Chapter 704: Blowout
"Thankfully, my gamble paid off. I collected this planet early."
At the core of the Main God Temple, Wu Ming sighed with emotion at the correctness of his audacious gamble. The World Power remaining in his hands was scarce, barely enough to digest this single planet. If Bai Mo had intervened, he would have likely lost everything. Fortunately, whether due to caution or simply not discerning the Main God's superficiality, Bai Mo did not act, thus granting Wu Ming this opportunity to bind himself to Water Blue Star.
"It should be something akin to matter reconstruction."
Bai Mo wasn't overly concerned with the Main God's maneuver at this moment; his greater interest lay in what was happening *within* the "world".
An amber-colored, peculiar force was attempting to alter the planet's very essence, rendering it "immortal". This immortal characteristic was quite unique: everything it permeated would become an ageless, deathless existence, or rather, fall into an endless cycle of reincarnation. To use a game analogy, the Main God had now saved a "game file" for this world. No matter how subsequent events unfolded, as long as he "loaded" the save, everything would return to that save point.
"The Main God's method of cultivating Reincarnators is to throw them into numerous worlds for trials and tribulations. These lawless individuals often inflict immense destruction upon the worlds. This World Light, however, perfectly repairs everything without a trace, allowing a world to be reused countless times. But if that's the case, the memories of the people within should also be reset..."
"But why would it collect a world in such a dangerous place?"
Bai Mo casually flicked out a sword qi, aiming directly at the Main God, which was now linked with Water Blue Star.
"Without the Main God Temple, I couldn't even withstand a single sword stroke?" Wu Ming thought to himself, observing the data analysis system inside the Main God Temple.
...
The sword qi easily submerged into the Main God's white light mass, yet it produced not a single sound.
"Oh?"
Although Bai Mo wasn't skilled in swordsmanship, if this particular sword qi had struck Earth, it would have been enough to rip open a new East African Rift Valley. Logically, landing on the Main God, even if it had no effect, should have caused some ripples. The complete absence of sound was truly a bit strange.
...
Meanwhile, somewhere on Water Blue Star.
"Bang!" A black liquid pillar suddenly burst out of the ground.
"An ambush!"
"Everyone, prepare for combat!"
Several Reincarnators, drenched in the black liquid, disregarded their sticky discomfort and immediately took up defensive positions.
This was a battlefield; caution above all else was the shared mindset of everyone.
"What in the world is this..."
After foolishly maintaining their guard for three minutes, some began to lose patience. The expected ambushers were nowhere to be seen; instead, the sticky black liquid coating their bodies seemed to possess a certain toxicity. Moreover, this black liquid continued to spew endlessly, completely oblivious to the Reincarnator squad, which had already moved a hundred meters away.
"Could it be that we've stumbled upon an oil well blowout?" After producing a cleansing talisman and thoroughly cleaning himself from head to toe, the tall, thin cleric in the squad said with a frown. He had a slight obsession with cleanliness and always carried forty or fifty cleansing talismans with him, using at least two daily. This black liquid sticking to his body was indeed very unpleasant.
"Our luck is a bit *too* good..."
The Reincarnator squad leader, who had been about to light a cigarette to calm his nerves, suddenly reacted when he was about to spark the lighter, crushing it into a ball. If a flame had truly appeared, igniting the oil spewing everywhere, they might have become one of the most unjustly dead squads.
"Under our feet, it's all oil." After about ten minutes of scouting, Big Eye, responsible for reconnaissance in the team, delivered a shocking piece of news.
"How large is it?"
"Approximately twenty square kilometers, all distributed under a surface layer of rock less than twenty centimeters thick..."
"..."
"This isn't scientific!"
"How could a normal oil field be this shallow!"
"If only this were in my world... I could lie back and be an oil baron."
Even with their meager knowledge of geography, they found this utterly abnormal. With a mere twenty-centimeter barrier, they were effectively floating on an ocean of oil.
This might be a stroke of immense luck for an oil exploration team, but for a Reincarnator squad that had blundered into it, it was no different from entering a minefield. Even a single spark could instantly transform the area into a hell of cascading explosions and fire. The most dreadful part was that they were inexplicably at the very center of this oil field! No matter which direction they tried to leave, they still had to travel at least four or five kilometers. They had to proceed with extreme caution.
"Everyone, don't be stingy. Those who can't fly, stick a Flying Talisman on yourselves and fly south. Get out of this place first." In their moment of crisis, the captain still displayed the necessary resolve. Although a Flying Talisman wasn't cheap, without their lives, they had nothing. This damned place was truly bizarre; it was best to leave as soon as possible.
"Another sword strike."
This time, Bai Mo added a little more power, roughly five times that of the previous strike. Still, it had no effect on the light mass.
"It's useless. Pure power is meaningless before a world. It's just a gift." Wu Ming muttered to himself inside the Main God Temple. Unfortunately, he dared not voice these words aloud, because according to the data remaining in the Main God's core database, even merely communicating with an expert of that external level could potentially affect one's mind. Thus, Wu Ming could only make the Main God pretend to be a machine that accepted no information exchange. His true body was too weak; if not for his ability to control the Main God, there would have been no possibility of direct confrontation. He might have been brainwashed into a mindless fan in a single encounter.
Of course, this "weakness" was merely relative. Wu Ming's own strength was also among the best of the Six Tiers. In the Federation, he would be considered a major feudal lord. It was simply that before a Celestial Immortal, he was not worth mentioning.
"Finally, we escaped."
The Reincarnator squad, which had blundered deep into the surface oil field, finally managed to flee from the spewing oil pillars after using several Flying Talismans. Their faces were etched with the four characters for "utter exhaustion". This wasn't due to the physical toll of the Flying Talismans, but rather the fatigue brought on by prolonged, intense mental tension. As they flew, oil pillars would occasionally erupt from the ground, some even already burning. Every few meters, they had to worry if a pillar of fire would suddenly shoot up ahead.
