Chapter 1304: You are Unworthy
From within the swirling dust, a series of fierce collisions resounded, accompanied by Zhong Siyu’s grotesque, exhilarated laughter and Ulan’s enraged roars.
From these sounds, it was clear that Zhong Siyu’s kick had not claimed Ulan’s life. Ulan was still alive, engaging Zhong Siyu in battle. However, judging by Zhong Siyu’s frenzied laughter and Ulan’s roars, Zhong Siyu undoubtedly held the absolute upper hand.
This did not come as a surprise to Yang Haoran. After all, Zhong Siyu was currently in her peak state. Although she had fought against members of the Corpse Sect earlier, that level of combat had merely expended a fraction of her power, inflicting hardly any damage. The slight depletion of her strength was but a drop in the ocean compared to the immense power within her, causing her no ill effect whatsoever. Thus, at this moment, she remained in her prime.
Ulan, conversely, was left with barely any power within her. Two of her three Soul Armaments had been shattered by Yang Haoran, and inherently, she was weaker than Zhong Siyu. In such a state, facing Zhong Siyu, the outcome was inevitable: without some exceptional life-saving ability, she was surely doomed!
Yang Haoran did not charge directly into the swirling dust like Zhong Siyu. After shattering Ulan’s two Soul Armaments, he swallowed a Soul Pill to replenish his depleted Spirit Power. Although the Soul Pill’s recovery rate was slow for him now, he wasn’t left with meager Spirit Power like Ulan. He wasn’t in urgent need of rapid recovery, so there was no necessity to use a Soul Crystal; taking a Soul Pill sufficed.
Even after taking the Soul Pill, Yang Haoran did not let his guard down. Instead, he fully activated Black Lightning and Remnant Moon, his two Soul Armaments, ensuring that should any unexpected situation arise, he could launch a powerful attack instantly.
Empowered by a surge of Spirit Power, Remnant Moon emitted a joyful hum, its radiating Yin Qi once again intensifying. Above, the dark clouds formed by Black Lightning churned violently, countless streaks of electrical current snaking through them, while rumbles of thunder echoed ceaselessly.
In mere moments, under Yang Haoran’s watchful gaze, the swirling dust ahead was dispersed by a fierce gust of wind, revealing the figures of Zhong Siyu and Ulan.
Zhong Siyu stood before Ulan with a grotesque sneer. Her seemingly delicate, boneless, snow-white right hand was now clamped around Ulan’s neck like an iron vise.
Held captive by Zhong Siyu in such a manner, Ulan struggled violently, yet her efforts were entirely futile. Not only did she fail to break free from Zhong Siyu’s grasp, but she couldn’t even disperse the Yin Qi coiling around her body in the slightest.
In this predicament, Ulan had completely abandoned any thought of slaying Yang Haoran before the Absolute Prohibition vanished.
On the contrary, at this moment, she yearned for the Absolute Prohibition to disappear as quickly as possible. She knew that her strength alone could never overcome both Yang Haoran and Zhong Siyu. To slay them, she desperately needed assistance, but the prerequisite for finding help was the dissipation of the Absolute Prohibition in this area.
Originally, this Absolute Prohibition was Ulan’s tool to deal with Yang Haoran, preventing him from using any life-saving techniques to escape or summoning powerful allies, ensuring he couldn’t contact the outside world, allowing her to eliminate him without anyone knowing. Yet, this very Absolute Prohibition, intended for Yang Haoran, had now become her fatal shackles.
Subdued by Zhong Siyu, Ulan’s face showed no fear. As a leading Guardian of the Tong Continent Yin Division, she possessed her own pride. Even in utter desperation, she would not betray a hint of terror. However, the shame and indignation on her face were incredibly intense.
Such an expression was hardly surprising. Ulan already possessed fierce pride and was, moreover, an exceptionally powerful Guardian of the Tong Continent Yin Division. Yet, to be choked by a mere ghost—such an insult was fatal to her, something she could not accept. Thus, her face was contorted in shame and indignation, her heart filled with extreme unwillingness.
“Yang Haoran, to my knowledge, not many Guardians in your Yin Division have successfully opened all three souls—Heaven, Earth, and Life. A Guardian like her would be a rare supplement for me. How about we keep her captive? That way, I could continuously absorb the unused Spirit Power within her. What do you think? ”
Zhong Siyu, one hand clamping Ulan’s snow-white neck, chuckled grotesquely at Yang Haoran. Yang Haoran understood her meaning, but merely smiled faintly and shook his head.
“Heh, that’s too dangerous. It’s safest to just kill her directly. ”
Yang Haoran’s words caused the grotesque smile on Zhong Siyu’s face to stiffen, immediately replaced by displeasure.
“I’m the one who caught this prey! I have the right to decide how to handle her. Wouldn’t it be too much of a waste to just kill her like this? ”
Though displeasure clouded Zhong Siyu’s face, she did not fly into a hysterical rage at Yang Haoran. Instead, she asked, her expression still clearly annoyed.
Truth be told, Yang Haoran had contributed far more than Zhong Siyu for her to so easily capture Ulan. Yet, Yang Haoran had no intention of arguing with her over this point whatsoever.
“She knows too much, so she cannot be left alive, not even her soul. As for the losses you mentioned, I will compensate you afterward. Besides, you’ve already acquired a Soul Crystal. You surely understand how precious a Soul Crystal is without me explaining further. To gain a Soul Crystal so quickly, I believe that’s definitely not a small harvest. ”
Yang Haoran smiled faintly. Upon hearing his words, Zhong Siyu’s face once again blossomed into a grotesque smile, and a fierce glint erupted in her blood-red eyes.
“Good, you said it. Don’t you dare forget your promise. Remember to compensate me for the losses afterward, or her fate today will be your fate then! ”
Zhong Siyu spoke with a grotesque sneer, even threatening Yang Haoran. The fierce glint in her blood-red eyes seemed to tell Yang Haoran that she was not joking in the slightest.
Yang Haoran’s expression remained unchanged, as if he hadn’t taken Zhong Siyu’s threat to heart. A faint smile still lingered on his face, making it impossible to discern his inner thoughts from his outward demeanor.
Zhong Siyu let out a cold snort, clearly displeased by Yang Haoran’s reaction. However, she did not continue to threaten him, instead turning her gaze toward Ulan.
“When I was speaking with Yang Haoran, I was actually giving you a chance to use any life-saving techniques you might possess. If you have any, unleash them now. If not, then go die! ”
With these words, Zhong Siyu uttered no further nonsense to Ulan. She opened her mouth and inhaled, and all the protective Yin Qi emanating from Ulan’s body, along with the meager Spirit Power remaining within her, swiftly surged towards Zhong Siyu’s open mouth.
Although Ulan had little Spirit Power left within her, Zhong Siyu showed not the slightest disdain. Her current method was not only to completely absorb all the unused Spirit Power in Ulan’s body, but also to devour Ulan’s Spirit Power Seed and soul. For Yang Haoran had just made it very clear: not only could Ulan’s life not be spared, but her soul could not remain either. Thus, she regarded Ulan’s soul as a target for absorption as well!
Ulan’s struggles grew more frantic, and the fury in her eyes intensified to an unprecedented degree. Yet, as Zhong Siyu’s absorption quickened, the anger in Ulan’s eyes gradually transformed into unwillingness and despair!
“Yang. . . Yang Haoran. . . you don’t deserve. . . you don’t deserve to be. . . ”
In her final moments, Ulan painstakingly turned her head to look at Yang Haoran, her gaze filled with venomous resentment. She spoke in broken gasps, a single short sentence seemingly consuming all her remaining strength. Yet, before she could finish, she completely lost consciousness, transforming into a lifeless corpse, devoid of both power and soul, for her Spirit Power Seed and soul had been entirely absorbed by Zhong Siyu!
Zhong Siyu, on the other hand, having successfully absorbed Ulan, erupted with Yin Qi that surged instantly, like gasoline poured onto flames!
