Chapter 1104: Be Rational

The young man was left speechless by Yang Haoran's question. Though Yang Haoran wore a smile as he spoke, appearing amiable and utterly harmless, the young man felt a cold dread in his heart, a terrifying chill.

He might have seemed arrogant just moments ago, but that was only when facing Lu Wu. Now, standing before Yang Haoran, he felt an overwhelming pressure that made him intensely uncomfortable. How could he possibly maintain his arrogance?

Cao Ze's face was grim. Yang Haoran appeared polite on the surface, but in reality, he was delivering a warning, a show of force, which made him profoundly uneasy.

\"Those words weren't his; they were mine. Emissary Yang should be well aware of that, so why intentionally make things difficult for him? \"

Hearing this, Yang Haoran smiled and shifted his gaze to Cao Ze. As Yang Haoran's gaze shifted, the young man instantly felt his body lighten, the overwhelming pressure vanishing as if it had never been there.

\"Heh, you're right. Why should I bother with a junior? \" Yang Haoran said with a chuckle.

\"Junior? Heh, Emissary Yang, you're not much older than him. Calling him a junior might strike some as a bit excessive,\" Cao Ze scoffed.

\"Not much older? Are you speaking of status, or strength? \" Yang Haoran asked with a smile.

\"You! \"

Yang Haoran's retort clearly infuriated Cao Ze. He wanted to retort, but for a moment, he couldn't find the words. He took a deep breath, struggling to quell the rising anger, then continued to address Yang Haoran.

\"I came here today not to play word games with Emissary Yang, but because there's something I wish to ask you. \"

Yang Haoran, of course, knew the reason for Cao Ze's visit, but he didn't expose it. Instead, he simply smiled and responded courteously.

\"Heh, go on. \"

Yang Haoran's courtesy did nothing to alter Cao Ze's demeanor. Cao Ze wasn't foolish; he understood that Yang Haoran's politeness was merely superficial. The more courteous he appeared, the more dangerous he became.

\"Emissary Yang, several individuals from our Talisman Cult have recently gone missing, including a high-ranking member of our Gu Mo City Talisman Cult. I wish to know where these members of our Talisman Cult are now—are they dead or alive? \"

Cao Ze inquired. Hearing this, Yang Haoran's face showed a hint of surprise.

\"Heh, people from your Talisman Cult went missing. Why come to me? Do you really believe I'm responsible for this? \" Yang Haoran asked with a chuckle.

\"Hmph, Emissary Yang, there's no need for pretense. Whether you did this or not, I'm certain you know better than anyone,\" Cao Ze sneered, then spoke.

\"You're right, I do know better than anyone whether I did this or not. So let me tell you now: I didn't do it,\" Yang Haoran said with a smile.

At his words, not only did Cao Ze's brows furrow deeply, but the expressions of the other Talisman Masters present also shifted.

\"Yang Haoran, stop quibbling! Hand over my father at once, or don't blame us for flattening your Death God Temple today! \"

The young man, who had been too intimidated by Yang Haoran to utter a sound, finally found his voice. Perhaps it was because the matter concerned his father, or perhaps he believed Yang Haoran wouldn't dare strike him, but he suddenly burst out with such a furious declaration.

The moment the words left his lips, Cao Ze inwardly cried out, 'Not good! ' Just as that thought formed in Cao Ze's mind, a ball of dark Yin Qi suddenly manifested and struck the young man, sending him flying backward.

The scene unfolded too suddenly. The young man had no time to react; the ball of Yin Qi struck him squarely in the chest, sending his body crashing violently to the ground. His face paled, and a mouthful of fresh blood spurted from his lips.

The Talisman Masters present reacted, their expressions instantly turning grim. One of them, with a flash, appeared before the young man, helping him up and examining his injuries. They saw that the young man's chest had already caved in; his injuries were clearly severe.

Pfft!

Another mouthful of fresh blood spurted out. The young man's face was contorted in pain as he pointed a trembling finger at Yang Haoran, attempting to speak. But before he could utter a single word, he completely lost consciousness.

\"Yang Haoran, you've gone too far! As an Emissary of Death, you actually ambushed a Yellow Talisman Master!

Cao Ze, having regained his composure, roared furiously at Yang Haoran. With a fierce wave of his hands, streaks of talismans suddenly materialized around him.

These talismans were uniformly Black Talismans, imbued with formidable destructive power. Under Cao Ze's control, they shot rapidly towards Yang Haoran's position.

Cao Ze had not originally intended to attack Yang Haoran so quickly; he still hoped to extract more useful information from him. However, witnessing the young man sent flying by Yin Qi, as the leader of this expedition, how could he possibly tolerate such an affront? If he didn't act to teach Yang Haoran a lesson, how would the other Talisman Masters present perceive him?

Thus, he did not hesitate, launching his attack on Yang Haoran with a heart full of rage. He refused to be underestimated by the Talisman Masters present, and even less by Yang Haoran himself!

Facing the rapidly approaching talismans, Yang Haoran's expression remained unfazed, his body utterly still. Without any visible movement from him, a barrier of surging Yin Qi materialized between himself and Cao Ze.

Boom! Boom! Boom! ! !

The incoming talismans were met by the barrier, which pulsed with dense Yin Qi, exploding into a series of deafening roars. Visible threads of Yin Qi coiled around each talisman. Before their full power could erupt, the talismans were shredded into fragments by the strangling Yin Qi.

\"Heh, I didn't do a thing. Which of your eyes saw me attack him? \"

As the talismans were repelled, Yang Haoran spoke, a faint smile playing on his lips as he addressed Cao Ze.

When the young man was sent flying earlier, Yang Haoran had stood perfectly still, just as he was now, without making a single motion. Indeed, no one had actually seen him strike the young man.

But beings like them didn't necessarily require physical gestures to launch an attack. Even without any visible movement, as long as the target was within their range, they could still unleash an assault. This was no difficult feat.

Any non-ordinary person with even a shred of common sense understood this implicitly.

Therefore, even without witnessing Yang Haoran make any physical gestures, Cao Ze remained convinced that the young man's sudden flight was Yang Haoran's doing. After all, among the Night Watchers present, no one possessed such speed – a speed so great that even Cao Ze himself couldn't react effectively in time.

Though he was inwardly convinced that Yang Haoran was responsible, Yang Haoran's complete denial utterly infuriated Cao Ze.

\"Yang Haoran, if this wasn't your doing, then whose was it? You, a dignified Emissary of Death, dare to commit such an act but then refuse to admit it? I truly despise you for that! \"

Cao Ze's furious declaration rang out. As his voice echoed, he waved his hand once more, retrieving a considerable number of talismans from his independent space. It was clear he was preparing to attack Yang Haoran again.

Seeing this, the other Talisman Masters present also retrieved their talismans. Though the vast majority of these talismans were Yellow Talismans, their sheer number was considerable, creating a truly astonishing display of power.

\"Heaven Soul! Open! \"

Lu Wu let out a fierce roar, immediately opening his Heaven Soul. Just moments ago, at Yang Haoran's request, he had reined in his Yin Spirit Power. But now that Cao Ze had attacked, and the other Talisman Masters had unleashed their talismans, as a Night Watcher, he naturally couldn't stand by and watch his boss get ganged up on.

As Lu Wu activated his Heaven Soul, the other Night Watchers also unleashed their Yin Spirit Power to its utmost limits. A major battle was on the verge of erupting, yet at this critical juncture, Yang Haoran merely offered Cao Ze a faint smile.

\"Heh, you'd best consider this carefully. Should you truly choose to wage war against me, the consequences may be far worse than you imagine. I'll consider your recent attack an outburst born of agitation and won't hold it against you. But if you strike again, then I'll have no choice but to retaliate. Therefore, I advise you to be rational; do not let anger cloud your judgment. \"

Cao Ze, who was just preparing to strike again, involuntarily paused his hand at Yang Haoran's words. He recalled the great battle that had taken place here that day, and he also remembered the Corpse-Controlling Gate, crippled by Yang Haoran. To claim he harbored no apprehension about this would be utterly impossible.

He dared to bring so many Talisman Masters, brimming with killing intent, to Yang Haoran's Death God Temple today precisely because he felt he held the moral high ground. That was why he dared to act as he did.

Furthermore, his primary objective for coming here today was to obtain a definitive answer from Yang Haoran. As for whether to engage Yang Haoran in a battle to the death, that would depend entirely on whether that answer satisfied him.

To plunge into a fight with Yang Haoran now, before extracting any useful information from his lips, was indeed irrational!
