Chapter 1303: A Ferocious Kick

Throughout the intense battle between Yang Haoran and Ulan, Zhong Siyu had been spectating from the entrance of the mountain cave below, neither speaking nor offering aid. There were two reasons for her inaction.

The first reason was that she wanted to see just how capable Yang Haoran truly was. The other reason was that Yang Haoran's disrespect towards her had infuriated her immensely.

Therefore, even though she deeply yearned to join the fray between Yang Haoran and Ulan, she refrained, forcibly suppressing the intense desire for combat raging within her.

Her initial plan was to wait until Yang Haoran begged her for help before making her move, thereby highlighting her importance and simultaneously teaching Yang Haoran a lesson.

However, the outcome left her utterly speechless. Yang Haoran and Ulan had been clashing for nearly an hour, yet Yang Haoran not only hadn't asked for her assistance, but he also had the upper hand against Ulan. It seemed his strength was even superior to Ulan's. While she internally cursed Ulan for being useless, she also gained a new understanding of Yang Haoran's current power.

Nevertheless, the appearance of the Soul Crystal instantly amplified her desires, for the allure of the Soul Crystal was simply too strong. Especially when she witnessed Ulan swallow the Soul Crystal whole, such a wasteful act immediately made her unable to sit still. She could endure refraining from helping, but she absolutely could not tolerate a Soul Crystal being swallowed by Ulan just like that!

As Zhong Siyu’s disdainful voice echoed through the area, a powerful energy fluctuation unique to Ghost Art erupted. Ulan’s expression immediately changed drastically. Her sudden shift in demeanor wasn't merely due to Zhong Siyu’s words provoking her considerably; after all, how could she, a dignified Underworld Guardian, endure such humiliation from a mere ghost?

Beyond that reason, there was an even more crucial one: the power fluctuation currently emanating from Zhong Siyu was simply too immense. Even if Ulan were in her peak state, with her Spirit Power not heavily depleted, she would still be several shades weaker than the power Zhong Siyu now unleashed. This was the primary cause of her drastically changed expression!

Ulan had recognized Zhong Siyu as a Ghost King the moment she arrived and saw her, yet she hadn’t taken Zhong Siyu seriously. After all, Ghost Kings varied in strength; not all Ghost Kings were qualified to be compared to Life Soul realm Yin Officers. Weaker Ghost Kings could be easily dealt with even by Earth Soul realm Yin Officers, let alone Life Soul realm Yin Officers. Ghost Kings of that caliber were mere trash before a Life Soul realm Yin Officer.

If a ghost wanted to possess the strength to contend with a Life Soul realm expert, they needed to elevate their realm to the late Ghost King stage. Such formidable ghosts were exceedingly rare across the entire New Beginning Realm, and Ulan naturally didn’t believe Zhong Siyu was one of them. Given their rarity, she hadn't taken Zhong Siyu seriously at all.

This was precisely why she had almost completely ignored Zhong Siyu during her battle with Yang Haoran. She didn’t believe Zhong Siyu could pose a threat to her, and she certainly wouldn’t waste time on a dispensable individual. Instead, Yang Haoran was proving incredibly troublesome, so she focused all her energy on dealing with him.

However, reality once again delivered a harsh slap to her face. Judging by the power fluctuation Zhong Siyu now unleashed, Ulan was a hundred percent certain that Zhong Siyu’s realm had entered the late Ghost King stage. Otherwise, she couldn’t possibly unleash a power fluctuation stronger than Ulan’s own peak state!

Ulan hadn't yet recovered from her shock when a blood-red figure suddenly appeared before her, moving with a speed that instantly elevated her astonishment to a new level.

“Blood-Clad Ghost King! ”

Ulan cried out in alarm, her shock intensifying once more.

Despite her shock, Ulan's reaction speed was anything but slow. The moment Zhong Siyu appeared before her, her body immediately retreated, attempting to create distance between them!

Since Zhong Siyu dared to approach her, it implied Zhong Siyu was adept at close combat, as most Ghost Kings excelled in close-quarters engagements. While Ulan’s own close-combat abilities weren't weak, they paled in comparison to a Ghost King of Zhong Siyu’s caliber. Moreover, her strength was currently severely diminished, a stark contrast to her peak state. Attempting close combat with Zhong Siyu in this condition would undeniably be courting death, so she unhesitatingly chose to widen the distance.

Ulan’s maneuver was sound, but the problem lay in her inability to sustain it. Her speed was far too inferior to Zhong Siyu’s. She had only just retreated a short distance, not yet truly creating a gap, when Zhong Siyu flickered and reappeared before her, landing a ferocious kick directly on her stomach. Ulan had no time to mount an effective defense.

Bang!

Pfft!

Ulan spewed a large mouthful of fresh blood, and the Soul Crystal she had just consumed was ejected along with it. Her body shot out like a cannonball, crashing into the mountainside. The immense impact force caused the entire mountain to crumble, kicking up a sky-full of dust and smoke.

Zhong Siyu snatched the blood-stained Soul Crystal that had burst from Ulan’s mouth, a thrill evident in her smile. Yet, no matter how one looked at it, that excited grin was unnerving. She didn’t stop there just because she had obtained the Soul Crystal. Instead, she transformed into a streak of blood-red light and shot towards the collapsing mountain, vanishing into the swirling dust in the blink of an eye.

Yang Haoran witnessed this scene with a smile on his face, not intervening to stop Zhong Siyu’s actions. Although he hadn't asked for Zhong Siyu's help earlier, it seemed he had no intention of stopping her from assisting now.

Indeed, he had no intention of stopping Zhong Siyu. Though he still possessed many untapped techniques, and judging by the current battle, his chances of exhausting and killing Ulan in a one-on-one fight were considerably high, he had to factor in the time limit. If he couldn't eliminate Ulan before the Absolute Prohibition dissipated, many unforeseen variables would arise, and that was not the outcome he desired.

Now with Zhong Siyu’s help, as long as Ulan didn’t possess any heaven-defying life-saving methods, he was absolutely confident he could slay Ulan before the Absolute Prohibition vanished!

Yang Haoran could guess with his toes what Zhong Siyu intended to do by rushing into the pervasive dust. Ignoring Zhong Siyu, he shifted his gaze to Ulan’s two Soul Armaments: the Black Grand Seal and the Ghost Head Shield.

As for Ulan's other Soul Armament, the slender Soft Sword, it was still clutched in her hand and thus buried beneath the crumbling mountain along with Ulan.

Because Ulan had suddenly suffered a heavy blow, the Black Grand Seal and Ghost Head Shield, lacking their master's control, hovered in the air. This presented Yang Haoran with a rare and opportune moment.

Under Yang Haoran's control, Remnant Moon and Black Lightning launched fierce assaults on these two Soul Armaments. In just the blink of an eye, Ulan's two Soul Armaments were forcibly dispersed by him, one after another.

Although a Yin Officer's Soul Armament could be re-condensed after being dispersed, re-condensing it required both time and Spirit Power support. This meant that each time a Soul Armament was dispersed, it inflicted a considerable drain on its owner.

Currently, Ulan had little Spirit Power left, and the Soul Crystal she had just consumed was savagely kicked out by Zhong Siyu. In such a situation, dispersing Ulan's Soul Armaments would make it no simple task for her to re-condense them.

Even with Zhong Siyu’s intervention, Yang Haoran believed Ulan's chances of survival were slim. However, to be on the safe side and prevent Ulan from employing any hidden life-saving measures, he decided it was safer to seize this opportunity to disperse her two Soul Armaments. He would absolutely not give Ulan another chance to re-condense them. Without these two Soul Armaments, Ulan would be crushed, even if she only faced Yang Haoran alone, let alone both him and Zhong Siyu!
