Chapter 768: Space Revenants

The gate to the Boneyard Realm slowly opened, and from within, bone corridors extended outwards, one after another.

These long corridors, paved with bones as translucent as jade, continuously extended through the void, "growing" all the way to the side of the resurrected space revenants.

These eerie beings, whose insides were actually nothing but skeletons, still wore the power armor from their former lives.

In a sense, they could also be considered space versions of Death Knights; only, what they wore wasn't traditional full plate armor, but rather a set of power armor capable of space combat.

They still seemed to possess some memories and instincts from their former lives, instinctively piloting spaceships that had likewise been repaired as if time had been reversed, following the bone corridors as they slowly approached the bone gate.

...

"Why didn't they revive fully, at full health, like that kid?" Some in the Federation were extremely curious, because their analysis concluded that the resurrection mechanism of these space revenants should be the same as Ling Tian's, yet they hadn't fully revived successfully, turning into this eerie, half-alive, half-dead appearance.

"If they had died half an hour later, or if I truly were a Ninth-Tier Star Lord, they wouldn't have revived as half-dead space revenants, but as living, breathing people.

They hadn't had time to complete the transformation and link their lives completely with me," Bai Mo said, with a slight hint of regret.

"They were too far, and you didn't have time to fully digest them, right?" After hearing Bai Mo's explanation, everyone couldn't help but inwardly scoff.

"Within the light cone of a True Sun Star Lord, even low-tier lifeforms won't find it easy to claim the freedom of death."

...

The space revenants, who still seemed to retain some emotions from their former lives, reluctantly cast a final glance towards the Federation fleet, and then, one after another, walked into the bone tunnel.

That was the destination their instincts pointed them towards.

There had always been a legend in the Federation that after death, people would go to the mysterious Soul Realm to undergo reincarnation.

Legend had it that within the Soul Realm there was a Reincarnation Palace, a place that erased all memories of souls' former lives.

Blank souls, their memories erased, would drift aimlessly throughout the Soul Realm. Among them, only a lucky few would have the chance to reincarnate, or, through fortuitous encounters, awaken into high-tier spiritual entities with self-awareness. The vast majority of the rest would only continue to exist in a state of muddle and confusion.

The Soul Realm and the Boneyard Realm were actually connected by a passage, both being part of the legendary Nine Netherworlds.

"The world you first explored, that was the Nine Netherworlds, wasn't it?" For over a hundred years, this was the first time anyone had directly asked Bai Mo this question.

Although some speculated that Bai Mo's rapid increase in power after ascending to Immortality was entirely a result of Daoization, this still couldn't explain why he had far surpassed others even before ascending.

It had always been speculated that the reason Bai Mo, before ascending, could lead the way was because he had discovered another world.

Some Bai-ologists even uncovered clues from back then, proving that Bai Mo, very early on, had already come into contact with life forms from other worlds and even brought back some cultivation texts from those alien realms.

And over a hundred years ago, the giant luminous being that caused the famous cultivator Luo Yi to mysteriously disappear ever since was very likely a life form Bai Mo had encountered from another world.

Today, over a hundred years later, only the True Immortals of the Federation, who had also ascended to the Immortal stage, could accurately estimate that the luminous being, glimpsed so fleetingly back then, was at the same Seventh-Tier level as themselves.

"If you think so, then so be it," Bai Mo neither confirmed nor denied.

If it weren't for the numerous True Immortals present, and their certainty that Bai Mo couldn't use Eighth-Tier power here, they really might not have had the courage to ask.

"That Tianxuan Continent, is that where the Disciple of the Crimson World and the others came from?" Seeing that Bai Mo was unwilling to give a definitive answer, Ji Er Ke Fu asked another question.

"That's right, the Disciple of the Crimson World came from there."

The Disciple of the Crimson World, which had turned Earth upside down, was also an entity the Federation had once been extremely concerned about; only it hadn't appeared for over a hundred years, and had thus slowly faded from the memories of most people.

"Is it dead?"

"It's dead."

Bai Mo knew that of the three great Heavenly Devils that had ravaged Earth back then, one Creator was still alive and hidden somewhere in the Federation; it was just that Ji Er Ke Fu and the others hadn't asked, so he couldn't be bothered to say.

Anyway, even if the Creator recovered to its peak, it was still just a Seventh-Tier existence; the Federation had plenty of people who could deal with it.

"On the Tianxuan Continent, there seems to be an existence even stronger than you?" Yun Jie recalled the "door" that Bai Mo had desperately tried to close back then; the power behind it still sent chills down his spine.

"Do you want to hear the story of the Tianxuan Continent?"

After ascending to the Immortal stage, only then did everyone realize how many bizarre things were hidden on Earth. It was just a pity that by then, they could no longer return to Earth to seek out the truth of everything.

"The story begins about two hundred years ago. A Qi Refinement cultivator from the Tianxuan Continent accidentally stumbled into a spatial rift and arrived on Earth."

"What?! Cultivators from other worlds came to Earth two hundred years ago?! Aren't we the first generation of cultivators?"

"We are the first batch of native cultivators on Earth, that's all," Bai Mo said emotionlessly.

"Two hundred years ago, Earth, in his words, was a place devoid of spirit qi. That cultivator spent twenty years traversing the entire planet but didn't find a single trace of spirit qi."

"He tried his best not to use the limited spirit energy remaining in his body, relying on the spirit stones in his Cosmic Pouch, barely managed to survive, persevering until the Spirit River Autumn."

The "place devoid of spirit qi" that Bai Mo mentioned was something most True Immortals in the Federation who had explored other spatial layers had experienced. They often discovered spatial layers completely devoid of spirit qi; if they lacked supplies and stayed in such places for too long, their cultivation might even slowly regress.

Of course, True Immortals weren't like Qi Refinement cultivators who could only remain trapped in desolate lands; they all possessed the ability to traverse spatial layers. If they encountered a world devoid of spirit qi, they could simply pack up and leave at any time.

The feeling a cultivator had when staying in a world devoid of spirit qi was probably similar to what Ling Tian had just unleashed – a weakened version of a weakened version of a Dharma-Ending Domain. The spirit energy within their bodies wouldn't desperately drain away, but every bit used was a bit less.

"Unfortunately, by the Spirit River Autumn, he had only a few years of life left, beyond remedy. On the day I met him, he told me all of this, left behind only a sword and a room full of books, and then committed suicide."

Bai Mo took out an ordinary longsword from his sleeve. Traces of time were clearly visible on the sword.

Everyone also swept it with their divine sense. The sword's craftsmanship was decent, but the precious materials used to forge it truly failed to impress a group of True Immortals; after all, this was merely a Qi Refinement cultivator's personal sword.

"So, do you have the coordinates for the Tianxuan Continent?" Ning Yan Huo asked, having calmed down.

"On the Tianxuan Continent, there is an Eighth-Tier existence. For countless years, it has used the entire continent as a breeding ground, taking the Seventh-Tier True Immortals born there as its food..."

"..."

"The Disciple of the Crimson World was merely a backup food source that had escaped to Earth by coincidentally traversing a spatial rift."
