Chapter 666: Fear

Before Ming Qi could react much to Bai Mo's words, the girl beside them already had stars in her eyes.

She had been interested in all sorts of mysterious powers since she was little. After witnessing two grand masters face off today and failing to win over Ming Qi, she began to scheme about winning over Bai Mo instead.

"Excuse me..."

"No." Bai Mo directly cut off her bold thought.

"I haven't even said..." The girl began drawing circles in the corner.

"I'm making my move!" Silent Angel brought out her usual tactic for dealing with these "senior experts."

Bai Mo glanced at her and nodded lightly.

"Silent Sanctuary!"

A cold gleam flashed, and the longsword in Ming Qi's hand was already less than ten centimeters from Bai Mo's nose.

He had originally intended to block it, but in the end, he lowered his half-raised hand, adopting an attitude as if allowing the sword to pierce him.

Ming Qi, clad in her white combat helmet, revealed a triumphant smile, yet the sword in her hand didn't slow down in the slightest.

"Hiss, hiss, hiss, hiss..."

The silver longsword mercilessly pierced Bai Mo's face, emitting a grating, uncomfortable metallic friction sound.

Only then did the girl, still drawing circles to the side, react, frantically covering her ears.

"Silent Sanctuary, interesting." Bai Mo, taking the sword with his face, even had the presence of mind to smile.

"It converts all kinetic energy within a one-meter radius of the sword's body into thermal energy, affecting the target's attempt to block, forcing them to endure it with their bare body." He spent an eighth of a second understanding the principle behind Ming Qi's sword strike.

This sword technique was incredibly underhanded. If both sides were wielding swords, the moment the attacked party's sword entered one meter of her longsword, it would immediately lose all kinetic energy, requiring a re-acceleration to deal damage.

However, after re-accelerating, it would once again be stripped of all its kinetic energy, just like a mage being relentlessly bombarded with "Silence" spells. Forget attacking, even their defensive rhythm would be completely disrupted.

"You're very impressive. My previous opponent, the fastest one, took eleven sword strikes to figure out the problem." Ming Qi continued to apply insane pressure to the longsword, yet it still couldn't pierce Bai Mo's face.

Intense sparks flew everywhere, but that bit of skin remained perpetually out of reach, like a distance measured in inches yet truly a world away.

This projection wasn't particularly sturdy, but Bai Mo was drawing an endless supply of regeneration from the Void Realm, making the speed of the longsword's destruction far slower than his recovery speed.

So, it looked as if he possessed a thick face that could never be pierced.

...

"It looks like it's going to rain, Heping, go bring in the laundry."

At this moment in New York City, the sky suddenly turned overcast without warning.

"We now broadcast an urgent announcement: Red Typhoon Warning Signal is now in effect. An extremely abnormal Super Typhoon Eye of Category 16 has emerged near the coast. Citizens, please pay attention to your safety and try to avoid outdoor activities."

"Apologies, updating broadcast now: The typhoon has weakened to a Category 11 tropical cyclone. The Red Typhoon Warning Signal has been lifted..."

Two consecutive self-contradictory broadcasts left the news anchor on TV looking somewhat awkward.

"Eight typhoons forming simultaneously over the ocean and then disappearing instantly, what's wrong with the climate of this plane..." Through the micro spy satellites launched earlier, the Hell Squad, currently lounging in a noble's home, distinctly sensed that something was amiss.

Under normal circumstances, how could eight typhoons suddenly form at the same time and then all weaken together?

They hadn't even made landfall yet...

"Could 'Angel' be behind this?"

"If that woman had the power to summon eight typhoons, she wouldn't just be slightly stronger than our team."

"These eight were all genuine hurricanes, each capable of ravaging an entire province—a natural disaster!"

"Quiet down, everyone." The black-suited captain cleared his throat.

"The waters of this plane run deep. Divination results show that Silent Angel is locked in a fierce battle with a native." The captain, uncharacteristically, took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of terrifying eyes with only whites.

"In a world where extraordinary powers aren't apparent, and with only our two teams involved in the mission, there shouldn't be any high-tier native martial artists. It's more likely someone from the inter-realm portal."

"Possibly."

"I think we might have gotten caught in a massive vortex..."

Most of the worlds experienced by Reincarnators in the Main God Temple allowed for pre-knowledge of the plot. Only a few missions required Reincarnators to explore for themselves.

These missions were generally much more difficult than others, occasionally even revealing the tip of the iceberg of some terrifying existences.

"Side Quest Issued: Eliminate the target shown. Reward: 10,000 points. Current target location: New York City, Southeast District." The Main God Temple directly projected Bai Mo's face into everyone's minds.

"This person... they want our two teams to cooperate to kill him?"

Combining this with the recent divination results, the black-suited captain immediately guessed that the target was precisely the enemy who had driven Silent Angel into a bitter struggle!

"How long has it been since we've done a cooperation mission with another team...?"

"Captain, have you noticed... he's smiling."

"He? Who?"

"Our target. Recall his face; it really looks like he's smiling at us." The bald giant, who had always seemed fearless, was trembling as he said this.

"Now that you mention it, it does seem... Ahhh! Dad, I was wrong, I shouldn't have listened to him and killed you..."

When the blonde girl, Ellie, recreated Bai Mo's face, a deep-seated fear was instantly triggered within her, pushing her to the brink of a mental breakdown.

"Ancient Old One!!!" Watching Ellie's contorted face, memories of the horrors they had endured when the Main God Temple had sent them to an Outer God world resurfaced in their minds!

It was an ineffable terror.

"Everyone, don't try to recall that face again; it's definitely an Outer God's projection!" Seeing this, the captain had no choice but to step forward immediately and temporarily knock out the blonde girl and the giant, who were enveloped in fear.

...

"I don't believe anyone is without weaknesses! Ora ora ora ora ora ora ora ora ora!"

Ming Qi was deeply provoked by Bai Mo's audacious move of taking the sword with his face. She switched her white combat suit to overclocked mode and unleashed a sword storm of 1,500 strikes per second upon Bai Mo.

The sword's output was so incredibly fast that it even stirred up the surrounding winds and clouds.

Sounds became distorted, and sights became twisted.

The longsword, frictionally rubbing against the air at a frantic pace, forcibly heated a trace amount of air into plasma.

Yet, her control over her strength was excellent; hardly any attack leaked beyond her five-meter radius.

The girl drawing circles nearby, even having donned her lollipop combat suit, still trembled uncontrollably amidst this catastrophe.

"Is that even human?" The speed of the longsword's thrust completely surpassed her visual limit.

...

"No matter how hard a machine gun tries, it can't pierce the Earth."

After twenty seconds of Ming Qi's cool metal storm, the longsword was finally seized.

During those thirty thousand sword strikes, Bai Mo's projection had regenerated sixty-two times, consuming an amount of power that would take his main body a full breath to recover.

At the same time, because he had deployed power exceeding the limit, the residual waves had churned up eight hurricanes in the ocean.

Fortunately, under his deliberate guidance, these hurricanes almost perfectly offset each other in pairs; otherwise, the coastal cities of the three major nations would have suffered another catastrophic disaster.
