing her thoughts. "As long as you're willing to invest the time, I believe this matter can certainly be resolved perfectly, and I also believe you have the ability to solve problems perfectly."
Yun Yao carefully formed her words and offered comfort. She wasn't someone naturally adept at comforting others, and managing to articulate such words of solace in such a short time was already quite remarkable.
As Yun Yao strongly disliked such a suffocating atmosphere and didn't know how to console Yang Haoran in his current state, she felt utterly uncomfortable in the present situation. Thus, after her words fell, she waved her hand, tearing apart the space beside her, and continued to speak.
"Comparatively, I still prefer you when you're smiling; I really don't like your current expression and state. I won't waste any more of your time here. Your Jingling Great Emperor is still waiting for you in the living room, and it wouldn't be good to keep him waiting too long. I hope that the next time we meet, I'll see the honest man I first met."
As these words fell, Yun Yao stepped into the spatial rift.
Yang Haoran didn't try to stop Yun Yao, for he was not in the mood, nor did he have a reason to. Furthermore, a pile of troublesome matters awaited him, and he had no spare time to spend on Yun Yao. He watched Yun Yao step into the spatial rift and offered a polite assurance.
"Don't worry, I'll adjust my mindset soon; it's just that I haven't recovered yet and need a little time."
Yun Yao nodded with a smile, then waved goodbye to Yang Haoran.
The spatial rift healed, and Yun Yao vanished, leaving behind only her voice, cheering Yang Haoran on.
"Keep going, I believe you can do it!"
After Yun Yao left, Yang Haoran didn't linger. He turned and re-entered the living room, for Luo Yao was still waiting for him there, and he couldn't keep Luo Yao waiting too long.
Entering the living room, Yang Haoran quickly approached Luo Yao, then stood respectfully.
"Sit down," Luo Yao said blandly, taking a sip of tea. "Let's talk."
Luo Yao took a sip of tea and spoke lightly. Only with Luo Yao's permission did Yang Haoran sit opposite him.
"Do you know Yun Yao's identity?"
No sooner had Yang Haoran sat down than Luo Yao uttered this. He had expected Luo Yao to first address the matter concerning him and Xu Meijing today, but unexpectedly, Luo Yao brought up Yun Yao, who had just left.
The doubt in his heart only lingered for a brief moment before vanishing. Combining it with the scene of Yun Yao casually sitting opposite Luo Yao and drinking tea just now, a few conjectures immediately arose in his mind: Yun Yao's identity was certainly not as simple as it appeared on the surface. Otherwise, how could Yun Yao, a mere Soul-Sower, dare to sit so brazenly opposite a Great Emperor and drink tea? A normal Soul-Sower would have been too terrified to even breathe. And Luo Yao would absolutely not permit a Soul-Sower to act so presumptuously in front of him.
Yun Yao dared to do it, and Luo Yao accepted her doing it. Coupled with Luo Yao now actively bringing up the topic of Yun Yao's identity, it was sufficient to prove that Yun Yao's identity was certainly far from as simple as it appeared.
Although he understood this in his heart, Yang Haoran didn't show anything on his face, nor did he reveal all his conjectures to Luo Yao. He had no intention of parading his intelligence in front of Luo Yao, and besides, he wasn't in the mood for it at the moment. He merely honestly stated Yun Yao's apparent identity.
"Your subordinate knows her identity," Yang Haoran replied. "She is the Soul-Sower of Bamboo Sea City in Qingshan Continent. That's what she told me back then. As for whether it's true or false, or any more detailed aspects, your subordinate has never sent anyone to investigate, so I'm not clear on that."
