Chapter 1286 I Haven't Had Fun Yet
Before, Shi Weihan had successfully used a secret art to make the Vixen Woman's corpse undergo Corpse Transformation. Although this process caused immense changes to the Vixen Woman's body, it did not harm the soul within her corpse.
As for why Shi Weihan didn't extract the Vixen Woman's soul from her corpse beforehand, Yang Haoran naturally wasn't sure. He couldn't confirm if it was because Shi Weihan's heaven-defying Corpse Transformation Art required the target's soul to remain within the body, or if Shi Weihan was simply confident he could deal with Yang Haoran and thus didn't bother extracting the Vixen Woman's soul prematurely. He could only speculate on the exact reason.
However, the fact remained that the Vixen Woman's soul was still within her body. As an Underworld Office Guardian, Yang Haoran's current strength made it an extremely simple matter to determine if a target's soul was still within a corpse or had dispersed after death. He merely needed a slight spiritual sense to confirm it.
Since Yang Haoran wished to learn the Charm Art, one of the two great demonic arts of the fox clan, from the Vixen Woman, he was quite concerned about her soul. When the Vixen Woman's corpse underwent Corpse Transformation under Shi Weihan's secret art, he was amazed by the heaven-defying technique, but at the same time, he also sensed if the Vixen Woman's soul still existed, fearing that Shi Weihan's secret art might affect it. The result was that he confirmed the Vixen Woman's soul had not changed due to the secret art's influence.
For a Guardian, condensing and extracting a soul from a recently deceased target was an incredibly simple task, and the chances of harming the soul were very low, far beyond what ordinary Underworld Officials could achieve.
According to Yang Haoran's usual modus operandi, if a target's soul proved useful to him, he typically wouldn't forcefully condense and extract it beforehand. However, the current situation was different. For one, he didn't intend to take the Vixen Woman's corpse with him, nor did he have the leisure to wait seven days for her soul to condense on its own.
On the other hand, while he desired to obtain the Charm Art from the Vixen Woman, she wasn't the only one who knew it. A considerable number of individuals within the Yellow Fox Clan were familiar with this art. If the Vixen Woman's soul were to be damaged by the forceful extraction, preventing him from learning the cultivation method for the Charm Art from her, he could simply spend a bit more time finding another target.
As Yang Haoran splayed the five fingers of his right hand towards the Vixen Woman, a surge of Spirit Power instantly enveloped her bisected corpse. This Spirit Power transformed into numerous fine threads that burrowed into both halves of the Vixen Woman's body. In less than a single breath's time, the Vixen Woman's soul was forcefully condensed and extracted from her corpse.
No sooner had Yang Haoran stored the Vixen Woman's soul in the Soul-Gathering Bead than a maniacal, deranged laughter assailed his ears. Immediately following, a scent of blood assailed his nostrils, and Zhong Siyu's figure materialized before him.
. . . . “Hahahahaha, you've been toying with them like a cat with a mouse all this time, yet you choose to eliminate the Corpse Sect's Door Master just as I'm about to finish the fight. Your timing is impeccable. It seems you don't want me to kill a few more people and really have my fun, do you? ”
Zhong Siyu grinned savagely at Yang Haoran as she spoke. At this moment, Zhong Siyu was still in her Blood-Clad state. Both her tone of voice and her facial expression exuded a mad and terrifying aura, making anyone hesitate to approach her.
Yang Haoran wore a faint smile as he cast his gaze towards the battlefield where Zhong Siyu had been. What met his eyes were corpses strewn everywhere, and craters visible in every direction. As for any living members of the Corpse Sect or any zombies still capable of movement—there wasn't a single one!
In a short span of time, all the mid-to-high-ranking members of the Corpse Sect and every zombie they had summoned were, without exception, dealt with by Zhong Siyu in a brutal and bloody manner. Although the Corpse Sect's forces were formidable, unleashing all their cultivated zombies created no small stir, but before Zhong Siyu, they still couldn't stir up any waves. All of them met a tragic end at Zhong Siyu's hands.
During Zhong Siyu's one-sided slaughter of the Corpse Sect, some of its members, witnessing the terrifying extent of Zhong Siyu's power, understood in their hearts that she was simply beyond their ability to defeat, even if every one of them unleashed their full strength. Thus, they conceived the idea of fleeing the area.
However, some didn't even get the chance to act on this thought before losing their lives to Zhong Siyu. Others, though they attempted to flee, simply lacked the ability to escape. Whenever someone chose to run, Zhong Siyu invariably caught up to them in time, claiming their lives and tearing apart their bodies.
For this very reason, not a single mid-to-high-ranking member of the Corpse Sect managed to escape from Zhong Siyu's grasp.
As for the various zombies unleashed by the Corpse Sect, the vast majority were mere killing machines devoid of self-awareness. Naturally, they wouldn't entertain the thought of escaping; they would only charge Zhong Siyu head-on. The outcome was predictable: all of them had their bodies ripped apart by Zhong Siyu's sharp claws.
And the few Corpse Kings who possessed independent thought, much like some of the Corpse Sect's mid-to-high-ranking members, also entertained the idea of fleeing. The outcome, however, was just the same: every single one of them met a tragic death at Zhong Siyu's hands.
“So many people, so many zombies, and you still haven't killed enough? ”
Yang Haoran merely glanced at the scattered corpses, then retracted his gaze, asking Zhong Siyu with a faint smile.
“Of course not enough. They were simply too weak. It's hard for them to give me a sense of satisfaction. With garbage like them, even several times their number wouldn't be enough to satisfy me. ”
Zhong Siyu spoke with a savage grin, and Yang Haoran shook his head helplessly upon hearing her words.
“Let's stop here for tonight. You've killed everyone, so even if you're not satisfied, it'll have to do for now. Next time, if the opportunity arises, I'll definitely let you have your fill. ”
Yang Haoran said with a laugh, while Zhong Siyu looked at him with a mix of belief and suspicion.
“You said it yourself! If you dare to trick me, I'll just have my fun with you directly. With your current strength, a fight with me would certainly be very satisfying! ”
. . . . Having dropped that threatening remark, Zhong Siyu then retracted from her Blood-Clad state. Her blood-soaked robes transformed back into a white minidress, and her hair, eyebrows, and eyes reverted from blood-red to their normal colors.
Zhong Siyu, restored to her normal form, still wore a smile, but it was no longer as savage as before. Instead, it appeared sweet and charming. Yet, if one were to observe her sweet and charming smile closely, they would discover a hint of wickedness hidden beneath its facade.
“Let's go. Let's see how my friend is doing now. You don't have any objections, do you? ”
Yang Haoran smiled faintly. Without waiting for Zhong Siyu's reply, Yang Haoran's figure vanished from the spot. Zhong Siyu was just about to speak when she saw Yang Haoran had already disappeared from before her, and her expression instantly turned displeased.
“Hmph, if you weren't going to wait for my answer, why bother asking me? What an impolite fellow! ”
Although Zhong Siyu was quite displeased with Yang Haoran's actions, she merely grumbled a single complaint before her figure flickered, similarly vanishing from the spot.
When Yang Haoran reappeared, he was already at the entrance of the cave where Ma Ling was. However, the scene before him caused the smile on his face to stiffen slightly.
On the other hand, Zhong Siyu, who arrived shortly after, revealed an exceptionally excited expression on her face when she saw the scene before her, as if she had just witnessed a rare and beautiful spectacle, thrilling her greatly!
