Chapter 1223 Beating the Dog into the Water

As the Death God's words fell, he proactively attacked the Talisman Ancestor before the latter could even respond. The Talisman Ancestor hadn't expected the Death God would actually dare to disregard the hidden, potential threat and strike at him, which surprised and somewhat angered him.

Of course, he wasn't the type to take a beating without retaliating or insults without a word. With the Death God's attack already upon him, there was no reason for him not to fight back. The two great deities, who had only just caught their breath, once again began to clash at the edge of the Apotheosis Platform.

The fight between them was just as earth-shattering as before. Each collision caused the space in their combat zone to fracture. However, compared to three days prior, both their powers were considerably weaker, and the destruction inflicted upon space was much reduced. The massive black hole that had appeared three days ago did not reappear.

Even a lean camel is larger than a horse. Although the two True Gods had expended considerable power and sustained serious injuries in their previous battle, falling far short of their peak, their might was still beyond comparison for anyone else present. Thus, facing the two great deities clashing once more, no one dared to approach them.

As the two True gods began to fight again, those on the Yin side, who had paused their attacks due to the appearance of the two True gods, resumed their assassinations on their respectful opponents.

This time, their offensive wasn't half-hearted or a mere formality as before. Instead, they unleashed their remaining power and techniques without reservation. The death of the Spirit Master False God and the Death God's unyielding stance against the Talisman Ancestor had convinced them that victory in this great battle was assured. That was why they attacked without holding back, filled with fighting spirit.

Facing this final, fierce onslaught from the Yin Division, apart from the Talisman Masters of the Talisman Order who still chose to endure stubbornly, everyone else, including the Spirit Masters, decided to choose to fly the area.

The death of the Spirit Master False God had extinguished their hope of victory. Especially the Spirit Masters, who, plunged into despair and with their spiritual pillars crumbling, had no will to fight whatsoever. They, too, believed they couldn't win this battle, and so choose to fly, no longer stubbornly engaging the Yin division. They knew that continuing to fight to the death wouldn't change the final outcome and would only cost them their lives, so escaping quickly was paramount.

As for whether they could successfully escape, they had no certainty in their hearts either. But at least by making this choice, they had a certain chance of escaping and preserving their lives. If they didn't make this choice, they would have no chance of survival and would surely lose their lives here. Unless one was stubborn as iron, they certainly wouldn't foolishly make the opposite choice in such a situation.

Many Talisman Masters of the Talisman Order actually wanted to flee this place as well, because they also knew that their side had little chance of winning this battle. However, their Talisman Ancestor had not ordered them to leave, and was still battling the Death God right here. How could they dare to take it upon themselves to escape? If they did so, they would surely be branded with the crime of desertion, not only being expelled from the Talisman Order but also certainly pursued by them. Until the very last moment, most of them simply dared not act.

There were also some Talisman Masters whose faith in the Talisman Ancestor was so profound, it could be described as blind. As long as the Talisman Ancestor hadn't fallen, their inner spiritual pillars would not collapse. As long as the Talisman Ancestor was alive, they believed there was still hope for everything, and that turning defeat into victory wasn't entirely impossible. Moreover, even if they ultimately failed to win, they were willing to sacrifice their lives for their faith, for that was glorious to them. Thus, as long as the Talisman Ancestor did not retreat, they absolutely would not retreat either.

However, with the retreat of the Spirit Masters and other factions, their side was left with only the Talisman Order's forces. Facing the fierce onslaught from the Yin family, they found even copying extremely difficult, let alone confronting them head-on. In such a situation, even if they struggled to hold on, they absolutely could not last for long; they would be completely annihilated by the Yin family within moments.

If one were to ask which fact the Yin Family hated most, it would undoubtedly be the Spirit Masters. Thus, when the five Great Emperors of the Yin Dynasty saw the Spirit Masters all choosing to fly, they immediately ordered a pursuit, exhausting every possible means and method to retain equally important figures among the Spirit Masters.

This great battle has long since influenced the five Great Emperors of the Yin Division. After all, the losses they had incurred in this war were too great, and the psychological pressure they endured was considerable. Now, they finally saw the hope of victory; the Spirit Master side was in disarray. Of course, they didn't want to miss this opportunity to "beat a drowning dog," seizing the chance to decisively crush the Spirit Master faction in one fell swoop.

"All living guardians and Emissaries of Death from the Jingling Continent Yin'er, heed my command!" Immediately pursue the fleeing Spirit Masters! Rewards will be distributed based on merit afterward!"

The Jingling Continent Great Emperor, Luo Yao, successfully intervened and detained a Spiritualist King. At the same time, he immediately issued this command to his Yin company agents. This great battle had also filled him with suppressed fury. With victory now within reach, he certainly wasn't willing to simply watch the Spirit Masters successfully escape. He had to use every means possible to slay as many Spirit Masters as he could, which was why he issued such an order upon seeing all of them flee.

"All Yin Division agents of the Azure Mountain Continent Yin Division, heed my command! Pursue all fleeing Spirit Masters!"

"All Yin Division agents of the Tong Continent Yin Division, heed my command! Pursue all fleeing Spirit Masters!"

"All Yin Division agents of the Jun Prefecture Yin Division, heed my command! Pursue all fleeing Spirit Masters!"

"All Ghost Officials of the Underworld, heed my command! Remain here and annihilate the remaining enemies!"

No sooner had Luo Yao's voice faded than the other four Great Emperors of the Yin Family successfully issued their commands. Except for the Underworld, the commands issued by the other Great Emperors were all to immediately pursue the fleeing Spirit Masters.

The reason the Underworld issued a different command was that Talisman Masters from the Talisman Order still remained and had not fled. If all the Yin Company agents went to pursue the fleeing individuals, then no one would be left to deal with the Talisman Masters here, and that approach was definitely unacceptable.

Yang Haoran and Xu Meijing were both guardians of the Jingling Continent Yin Division. When Luo Yao issued this command, as Guardians, they naturally had to obey the Great Emperor's order. So, after reminding each other to be careful, they led their subordinates and set off in two different directions, pursuing the fleeing Spirit Masters.

As both were Yin and guards and also in a relationship, if they were to lead their surviving confidants in pursuit in the same direction, it would easily give the impression of slacking off. Furthermore, now was a prime opportunity to "beat a drowning dog. " The two, who had not yet used their full strength, naturally wanted to seize this chance to earn more merit, so they split into two directions to pursue the enemies.

Previously, neither of them had any thoughts of accumulating significant merit. Because they had no certainty in their hearts as to whether their Yin family could win this great battle, they naturally wouldn't contemporary something as unreal as earning merit.

If the ultimate victory of this great battle did not belong to their Yin Division, then no matter how much merit they earned, it would be useless. However, the current situation was completely different; from the present circumstances, the merit they earned would likely genuinely bring them considerable benefits. Because the scales of victory had clearly tipped in their favor, the two of them naturally wanted to earn as much merit as possible in these final moments.

However, neither of them was blinded by their desires. While they wished to seize this opportunity to earn more merit, they weren't so muddled as to disregard their own safety. Thus, the opponents they pursued were all at the Grand Spirit Master realm. They weren't foolish enough to pursue powerful existences like Spiritualist Kings.

It wasn't that they were incapable of apprehending heavily injured Spiritualist Kings. If they used every method, they would be no match for Spiritualist Kings at their peak. But taking down a heavily injured Spiritualist King was not an impossible feat for the two of them. It was simply that they saw no need to take that risk. On one hand, the risk came from the Spiritual King; on the other, it came from their own Yin Division. Therefore, to be safe, their chosen targets for pursuit were all Grand Spirit Masters.

Of course, not only Guardians like Yang Haoran were pursuing the Spirit Masters. All surviving Yin's agents had joined the pursuit. If one were to stand afar and look towards Snow Fox Mountain now, they would clearly see figures rushing out of the mountain range, breaking through the air one after another, and behind them, a continuous stream of pursuing figures.
