Chapter 758: Electors
“Given the current state of the Federation, do you think an emperor could emerge?” Yun Jie said at this moment.
Compared to a traditionally unified nation, the Federation's internal structure now resembles a collection of allied states.
Especially after the trend of noble enfeoffment of flagship-territories began, every noble possessed their own noble flagship, and each flagship was, in itself, an independent kingdom.
At the same time, with multiple True Immortals coexisting, no single individual possessed the power to command all others. A Two-robbery True Immortal like Ramdo was indeed strong, capable of suppressing a one-robbery Hou Lin with just a few words. But suppression was one thing; slaying him was an extremely difficult matter.
...
“What they intend to establish is an Elector system,” Ramdo said, pausing his next attack to explain.
“The emperor’s seat rotates; will tomorrow be my turn?”
“Among all the noble factions, the seven strongest forces will become Electors, and from those Electors, an emperor will be nominated.”
“What’s the difference from now, then?” Speaker Ji Er Ke Fu couldn’t quite grasp their audacious scheme; according to what they said, the chosen emperor didn’t seem much different from the current Speaker.
They exchanged a glance, completing the transfer of information, and then the woman's figure slowly vanished back into the void.
The same thing happened before Ramdo.
A black shadow flashed into existence, then immediately disappeared again. Half a second later, the black shadow split into two, appearing beside Yun Jie and Ye De Xian respectively, circling them once before quietly departing.
The scene instantly gained several individuals lost in thought.
...
The event had occurred too suddenly; even the Four Holy Beasts weren't entirely sure what was happening with the other party. They could only vaguely sense that the two figures that had just appeared were likely both Immortal Path cultivators.
Not only that, but Bahamut faintly sensed that both Ramdo and Speaker Ji Er Ke Fu had undergone a subtle, almost imperceptible shift in their attitudes towards them after contacting the black shadows.
“So, what do you think of the name Divine Terra Empire?” Bahamut asked, feigning ignorance of all that had transpired and resuming the previous topic.
“The name is acceptable, but I wonder how the Electors will be distributed?” the Speaker said, rousing from his contemplation, seemingly having made a certain decision.
“So, Speaker Ji Er Ke Fu agrees to reorganize the Federation?”
Such a smooth answer exceeded Bahamut’s expectations. It had no idea what the ghostly woman had just told Ji Er Ke Fu to make his attitude perform a complete U-turn.
“The formation of the Federation was originally just an expedient measure to counter a common enemy. Now that the great enemy is gone, it is time to begin a new history.”
“The Speaker is truly a straightforward person, hahaha.”
The man and the beast chatted and laughed, showing no sign that only minutes before, they had been enemies from opposing factions.
“Ji—” Hou Lin had just begun to ask what was going on when another ghostly woman appeared, lightly brushing past his face.
After the information exchange was complete, he finally understood the reason behind it all. His gaze towards where the ghostly figure vanished grew complex.
...
“Are they your contingency plan?” Yun Jie transmitted his voice to Bai Mo, who was hidden at the edge of the battlefield.
Although he was also part of Ramdo’s faction, Ramdo had never mentioned to him or Ye De Xian that he had allied with the Four Holy Beasts of the Land of White. The three of them resembled an extremely loose alliance, with no intention of fully sharing information, each still harboring their own little schemes.
“No.”
“Then their plot to gain from the Federation’s Qi Luck, was that their own decision?”
The information the black shadows had just conveyed to everyone was precisely the Four Holy Beasts’ intention to claim a share of the Federation’s Qi Luck by instigating a change of dynasty. This large pie of Qi Luck, rooted in the Federation, could only be obtained by those present through influencing the Federation's grand trajectory.
Qi Luck was ethereal and elusive; unless one was a Ghost Immortal, they could barely even sense its existence. Both the True Cultivator Faction and the Xuan Cultivator Faction actually concealed a Ghost Immortal responsible for managing Qi Luck.
However, the Ghost Immortal path’s frontal combat capabilities were truly lacking. Thus, the Ghost Immortals, acting as Qi Luck strategists, simply chose to remain hidden in the void, not engaging in direct battlefield clashes.
“I haven’t blocked this information; it’s perfectly normal for them to know that Qi Luck has the effect of mitigating tribulations.” Bai Mo adopted an indifferent air, as if it had nothing to do with him.
“A few rogues, just released and already eyeing our Qi Luck.”
“Within a few light-years, you’re the only group of True Immortals. Who else could be the target besides you?”
“...”
“It seems the Speaker also has designs on the Qi Luck.”
...
“Who wants to start a new history?!” It was at this moment that a silver radiance and another crimson radiance, currently clashing against each other, appeared from the void. Two individuals, locked in fierce combat, emerged into the space battlefield.
Raging martial wills clashed against each other, every moment saw the creation and destruction of countless storms. The intensity of their struggle was countless times greater than the earlier spar between Yun Jie and Hou Lin.
Only Ramdo and the Green Wizard King, having truly ignited their rage, could achieve such ferocity in combat.
Shockwaves rose one after another. Neither of them paid any attention to the other individuals sharing the battlefield; their eyes were fixed solely on each other. On one side, fists struck out like dragons, with dragon heads formed from martial will lunging at their opponent. On the other, legs swept like a flood, kicking out wave after wave of white light tsunamis, attempting to submerge the countless dragon heads.
“Huang Wuji, Olga, are you two still going to keep fighting?” Ji Er Ke Fu asked.
Huang Wuji was a two-time Human Immortal of the Federation, one of the men standing at the forefront of the martial path.
Olga, on the other hand, was the grand master of the Federation’s knight martial arts system.
These two had always frequently fought over which was the stronger Human Immortal path: that of the paladin or that of the martial artist.
Although the Federation had been established for over a century, and its language had been forcibly unified, its cultures had never truly merged.
The Huaxia faction, Yamato faction, American faction, and European Union faction cultivators still existed, even if the geographical names that supported these factions had long ceased to exist.
...
“You set the date, and now you’re turning around and asking us?” Huang Wuji retorted.
It turned out that far more than the six True Immortals appearing on the surface were involved in today’s events; there were many more individuals fighting in pairs. They had long-standing conflicts with each other and, seizing the Speaker’s idea, simply chose the same day to resolve their issues.
However, True Immortals were not subordinate to each other. Even those who ideologically supported the Speaker’s Xuan Cultivator Faction tended to fight their own battles; it was merely a matter of giving the Speaker face by choosing to resolve them on this very day.
“Then if you want to fight, go back to the spatial layer crevice to do it! Don’t cause trouble here!” Ramdo replied.
