Chapter 1354: Two Possibilities
Given the circumstances, the only solution Yang Haoran could currently think of was to humble himself before Xu Meijing and ask for forgiveness. While he knew Xu Meijing might not necessarily forgive him, he hadn't come up with any better way to resolve the issue.
However, now was not the time to deal with that matter. What he needed to do at this moment was to save Bai Xue's life and successfully rescue her. Otherwise, everything he had done today, at such a great cost, would be meaningless.
There was just one thing that struck him as extremely odd: why had he sensed no one else here apart from the severely injured and unconscious Bai Xue?
Previously, consumed by anxiety, his mind had been entirely focused on ensuring Bai Xue's safety, with no room or thought for anything else. Thus, upon arriving, he hadn't thoroughly scanned the valley's situation, instead immediately searching for Bai Xue's whereabouts.
Now, as his mind gradually cleared, he realized just how dangerous his previous actions had been. So, he immediately began to perceive the situation within the valley. Though the valley was not small, with his powerful sensing ability, getting a rough understanding of its conditions in an instant was an effortless task.
Yet, through his perception, he found no other presence within the valley, nor anything amiss.
The opposing party had used Bai Xue to lure him here this time, and it was obvious they were targeting Yang Haoran; Bai Xue was merely a victim. If they intended to use this opportunity to eliminate him, it would undoubtedly be a rare chance. They would only need to set up an inescapable trap in advance. Once he arrived via the teleportation talisman, they could immediately launch a fierce assault. Regardless of whether they could eliminate him in the shortest time, such an approach would be the wisest by any measure. Even if it were him, he would choose to do the same.
However, the reality was quite different. From the moment he teleported into this valley until now, though only a brief minute or two had passed, that short span was enough for experts of their caliber to accomplish a great deal. Even when facing opponents of the same rank, if those one or two minutes were utilized effectively, they could decide the outcome of a life-and-death battle.
But the problem was, the other party had done nothing. There was no sneak attack from the shadows, no inescapable traps, not even a single ghost's shadow to be seen. Such illogical behavior truly left a increasingly clear-headed Yang Haoran bewildered.
In his view, there were only two possibilities why the other party had gone to such lengths to lure him here, yet hadn't attacked him.
The first possibility was that the other party had successfully used Bai Xue to lure him to this specific location on this special occasion, but hadn't immediately acted against him because it wasn't yet the right time to strike. They were undoubtedly waiting for a better opportunity, or perhaps for a specific person or moment. Even though his anxious state just now presented an excellent chance for a sneak attack, it wasn't the ideal timing in their minds, so they didn't act then.
If this were the case, then his and Bai Xue's current situation was not only unsafe but also plunged into deep crisis. After all, if the other party disdained even such a prime opportunity, then the danger they would bring when they truly made their move would undoubtedly surpass the former. The reason he couldn't sense any presence in this valley, not even a ghost's shadow, wasn't because there was no ambush, but because they had all used special means to conceal themselves somewhere in the valley. Not sensing their presence would be entirely normal.
The second possibility was that, at this moment, there was no one else in the valley apart from him and Bai Xue. The other party did not intend to eliminate him here, so there were no inescapable traps set up, and naturally, no possibility of a sneak attack or an overwhelming assault.
What was the other party's objective in doing this? In Yang Haoran's opinion, it was likely to disrupt his wedding with Xu Meijing, causing him and Xu Meijing to turn against each other due to today's events, and then use that as a means to achieve other ulterior motives.
If this were the case, then it also made sense why the other party hadn't attacked or revealed themselves yet. After all, their goal today was not originally to kill him. Since their objective wasn't here, there was naturally no reason for them to act against him.
Yang Haoran didn't yet know which of the two possibilities was the truth, nor did he dare to assert it carelessly. However, he had a way to verify it.
With that thought, Yang Haoran immediately made a decision. His face grim, he said nothing, but placed his hand back on Bai Xue's head. Then, visible Spirit Power surged from his palm, spreading with incredible speed. In the blink of an eye, the Ghost Qi enveloped Bai Xue's massive body.
After a few breaths, the Ghost Qi shrouding Bai Xue's body dissipated, and Bai Xue's form reappeared. However, Bai Xue was no longer in her true form but had reverted to her human state. Yet, she did not awaken simply because she had regained human form; she remained in a deep coma.
The reason Yang Haoran used this technique to restore Bai Xue to human form was that Bai Xue would be easier to transport in this state. Directly moving Bai Xue in her true form would be somewhat troublesome, given her enormous size.
To determine which of the two possibilities was true, the method Yang Haoran conceived was to immediately leave this place with Bai Xue.
If the other party had an ambush in this valley and hadn't acted because they were waiting for a better opportunity or for someone specific, then as soon as he tried to leave with Bai Xue, they would certainly move to obstruct him. They wouldn't let him and Bai Xue depart so easily, for if the two of them left, all the effort the other party put into luring him here would be meaningless.
If the other party's act of luring him here was only part of their plan, aimed perfectly at disrupting his and Xu Meijing's wedding today, then they certainly wouldn't stop him and Bai Xue from leaving this place. After all, there was simply no one else here apart from him and Bai Xue, let alone an ambush, so naturally, no one would emerge to stop their departure.
Tearing space with a wave of his hand, Yang Haoran became cautious once more. Still unsure which possibility was the truth, he had to guard against a sudden sneak attack. After all, anyone could see that his act of tearing space meant he intended to leave via spatial teleportation. If there was indeed an ambush hidden here, the other party would surely intervene to stop him, not allowing him and Bai Xue to leave so easily.
A spatial rift quickly formed into a traversable spatial channel, but no sneak attack occurred. Yang Haoran also didn't sense the aura or power fluctuations of a third party. Yet, his guard did not completely drop; instead, he became even more vigilant and careful than before.
Maintaining his internal vigilance, he bent down and picked up Bai Xue from the ground. Since Bai Xue was in a deep coma, her human form had been restored by Yang Haoran through special means, not by herself. Thus, she had no clothing condensed from power on her body; she was completely naked and snow-white.
Yang Haoran was in no mood to appreciate Bai Xue's perfectly flawless figure and skin at this moment. Under his mental manipulation, Spirit Power enveloped Bai Xue's body, then formed a black garment on her, covering her perfect body.
Although Yang Haoran had no time to admire Bai Xue's flawless figure, if there were indeed others hidden in the dark, Bai Xue's naked body would certainly be seen completely by those hidden individuals. Yang Haoran naturally wouldn't let such a thing happen, so he used his power to conjure a black garment on Bai Xue.
Holding Bai Xue, Yang Haoran stepped towards the spatial rift. The power within him was secretly mobilized at this moment. Should there be any sign of trouble, he would react effectively immediately.
The spatial rift was right beside him. He quickly carried Bai Xue into it. Although this process was extremely brief, it was not impossible to stop. Yet, surprisingly, no one made a move to stop them at that moment. Even after the spatial rift completely closed, no one acted.
This outcome confirmed one thing in Yang Haoran's mind: there was no ambush from the other party in this valley. Their main objective today was actually to disrupt his and Xu Meijing's wedding. As for the other party's intentions in doing so, he didn't know yet.
But one thing was certain: the other party's actions were definitely not for his benefit. It was clear, without even thinking, that they had bigger designs.
Precisely because Yang Haoran had considered this, and the other party hadn't appeared to stop him and Bai Xue from leaving, he didn't feel relieved. Instead, he became even more vigilant. The greater the other party's scheme, the greater the impact it would naturally have on him, potentially even leading him to irredeemable ruin. How could he possibly be at ease?
Of course, the fact that the other party hadn't laid an inescapable ambush in the valley also had its advantages for Yang Haoran. At the very least, he had successfully rescued Bai Xue from this place, making his significant sacrifice to save her worthwhile.
If the other party had truly set up an inescapable trap here, and a major battle had ensued, he worried that Bai Xue might have lost her life caught in the crossfire. After all, Bai Xue's injuries were too severe; she simply couldn't withstand any more ordeal. If Bai Xue had truly lost her life because of it, that was not the outcome he wanted to see.
