Chapter 1052 There is no dare, only unwillingness

The Cripple's Corpse Ghouls: two had been dismembered by Yang Haoran, and while the other two weren't dead, they were close, held fast by chains of Yang Haoran's Spirit Power, unable to cause any further trouble.

As for the numerous Corpse Puppets controlled by the Corpse Ghouls, some had already been slain by Shui Ling and the other Night Watchers, while the rest continued their fierce assault on them.

Even without the Corpse Ghouls' control, they still followed the commands previously issued, so despite four Corpse Ghouls being dead or severely wounded, it had no effect on their actions.

Naturally, some of Shui Ling and the other Night Watchers were injured, and some had unfortunately died—this was unavoidable. Yet, none of them flinched or retreated because of their fallen or wounded comrades; instead, they fought with even greater desperation.

Suddenly, several figures appeared on the scene, forming a circle that surrounded Yang Haoran. The Night Watchers present naturally witnessed this; they were deeply concerned for Yang Haoran and wished to help him, to alleviate some of his pressure, but they were entangled by the masses of Corpse Puppets and couldn't break free, leaving them only to fret inwardly.

These individuals who had suddenly appeared were not from the same organization. Precisely because of this, they didn't trust each other, and could even be said to be wary of one another. That's why they didn't remain together, but instead each chose a different area to land.

However, their presence here today shared one commonality: they were all targeting Yang Haoran, this newly arrived Emissary of Death. Therefore, even though they didn't trust each other, they still subtly formed a siege, trapping Yang Haoran in the center, as he was, after all, their common objective.

Although these newly arrived individuals did not all belong to the same faction, the young man currently issuing commands to Yang Haoran in an authoritative tone belonged to the same faction as the Cripple who had appeared first. Judging by the power fluctuations emanating from their bodies, both were members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate.

It was clear, however, that this young man didn't hold much fondness for the Cripple, or perhaps, they weren't aligned on the same front within the Corpse-Controlling Gate.

If the Cripple and this young man were truly kindred spirits, the young man wouldn't have waited until the Cripple cried for help before appearing, nor would he show no concern whatsoever for the Cripple's current predicament, instead his eyes full of disdain.

The Cripple, for his part, paid no mind to the young man's attitude. Normally, if the young man looked at him with such eyes, a verbal spat between them would be inevitable. But in the current situation, he regarded the young man as his lifeline; as long as he could be rescued from his predicament, nothing else mattered. How could he possibly care about the look in the young man's eyes?

Although the young man looked down on the Cripple, both were, in the end, members of the Corpse-Controlling Gate, and this time they were on a mission together. He naturally couldn't stand by and watch the Cripple be utterly destroyed by Yang Haoran. Furthermore, the Cripple had called for his help, so he absolutely had to do what was expected, otherwise, it would be difficult to explain upon their return.

Not only did he despise the Cripple, but he also wholeheartedly looked down on Yang Haoran, this newly arrived Emissary of Death. It was precisely because of this that his attitude, when facing Yang Haoran, was filled with provocation, and he directly demanded Yang Haoran release the man in a commanding tone.

Yang Haoran looked at the young man; his face showed not the slightest hint of anger, but rather his smile deepened a few shades.

"Heh heh, I don't particularly care for that tone you're using."

Yang Haoran chuckled softly. Hearing this, the young man couldn't help but reveal a look of disdain.

"In the adult world, there's no 'liking' or 'disliking,' only 'accepting' or 'not accepting. ' You're not a child anymore; you should understand this principle. So now I ask you one thing: Do you accept?"

Although spoken calmly, the words were loaded with tension. Yang Haoran, after hearing them, chuckled and nodded lightly.

"Heh heh, you make a very valid point. I accept."

As his words fell, Yang Haoran snapped his fingers again. The chains wrapped around the Cripple's leg gave a clattering sound; they didn't tighten further, but instead slowly loosened, seemingly ready to release the Cripple as per the young man's command.

Yang Haoran's reply and his actions made the disdain on the young man's face considerably thicker, while the Cripple let out a sigh of relief, the tension and anxiety on his face immediately vanishing.

Although he intensely disliked the young man, at this moment, he found him quite adorable. As long as he could be freed from his predicament and his life saved, nothing else truly mattered.

The few individuals watching the show from the periphery remained silent, showing no intention of intervening. However, seeing Yang Haoran so obediently prepare to release the Cripple, their expressions varied.

Some furrowed their brows in confusion, some revealed expressions of contempt and disdain, while others remained expressionless and indifferent.

"Heh heh, it seems the rumors weren't false after all. The Underworld Office is truly finished. In my opinion. . ."

Seeing Yang Haoran so compliant, the young man wanted to mock him with a few words, to satisfy his vanity and assert his presence. But before he could finish speaking, the scene before him brought his words to an abrupt halt.

The chains on the Cripple's leg, which had clearly loosened, suddenly tightened with a ferocious snap. Both their strength and speed far surpassed before, and with a resounding bang, the Cripple's entire leg was obliterated by the immense power unleashed by the chains.

Blood and gore splattered everywhere. Yang Haoran seemed to have anticipated this; as the blood and flesh fragments neared his body, they were blocked by a flash of black light, not a single speck landing on him.

The young man not far in front of him clearly hadn't expected such an event, and thus had no protective measures in place. Blood and gore splattered all over him, some even directly hitting his face.

The young man froze on the spot, partly because Yang Haoran dared to defy his command and truly strike, and partly because of the splattered flesh and blood covering him.

The other onlookers present also hadn't anticipated this turn of events. From Yang Haoran's earlier words and actions, he had clearly yielded to the young man, but Yang Haoran's current actions were an entirely different matter, causing them all to stare in stunned disbelief.

The Cripple likewise hadn't expected such a dramatic reversal. Yang Haoran had clearly loosened the chains, and he had believed he would regain his freedom any second. How could he have known Yang Haoran would suddenly pull such a move?

Because the Cripple's leg was pulverized with such speed, he hadn't even registered the pain before his entire leg was gone. Only when his body collapsed to the ground and he saw blood gushing from the severed limb did he let out a heart-rending scream.

As for whether that scream was due to intense pain or sheer terror, only he himself knew.

The Cripple screamed and writhed on the ground. His cries brought the onlookers back to their senses, and at the same time, jolted the stunned young man back to reality.

The young man, now alert, had no smile on his face. His expression was grim, his facial muscles twitching slightly, and his gaze towards Yang Haoran turned cold and bloodthirsty, as if he wanted to devour Yang Haoran alive.

"Heh heh, your expression right now is quite good, but it still hasn't reached a level that satisfies me."

Yang Haoran spoke with a smile. As his words faded, several chains suddenly appeared out of thin air around the Cripple's body, then plunged down towards his writhing form.

"You dare! ! !"

The young man's expression changed once more. He tried to stop Yang Haoran, but his reaction speed was half a beat too slow. By the time his voice rang out, several chains had already pierced through the Cripple's body.

A more agonizing scream than before erupted from the Cripple's mouth. The young man, fueled by his inner fury, charged at Yang Haoran. His body enveloped in a layer of grayish-white light, he instantly appeared before Yang Haoran, then unleashed a punch aimed directly at Yang Haoran's faintly smiling face.

Enveloped by the grayish power, the young man's punch was not only incredibly fast but also astonishingly powerful. As he unleashed it, even space itself seemed on the verge of tearing apart.

However, Yang Haoran's speed was even greater than his. Before the punch could successfully connect with Yang Haoran, Yang Haoran's foot already met the young man's chest.

Thud! ! !

The young man was sent flying by Yang Haoran's kick. Although the kick didn't claim his life or make him vomit blood, it caused his internal energy to churn violently. He was sent back dozens of meters before he finally managed to neutralize the force of Yang Haoran's kick and steady himself.

However, no sooner had he steadied himself and before he could launch another attack on Yang Haoran, he witnessed an infuriating sight: the several chains that had pierced the Cripple's body suddenly exerted force, and under the Cripple's shrill and terrified screams, they brutally tore his body into several pieces!

"Heh heh, in my world, there's no 'I dare not,' only 'I am unwilling to. '"

Blood splattered, severed limbs fell. Yang Haoran didn't turn back to look, but instead smiled faintly at the young man who had just managed to steady himself.
