Chapter 452: Snow

Several large white hands suddenly appeared from the void, severing the energy connection between Xu and the microwave emission base.

"Boom!"

"Boom!"

"Bang!"

Deprived of the immense energy required to maintain its super-low temperature, the condensed matter rapidly heated under the erosive thermal convection of the surrounding normal-temperature air. It reverted to its original state in less than ten seconds, emitting muffled explosions one after another.

"How is this the only effect?!" Xu's controller exclaimed in utter astonishment, uttering those final words upon seeing the outcome.

The fragments of their will left on the carriers instantly vanished into ash and smoke along with the liquid light bodies, and their digitized consciousness within the main host temporarily fell into slumber.

The annihilation explosion, originally capable of leveling an entire city, now merely blasted a hollow less than twenty meters in diameter in its immediate vicinity. All excess destructive power was absorbed by the Xuanhua fluctuations spread throughout the battlefield.

The terrifying energy impact, using the fluctuations as a medium, was silently diffused and spread outwards, quickly settling down. To the ordinary soldiers below the battlefield, it appeared as if they were merely cigarette butts casually snuffed out, not a single trace of their impact escaping.

...

"Report, all four defensive perimeters are complete, estimated to withstand the super-tsunami arriving in forty-seven seconds!" Just as Yamamoto frowned, observing the rampaging Eye of Heaven, the report from his subordinate finally allowed him to relax slightly.

As Yamato is surrounded by sea, it couldn't abandon its coastal regions and relocate its cities inland like other nations. Therefore, they constructed spirit energy protective shields, similar to those first built by the Huaxia Federation back then, for each of their four existing major city clusters, to resist the Sea Race's onslaught.

Thus, on this day, these city defense spirit energy shields, originally built to the highest specifications, were once again urgently activated by Yamato, protecting the nation's main territories from the destructive flood.

Among the frontline troops, many initially felt the impulse to return to the rear to rescue people, as their relatives and friends were all behind the lines, causing them immense anxiety.

But upon hearing a notification from the frontline command, they stopped, half-believing, half-doubting, their eyes showing the same intense bewilderment as Yamamoto.

No one was clear what purpose the actions of that entity, which they weren't even sure could still be called a human, truly served.

...

"Have you noticed that the tsunami's speed seems to have slowed?" After multiple layers of spirit energy shields and Yin-Yang formations were raised, the city's real-time monitoring command center discovered this fact via battlefield monitoring instruments.

"Thirty-five meters per second, thirty-four point eight, thirty-four point six..." Watching the speed parameters uniformly decrease in an arithmetic progression, the technical personnel in the underground bunker felt even more perplexed.

A tsunami does slow down upon making landfall, but the deceleration is absolutely non-linear; it wouldn't uniformly decrease as it is now. These bizarre data made them suspect that the speedometers were malfunctioning.

"At this rate, the speed of the waves... will be precisely zero upon reaching the defensive perimeter!" A technician with a knack for mental calculations shouted his result aloud a few seconds later.

"What exactly is he trying to do..." The latest result from the rear command center once again filled Yamamoto with doubt; he found himself utterly unable to comprehend what that person was thinking.

Because accompanying Bai Mo's arrival was a tsunami powerful enough to submerge all of Yamato, yet it had been calculated to stop precisely before the protective shields.

"Why did it suddenly get so cold?"

"Damn it, it's snowing!"

Watching the approaching tsunami and the inexplicably appearing snowflakes, the people in the command center grew tense once more.

Although they had extensive experience in battling the Sea Race, in previous conflicts, at most, only localized anomalous environments would appear. But this boundless blizzard, arriving hand-in-hand with the tsunami, was a truly enormous challenge to their common sense.

"Monitoring instruments outside the defensive perimeters show that as the tsunami's speed continuously decreases, the surrounding temperature is also rapidly dropping without pause!"

"That eye, can it actually affect the weather of all Yamato?"

"Our imagination, after all, is limited by power..." A low-ranking officer gazed at the swirling snow outside the window, sighing with emotion.

Compared to a tsunami intending to submerge an entire nation, and an endless blizzard, he felt himself to be utterly insignificant.

...

"According to our intelligence, the weather of the Land of White is already entirely controlled by that so-called system, so it's not surprising for such counter-intuitive situations to arise."

"All of you remaining here are brave warriors willing to fight for the defense of Yamato; you absolutely must not abandon your convictions because of this eerie weather!"

The rear commander, seeing morale plummet once again, had no choice but to step forward and speak personally.

Unfortunately, his words had little effect. If it hadn't been for the calculation that the tsunami would stop precisely, the situation below would likely have already devolved into complete chaos.

The truly elite fighting forces had long since been led to the front lines by Yamamoto to confront the invaders. The soldiers remaining in the rear of Kyoto were almost all Tier Two combatants or below.

They would have been purely throwing their lives away on that battlefield, which was akin to a battle of gods, not even counting as cannon fodder.

Because the indiscriminate, unceasing infrasound wave sweep reverberating across the entire battlefield would pulverize the internal organs of any life form without Life Field protection, causing them to die in extreme agony.

Against the Sea Race, who were also creatures of flesh and blood, these soldiers could be courageous and fearless. But facing such a ferocious, world-ending natural disaster, they didn't even know what they could do. Were they supposed to fire cannons at a tsunami?

A sense of bewilderment continually spread through the command center. Before the battle, they had envisioned defeat on the front lines, with the enemy's grand army pressing in, forcing Yamato to defend its four major metropolitan areas to the death. They had even considered brutal urban warfare. But never had they prepared for being defeated by a natural disaster.

The increasingly slow tsunami, originally under the influence of gravity, should have gradually been unable to sustain its height of over ten stories. The wall of water would slowly collapse, until it finally fell powerlessly.

However, this eerie tsunami clearly had a hidden hand guiding it, making it defy humanity's previous understanding of natural tsunami dynamics.

The nearly hundred-meter-tall giant wave, after making landfall, still did not lose its momentum, continuing to advance steadily like a towering wall, remarkably similar to an army poised for battle.

"If the temperature continues to drop like this... our entire Kyoto metropolitan area will be frozen solid. Computer simulations show that after the tsunami's seawater freezes, it will form an ice cap, covering us all within!"

Several field meteorologists anxiously reported their newly simulated results to the command center.

P.S.: Finally 1,000,000 characters... one step closer to the 4,000,000 character goal (manual side-eye).
