Chapter 611: Both Sides Suffer Losses

“Finally, I got it.” A surge of purple power erupted from behind Liu Wu, manifesting into a peculiar phantom resembling a doppelganger.

The purple phantom lunged forward, merging into the main control panel behind him.

In an instant, Liu Wu felt as though the control panel had become an extension of his own body; a mere thought from his mind could issue any command to it, completing various tasks.

...

Just as he was reveling in this sensation, a black spear pierced through the ceiling of the fifteenth floor, embedding itself directly into the floor.

The black flames coiling around the spear continued to relentlessly corrode the surrounding concrete and stones.

The exposed rebar, facing this layer of black fire, proved hardly tougher than brittle biscuits, crumbling to the floor with a crackle and pop.

“Too bad, you're too late,” Liu Wu, his entire body enshrouded in purple flames, said to the black-clad man wielding the black spear.

“Justice is never late.”

“You dare speak of justice?!” Liu Wu suddenly grew agitated.

The word ‘justice’ seemed like a sharp blade piercing deep into his heart.

...

With a resounding bang, before Liu Wu could even react, the black knight's ‘Qi’ pierced through the back of his head, and Liu Wu's head exploded like a watermelon.

“A pitiful wretch with power, but no reaction speed to command it.” After the dust settled, the knight, spear in hand, scoffed.

From the moment he first saw Liu Wu, the black knight had known his opponent's true nature.

Essentially, he was merely a fellow whose power had been temporarily elevated by some entity, completely ignorant of the rules of the game at this level, and utterly unaware that battles among Six Tiers powerhouses were measured in milliseconds.

In the mere blink of an eye, a gap born from Liu Wu's human instinct, the black knight thrust his spear dozens of times into the exact same spot at the back of his head.

These dozens of thrusts, precisely aimed at the same point and layered together, effortlessly pierced through the purple power's defenses.

...

However, even after losing his head, Liu Wu's corpse did not fall as expected.

His headless body merely swayed slightly, and within half a second, a new head had sprouted.

With a grotesque squirming of flesh, he had perfectly recovered.

However, a keen observer might have noticed that Liu Wu's newly regenerated face appeared slightly more feminine than before, or perhaps, more alluring.

But just as he was about to complete his regeneration, a black spear reappeared behind him.

This time, the black spear directly pierced through his entire back.

The tremendous impact force tore through the already dilapidated fifteenth-floor, pinning Liu Wu firmly to the fourteenth floor; however, even the rebar of the fourteenth-floor seemed unable to withstand this power, and was smashed into a terrifying arc.

Sensing that something was amiss, the black knight unleashed an even stronger attack; he had a premonition that if he couldn't kill his opponent at the fastest speed, he would never have another chance.

...

Alas, it was of no use. Liu Wu, pinned to the floor, forcibly tore his body in half, using the black spear as the dividing line.

And the next moment, his upper and lower halves reconnected under the influence of some eerie power.

Fleshy tendrils frantically sprouted from the stitched wound, and after moving out of the spear's corrosive range, they reconnected the two halves of his body once more.

At this moment, his body resembled a broken doll, forcibly stitched back together.

“You can't kill me.” Liu Wu looked at his opponent, revealing an eerie smile. The purple whites of his eyes added a touch of suspense to the atmosphere.

“There's nothing that can't be killed. If a hundred thrusts aren't enough, then I'll use a thousand.” The black knight hefted his spear, poised to strike.

As a legendary knight who had fought his way to the Six Tiers through his own efforts, the black-clad warrior had slain countless demons and monsters, so he naturally wouldn't be frightened by such a minor issue.

...

“I'm not here to trouble you today.” After reshaping his body, Liu Wu's personality seemed to have shifted slightly.

“...”

The black knight was speechless. Liu Wu had torn down the very place he was responsible for guarding, leaving it in ruins, and now he claimed he wasn't looking for trouble?

“The one I'm after is the Nether Hunter.”

“Why are you bringing the Nether Hunter here to my place...?”

The Nether Hunter Liu Wu spoke of was another Six Tiers council member in the Federation. The black knight's relationship with him wasn't great; in fact, it could even be described as somewhat hostile. This made him even more bewildered.

Moreover, every Six Tiers powerhouse on the Moon had a name and a reputation, yet this purple power seemed utterly foreign.

He was momentarily at a loss, unable to tell whose puppet Liu Wu, standing before him, truly was.

...

“You'll know soon enough.”

“Nether Hunter Long Tianxiang! I'm giving you twenty-four hours to make your idiotic son commit suicide live in front of everyone, otherwise, I'll blow up the Omni-Directional Gravity Device, and the entire Moon will die with him!”

After answering the black knight's question, he used all his might to broadcast this message via psychic waves, directly to the entire Moon.

After uttering these words, Liu Wu let out a hearty, unrestrained laugh, looking as if his great vendetta had finally been avenged.

“Do you even know what you're doing?!” The black knight was on the verge of collapse. He suspected that the enemy before him was insane.

To actually choose to hold all of humanity hostage to force a council member's son to commit suicide.

“This precedent absolutely cannot be set.” He reacted immediately, realizing that if such a precedent were to be established, and everyone resorted to such vile tactics in the future, would humanity even survive?

The black knight himself disliked Long Tianxiang, but he would never resort to such a mutually destructive method to deal with him.

...

“You, leave my one-kilometer radius immediately, or else...” Liu Wu pointed to the “hostage” in his hand as he spoke to the black knight.

“...” With his vital point seized, the black knight, as a guardian, could only temporarily compromise, transforming into a gust of wind and moving a kilometer away.

To him, however, a thousand meters was but a few steps. He completely failed to grasp its significance.

What truly couldn't afford any issues was the Omni-Directional Gravity Device. To facilitate easier landings, the Moon Fortress and Mars were pathetically close to each other; at their closest, they were less than twenty thousand kilometers apart.

Without the protection of the Omni-Directional Gravity Device, the Moon and Mars, being so close, would immediately ‘kiss’ each other under their mutual gravitational pull, staging a truly cataclysmic collision of heavens and earth.

At that point, apart from Five Tiers and Six Tiers powerhouses capable of long-term survival in space, not a single other person would survive.

If only this extreme minority of them survived, it would be truly unbearable.

Without the masses to serve as their foil, could the elites still be called elites?
