Chapter 1133: For the Benefit

Yang Haoran claiming the restraining barrier was set up to prevent the six Grand Spirit Masters from escaping was merely a deliberate provocation, a taunt aimed squarely at them.

As Grand Spirit Masters, all six possessed the ability to tear through space within a restraining barrier. Unless it was a truly specialized barrier, a common one could never hold them.

The restraining barrier here was merely a casual creation of Yang Haoran's, though it had consumed a fair bit of his Spirit Power. Nevertheless, it was, in essence, an ordinary barrier and naturally couldn't trap the six of them.

The six Grand Spirit Masters, of course, understood this logic. Their fury stemmed not from the barrier itself, but from Yang Haoran's utter contempt. They had never even considered escaping; in their minds, it was Yang Haoran who should be contemplating flight. Yet, he had deliberately set up a restraining barrier, even proclaiming it was out of fear they might flee. This inflicted a profound humiliation upon them; how could they not be enraged?

And the consequence of their fury was an even more ferocious assault on Yang Haoran!

As the great battle erupted, Yang Haoran hadn't had time to issue instructions to Bai Xue, yet she knew precisely what she needed to do.

If Bai Xue continued to support the unconscious Zhong Siyu, she certainly wouldn't be able to display her full strength. Therefore, she first had to remove Zhong Siyu from her arms.

Facing the incoming attacks, Bai Xue dodged while expending Demon Power to weave an incredibly strong green protective shield around Zhong Siyu. With this shield in place, Zhong Siyu's safety was significantly assured.

Such was the shield's strength that not only could the residual shockwaves of their battle not pierce it, but even Bai Xue herself, the one who cast it, would need to expend considerable effort to break it through brute force. This clearly demonstrated the astonishing defensive power of this shield.

After casting the shield around Zhong Siyu, Bai Xue didn't tear through space to carry her away. Yang Haoran was currently under siege, and worried for his safety, she wasn't in the mood to tear open space and send Zhong Siyu elsewhere.

Bai Xue's method for dispatching Zhong Siyu was simple and violent. After neutralizing an incoming attack, she directly wrapped Zhong Siyu, along with her shield, in Demon Power, then flung her downwards towards the ground.

Enveloped by the green Demon Power, Zhong Siyu, still encased in the protective shield, plummeted towards the ground like a green meteor.

Boom! ! !

With a deafening crash, Zhong Siyu slammed into the ground, creating a large crater and kicking up a cloud of dust. Yet, protected by the shield, Zhong Siyu remained completely unharmed. Even after such a powerful impact, the shield hadn't budged an inch. It truly had to be said that the defensive power of the shield Bai Xue had cast around Zhong Siyu was astonishing.

Seeing Bai Xue send Zhong Siyu to the ground below, Cold Yue and the White-Haired Old Woman's expressions changed simultaneously. Then, with a flicker of movement, they actually abandoned their ongoing assault on Yang Haoran and shot downwards towards Zhong Siyu's location.

Both Cold Yue and the White-Haired Old Woman harbored an intense desire to obtain Zhong Siyu. Even in the current chaotic situation, their attention on Zhong Siyu hadn't diminished in the slightest. They were absolutely determined to seize Zhong Siyu, this Blood-Clad Ghost King. So, upon seeing Bai Xue send Zhong Siyu to the ground, they both spontaneously abandoned Yang Haoran and shot downwards, intent on using special means to quickly secure Zhong Siyu, preventing any unforeseen accidents that might cause "a cooked duck to fly away."

As for Yang Haoran, it wouldn't be too late to deal with him after successfully securing Zhong Siyu. After all, collecting the unconscious Zhong Siyu wouldn't take much time—only a few breaths if all went smoothly.

Besides, even without the two of them, the other four would certainly keep Yang Haoran busy. In their estimation, Yang Haoran wouldn't be a match for the remaining four; perhaps by the time they finished securing Zhong Siyu, Yang Haoran and Bai Xue would already have been defeated.

Cold Yue was initially surprised to see the White-Haired Old Woman acting in exactly the same way she was. But then, she assumed the White-Haired Old Woman's actions were intended to help her.

She hadn't expected the White-Haired Old Woman to be so responsible, that even in the current situation, she still hadn't forgotten the agreement they had made. This couldn't help but stir a touch of emotion in her heart.

"Leave the Blood-Clad Evil Spirit to me," Cold Yue called out. "You don't need to trouble yourself. Go deal with Yang Haoran; don't let him escape. The sooner you capture him, the better!"

Cold Yue spoke to the White-Haired Old Woman. As her words fell, the two of them were already quite close to the unconscious Zhong Siyu—a distance that allowed them to employ their methods for retrieving her.

But to Cold Yue's surprise, her words had no effect whatsoever. Far from leaving at her suggestion, the White-Haired Old Woman instead waved her hand, conjuring a small black bottle.

This small black bottle was covered in grotesque little ghosts, and the bottle itself radiated visible black Yin Qi. Just by its appearance, one knew this bottle was filled with strangeness; it was definitely not a simple, ordinary bottle.

Cold Yue, also a Grand Spirit Master, naturally recognized what this small black bottle was. It was one of the special artifacts Spirit Mediums used to collect powerful ghosts. In her eyes, the White-Haired Old Woman retrieving this small black bottle at this moment was, of course, for the purpose of collecting the unconscious Zhong Siyu.

Although Cold Yue had guessed the White-Haired Old Woman's purpose in taking out the black bottle, she couldn't immediately grasp why the White-Haired Old Woman would do this. Yet, she had a faint premonition that the White-Haired Old Woman's ultimate goal in collecting the unconscious Zhong Siyu might not be for her. Otherwise, the White-Haired Old Woman wouldn't be wearing such an intensely serious expression, and she certainly wouldn't have ignored Cold Yue entirely.

A terrifying thought suddenly burst into Cold Yue's mind: the White-Haired Old Woman's actions at this moment must be an attempt to snatch Zhong Siyu, the Blood-Clad Ghost King, away from her. That was why she ignored Cold Yue's warning and, with a grave and eager expression, produced the black bottle, aiming to collect the Blood-Clad Ghost King Zhong Siyu before Cold Yue could.

Upon realizing this, Cold Yue's expression immediately turned grim!

"What are you trying to do? !"

As Cold Yue sternly demanded an answer from the White-Haired Old Woman, she flashed forward, blocking Zhong Siyu, and moved to destroy the black bottle.

"I cannot give you this Blood-Clad Ghost King, because I need her just as much!"

The black bottle twisted, dodging Cold Yue's attack under the White-Haired Old Woman's control. It then shifted position, attempting once more to perform the collection technique on Zhong Siyu.

The White-Haired Old Woman's words and actions confirmed Cold Yue's suspicions were correct, but she felt no joy in it whatsoever. There was simply no reason for her to be happy; instead, she had ample reason to fly into a rage.

Since the other party had already revealed her intentions, Cold Yue wasted no more words with the White-Haired Old Woman and directly launched an attack against her.

The White-Haired Old Woman, not to be outdone, immediately counterattacked. The two, once allies, now battled fiercely, unleashing their full power as if intent on killing each other, holding nothing back.

In terms of power, the late-stage Grand Spirit Master, the White-Haired Old Woman, naturally held an advantage over the peak mid-stage Cold Yue. However, the White-Haired Old Woman was successfully tied down by Cold Yue as a result, completely unable to free her hands for anything else. Even with the unconscious Zhong Siyu so close, she had no chance to retrieve her, which infuriated the White-Haired Old Woman to no end.

The White-Haired Old Woman, while casting Spiritual Arts to attack Cold Yue, fiercely retorted, her voice a cold roar filled with both fury and resentment.

Cold Yue paused, stunned. She hadn't known before this moment that the White-Haired Old Woman had lost her Guardian Spirit, much less that it had been devoured during the battle with Zhong Siyu. Hearing the White-Haired Old Woman speak of it now, she was utterly shocked.

But shock was one thing; Cold Yue had no intention whatsoever of relinquishing Zhong Siyu. Having been without a Guardian Spirit for a long time, she was desperately eager to acquire one again, and a perfect candidate like Zhong Siyu was someone she absolutely couldn't miss. How could she possibly agree to give her to the White-Haired Old Woman? !

Moreover, she and the White-Haired Old Woman had a clear agreement beforehand: Zhong Siyu belonged to Cold Yue. The White-Haired Old Woman was merely a mercenary she had hired at great cost. If the mercenary's Guardian Spirit was devoured due to her own lack of strength, what did that have to do with Cold Yue? By what right was she trying to seize Cold Yue's target?

And that wasn't even what infuriated Cold Yue the most. What truly enraged her was that the White-Haired Old Woman had clearly been the one to unilaterally break their agreement, yet she had the audacity to play the victim, accusing Cold Yue of wrongdoing and acting as if taking Zhong Siyu was a matter of course. How could Cold Yue possibly tolerate this? !

Cold Yue recalled how, just moments ago, she had actually been thanking the White-Haired Old Woman in her heart, thinking her a very responsible person. A wave of fury and disgust washed over her. At this moment, she yearned to throttle the White-Haired Old Woman with her bare hands!

"As long as I, Cold Yue, still draw breath today, no one will take this Blood-Clad Ghost King from me!"

Cold Yue not only refused to back down an inch but even uttered a dire threat. However, her words had no effect whatsoever on the White-Haired Old Woman; instead, they completely enraged her.

"Since that's how it is, this old woman will make your last breath vanish! We'll see how you contend with me then!"

As these words fell, the White-Haired Old Woman actually formed a hand seal and directly summoned her Spirit Aspect. From her posture, it was clear she intended to eliminate Cold Yue as quickly as possible.

Not to be outdone, Cold Yue also formed a hand seal and summoned her Death God's Law Aspect, showing not the slightest intention of backing down.

The battle between the six Grand Spirit Masters and Yang Haoran's duo had only just begun, yet two of the Grand Spirit Masters had already directly unleashed their most powerful Spiritual Secret Arts, summoning their Spirit Aspects. However, what was both tragic and comical was that the targets of these two Grand Spirit Masters' Spirit Aspects were not Yang Haoran and Bai Xue, but their own allies.
