Chapter 617: Earth-Shattering Tremors

"Area-of-effect attack," the Black-Clad Knight transmitted.

The map-wide attack unleashed by a six-tier powerhouse at full strength—even its lingering aftershock, if it merely grazed him, would be enough to easily kill Long Chengwu, who was leisurely sipping a drink, enjoying a private massage, and watching his Ghostly Puppet trounce Liu Wu.

This guy didn't seem like he was here for a fight; he looked more like he was on vacation.

A luxurious RV, a mobile kitchen, beautiful and sexy female companions, all surrounded by a ring of bodyguards.

From start to finish, Long Chengwu had never taken Liu Wu seriously.

The Ghostly Puppet's excellent performance over the years had inflated his ego to an extreme degree, causing him to completely disregard the intelligence provided by his subordinates.

"Leeks should just lie flat in the field, waiting to be harvested, right...?"

He firmly believed his scythe was indestructible. Although Liu Wu, this stubborn leek, was a bit troublesome, it was merely a matter of taking a few extra cuts.

A leek trying to stop a chariot would, in the end, only be crushed into leek blossoms by the torrent of power.

...

"Surrender."

A squad of soldiers, clad in black uniforms with red characters, their cloaks emblazoned with the words "Justice," led a dozen trembling civilians through the heavily fortified outer blockade to the scene.

During the several hours of confrontation between the two sides, these soldiers, having received orders from their superiors, had used a pre-obtained list to apprehend a group of people closely related to Liu Wu before his imprisonment, hoping to force him into submission.

"You...!!!" Scanning his trembling relatives and friends held hostage in the distance, the last precarious string in his heart finally snapped.

Originally, he had been struggling with whether or not to detonate the All-Phenomena Gravity Device Control Tower, making the Moon collide with Mars.

Destroying the world, destroying the environment he once lived in, destroying everything he once cherished, and then dying—this was not an easy decision to make; it required more courage than simple suicide.

...

Unfortunately, these fully armed soldiers immediately aimed their guns at the hostages.

"You... you call that justice?!" Liu Wu felt a fire incessantly burning in his chest, as if he'd been forced to drink an entire bottle of Water of Life, the burning sensation searing his heart.

"Our justice is about protecting the greatest number of people at the minimum cost," the square-faced military leader stated, his aura completely unyielding to Liu Wu's pressure.

"You have threatened the continued existence of humanity. In the face of survival, all other morals must yield."

...

"Lieutenant General Mo Li Si, what is the meaning of this?" Besides Liu Wu, Long Chengwu was also displeased by the act of taking hostages.

He looked down on Liu Wu, and he also looked down on Mo Li Si for intending to force a surrender using hostages.

In Long Chengwu's view, how was this any different from losing to the AI in a video game and then threatening it into surrender by unplugging the power? It was all just dirty play.

As he was enjoying the thrill of trouncing a weaker opponent, he really disliked anyone barging in and ruining the fun.

Anyway, his father would handle everything in the end; he just needed to enjoy the game.

"Young Master Long, we are merely acting under orders from above," Major General Mo Li Si stated, adopting an unyielding, businesslike expression.

Mo Li Si's direct superior, Edward Teach, the man known as the "Strongest Black-Winged Individual," could likely trounce Long Chengwu's father, Long Tianxiang, with just one of his three avatars. Therefore, Mo Li Si retorted without the slightest hesitation.

"You...!!!" This time, Long Chengwu snatched Liu Wu's line.

"You—are—great!" Long Chengwu uttered those three words, almost grinding his teeth.

To him, face was far more important than some damn Liu Wu. He didn't care how he would dispose of Liu Wu later, but to steal his thunder and interrupt his entertainment now was a complete disregard for his dignity.

"Thank you for the compliment, Young Master Long. Maintaining social stability is our responsibility," Mo Li Si continued, twisting the knife, seemingly afraid he hadn't provoked the other party enough.

Too many people resented Long Chengwu's arrogance, but very few dared to openly challenge him. Those without the ability wouldn't even consider it, and those who did have the ability disdained bullying a junior. After all, Long Tianxiang was extremely protective of his own, and it wasn't worth offending him over trivial matters.

...

The dirty dealings between the two sides went unnoticed by outsiders. Liu Wu, already a volcano ready to erupt, naturally didn't know that Mo Li Si was being directed by others. He only assumed that Long Chengwu, that villain, was the instigator of it all.

The old grudge of being cuckolded, coupled with the new animosity of his relatives being threatened—this double dose of hatred was heaped upon Long Chengwu.

If Liu Wu were the Hulk, his current rage level would probably be enough to let him trounce the entire world.

...

"What is Teach up to...? Does he really want to force this little guy to his death? Logically, this has little to do with him; with his 'never gets up early without profit' nature, he would never bother with such matters."

The Black-Clad Knight knew that Mo Li Si was a direct subordinate of Edward Teach, and only Teach himself could have given the command to engage in such dirty business.

Recalling that man who was usually gloomy and full of schemes, he suddenly felt as if a colossal hand was manipulating everything from behind the scenes.

On the scene, whether it was Liu Wu, acting like a rabid dog, or Long Chengwu, leisurely composed, both were merely unwitting actors.

...

"Surrender. I promise, in the name of the Luminous Holy Covenant, that your family will not be harmed again, and you will not be sentenced to death." Mo Li Si still seemed unwilling to give up on persuading him to surrender.

"Who do you think you are? What's your promise worth? Did you swallow the Federal National Security Law?" Liu Wu, infuriated, burst into laughter instead, retorting defiantly.

He knew well enough that if his actions were judged according to Federal law, he would deserve to die ten times over.

However, from the moment he was wrongfully imprisoned in the Geocentric Grand Prison, his former trust in the law had completely vanished.

"We, are the law," Mo Li Si stated with utmost frankness, speaking his true thoughts, then lightly patted Long Chengwu's shoulder.

A gentle breeze swept through, causing the two blood-red characters for "Justice" on his cloak to flutter in the wind behind him.

"..."

"Such trash laws, such a trash world, there's absolutely no need for any of it to exist!" After hearing Mo Li Si's words, Liu Wu felt that the entire world was utterly beyond saving.

Blow it up.

Blow it up.

Destroy everything.

This twisted world, full of injustice.

A voice within his heart incessantly urged him to act.

...

"Let's die together!"

Before his words had even finished, Liu Wu's body exploded, transforming into a swirling violet mist, leaving only his head suspended forlornly in mid-air, several streams of purple energy continuously swirling in and out of the back of his head.

But even in this bizarre state, he did not die; instead, a sinister grin spread across his lips.

The violet mist, expanding wildly outwards, began to occupy every inch of the surrounding space, consciously surging especially towards Mo Li Si and Long Chengwu.

Unfortunately, the Ghostly Puppet, spontaneously protecting its master, was still a step faster than the violet mist, deploying its defenses before it could engulf everyone.

However, soon, the toxic mist wouldn't be their only concern...

The sky trembles!

The earth shakes!
