Chapter 760: The New and The Old

No one wished for their memories and thoughts to be polluted by others, even if that other was their own ancestor.

The Green Wizard King was no exception.

The memories belonging to Ying Huo and Ning Yan Huo had completely intermingled with its own, the descendant's memories, giving rise to two entities, like inner demons, outside of its primary consciousness.

It couldn't tell if these were truly the lingering spirits of that person and that tree demon from yesteryear, or merely figments of its own imagination that had materialized into reality due to the power of a Celestial Immortal.

This was also the price it paid for taking a cunning shortcut.

Having obtained the bloodline memories from its ancestral tree demon and experienced realms beyond its own level, Ying Huo's every step before becoming a Celestial Immortal was easy and pleasant.

Even the process of undergoing the Celestial Immortal Tribulation was not particularly difficult for it, as its predecessor, or rather, the original owner of the memories it acquired, had already been infinitely close to the Celestial Immortal level back then.

More than a hundred years ago, given just another year or so, Ying Huo, born from devouring millions, would certainly have possessed seventh-stage power.

Unfortunately, a world dominated by humans never granted it that opportunity.

Even if Bai Mo hadn't acted, the major nations would have already aimed countless nuclear weapons at it.

Regardless, a monster capable of threatening human existence should not be allowed to remain in this world.

“They are nothing but remnants of the old era; the new era has no place for them.” Ramdo said to the Green Wizard King.

The Green Wizard King, or rather, Ying Huo's personality, was highly unstable. For the past few years, the old Ying Huo consciousness, fueled by hatred for Ramdo, had been dominant. Only just now had the new Ying Huo, bearing no past grievances against Ramdo, regained control.

The relationship between the two was somewhat like two users on a single computer, sharing memory (storage) but possessing entirely different usage habits.

Whether it was the old Ying Huo using the computer or the new Ying Huo logging into the mainframe was a question that greatly perplexed outsiders.

“Old era? New era? Is this the Qi Luck of epochal change?” The Green Wizard King, under the dominance of the new Ying Huo, gazed into the distance.

As it hadn't cultivated the Ghost Immortal Path, it could only barely sense the existence of Qi Luck, but it could instinctively feel this mysterious essence continuously surging towards it from all corners of the Federation.

The new Ying Huo bore no filial vendetta against Ramdo, so it naturally wasn't willing to fight a formidable foe whose combat power still surpassed its own by a considerable margin. And the one Ramdo truly hated was Bai Mo, who had created the old Ying Huo and destroyed his divine kingdom. As long as the Green Wizard King didn't wish to continue the battle, he wouldn't waste the lives of his subordinates further.

When two great powers, each led by a Celestial Immortal, clashed, it became a bottomless meat grinder, with no amount of human lives being enough to fill it.

......

Speaker Ji Er Ke Fu shielded the new Ying Huo, who had just abruptly regained control of its body and was still somewhat dumbfounded, behind him.

He then asked, “Then, why the Divine Terra Empire?”

“Why ‘Fang Shi’?” Ramdo countered.

“You first.”

“......”

“‘Divine’ is the defining term for our Divine Path; ‘Terra’ is the name for Earth in the Federation’s language; ‘Empire’ refers to the Elector system they four championed.”

“You still can’t let it go.”

“Can you?”

“No.”

The two were discussing Terra, which was to say, Earth.

The Divine Terra Empire was clearly meant to remind everyone never to forget Earth.

“’Fang Shi’ was the result of our discussion. Legends say that ancient seekers of the Dao called themselves ‘Fang Shi,’ so we might as well call ourselves ‘Fang Shi’ too,” Ji Er Ke Fu explained, expressionless.

“I only understood today why it’s the ‘Dao Yuan Era.’ It seems he’s already far ahead of us.”

“Constantly leaving one’s own mark throughout history—the cultivation method of a Ghost Immortal is truly interesting, wouldn’t you agree, Gui Wu?”

In the void, the ghostly female figure reappeared behind Ji Er Ke Fu.

“The mere existence of the three characters ‘Dao Yuan Era’ forces the Federation to contribute a significant amount of Qi Luck to him every year.” A Daoist also emerged from behind Ramdo, with long hair, long brows, and a long beard; his entire face was almost covered by excessive hair, and his figure flickered indeterminately.

This was clearly the Ghost Immortal from Ramdo's faction.

During the intense battle just now, the Ghost Immortals, who weren't skilled in direct assault, remained hidden. Now that both sides had ceased fighting, they appeared at the negotiating table.

“The more powerful the world in which one leaves a mark, the greater the share of Qi Luck obtained.”

“What if the name is changed one day? Does the Qi Luck disappear then?” Hou Lin, an Immortal Path newbie, quietly asked the beautiful Ghost Immortal from their own faction.

“Of course. If your mark is erased, how could you still partake in the Qi Luck? It’s like a nation: if the nation falls, its fortune naturally disperses as well.”

“Why does it feel a bit like a wild dog marking its territory with its urine...” For some reason, Hou Lin suddenly had a rather vulgar thought.

However, he truly couldn’t bring himself to voice such a thought.

“So we truly have to accept those demons and monsters into the Federation?” Hou Lin then transmitted his voice to Ji Er Ke Fu, wanting to confirm the other party’s stance one last time.

“I understand your concerns, but accepting them is for the greater good. The addition of four allies, each equivalent to a two-star Celestial Immortal, nearly doubles our strength. ”

“Since that’s the case, then this Grand Marshal position isn’t worth holding. Speaker, you should hire someone more capable.” Seeing the Speaker’s attitude, Hou Lin felt somewhat disheartened. “It’s been exactly three years.”

Opposite him were four great demons of the two-the true Immortal level. Truth be told, he couldn’t beat them. Being over a hundred years old, he couldn't throw a tantrum like a child.

Thus, he could only choose to put it out of sight, put it out of mind, relinquish his position in the Federation, and retreat to his own world. At least on the noble flagship he commanded, there would be no trace of any demonic creature.

All things considered, Hou Lin had served as the Federation Grand Marshal for exactly three years since his return after ascending to the Immortal realm.

His subordinates, who revered his power, had given him numerous domineering nicknames such as “Commander,” “Asura,” and “Rakshasa.” Yet, at this very moment, facing those four great demons, he still felt utterly powerless.

“Our path ahead is not a smooth one. Just on the route towards Centaurus, our frontline scout ships have already detected five monsters comparable to True Immortals.”

Ahead of the Federation's main fleet were vast swaths of reconnaissance and sweep ships. They had long since left the flagships carrying countless civilians far behind, acting as pathfinding units, surveying for threats along the predetermined route for the main fleet.

If they truly encountered powerful enemies, these scout ships would transmit information back, alerting the main fleet to adjust its course and reduce meaningless battles.

But if they discovered a “fat prey,” they would not hesitate to summon the Federation's forces to devour it all.

No matter what, the Federation was an entity capable of deploying ten True Immortals for battle at any given moment. If it was merely one or two True Immortal-level monsters on a passing planet, an encirclement hunt would be no problem at all.
