Chapter 450: Five Seconds
The fear of the unknown, in many instances, inflicted more negative consequences upon intelligent life than the actual harm itself.
After years of studying human society, they believed that nothing could achieve such a feat silently and without a trace, not even that supreme god, whose attacks would surely leave some mark.
Yet, this very notion was mercilessly shattered today by the black technology from Yamato.
The Void, utilizing liquid light as its carrier for such kite-fighting tactics, was undoubtedly a nightmare for its enemies. The only regrettable part was that their attack power remained too weak compared to the defensive and regenerative capabilities of Six-Tier lifeforms.
Nevertheless, relying on their abnormal attack speed, dozens of extreme cold impacts per second still yielded quite considerable results.
"Annoying flies!" Bahamut, helpless against such attacks, decided to activate its area-of-effect mode. Its logic was simple: if it couldn't determine the source of the attacks, then it would simply destroy everything it saw.
"Sizzle... sizzle..."
Heart-palpitating purple energy clusters continuously gathered around Bahamut, occasionally giving birth to blue-white electric arcs. It brazenly prepared its area-of-effect clear-out, utterly disregarding the large numbers of its own allies still on the battlefield.
The rampant energy body even connected with the thunderclouds higher above, and accompanied by the sweeping gales, an extraordinary thundercloud storm slowly began to form.
"Black Flame Fire Rain!"
Watching Bahamut prepare its clearing ultimate move, and having also been attacked no less than dozens of times in half a second, the highly agitated Phoenix arrived at the same conclusion.
In the preceding battles, Phoenix had largely been half-assing it, as the power disparity between the two sides was simply too vast.
The Four Holy Beasts were all among the elite of the Six Tiers, while on Yamato's side, there were nominally four Six-Tier combatants, but in truth, only two of them could truly exchange blows evenly with the Holy Beasts.
The other two were merely transcendent beings who, before the battle, had sacrificed their futures and prematurely overdrawn their potential for this victory, making their combat strength slightly inferior to that of genuine Six-Tiers.
Originally, within Yamato, there was another man on par with Yamamoto—Yin-Yang Master Kumiki. However, he adamantly believed that the rise of the Land of White was unstoppable, and proactively abandoned everything, leaving Yamato ahead of time.
"How much longer can the Void's microwave energy supply last?" Yamamoto, finally temporarily freed from his passive situation, posed this question to the Void Warrior's technical maintenance team.
To maintain the ultra-low temperature, one of the conditions for liquid light's existence, astronomical amounts of energy were consumed every minute and every second. All this energy had to be transmitted from the rear, regardless of cost, through microwave energy transmission technology.
Once the output power overloaded and the transmitting side could no longer continue energy transmission, this highly unstable condensed matter would disintegrate within a few seconds.
...
Phoenix's seemingly perpetually burning feathers, tinged with dark green flames, swept in all directions, indiscriminately invading every corner.
The inexplicable attacks and imperceptible enemies made it increasingly irritable.
"Gentlemen, I have an idea..."
After realizing that even the enemy's strongest individuals were helpless against them, several Void Warriors, through their data network, devised an even bolder decapitation strike.
Their success on the Yamato battlefield had greatly bolstered their confidence.
The impending area-of-effect attack couldn't even touch a corner of their clothing. This black-tech-like condensed matter carrier, liquid light, provided them with super speed akin to instantaneous movement.
Moreover, this instantaneous movement was ultra-long-range, sufficient to traverse an entire country in an instant.
"We'll directly bombard the White Month, detonate the flowing light, and end that demon's reign!"
Their consciousnesses had already been digitized; even if the carrier body holding a portion of their thoughts was destroyed, they wouldn't completely perish.
Yet, even for a suicidal charge destined for death, these warriors, who had undergone multiple brainwashing sessions before their modification, would not hesitate in the slightest.
To perish with the enemy like falling cherry blossoms, eliminating as many of the enemy's pieces as possible, was precisely their noble goal. Even though the war-torn Yamato had very few surviving cherry blossom trees, this persistent dedication still flowed in the hearts of many.
Now, with the possibility of ending it all and winning freedom for their homeland, they were willing to make any sacrifice.
"Our assault will only take five seconds. Even that demon absolutely won't be able to react in time."
"The Soul of Yamato lives forever!"
They prepared to crash directly into the enemy's target, just like the historical Sakura fighter jets, exchanging their own destruction for a chance to perish alongside the enemy.
At the instant of its annihilation, liquid light would release an unprecedented, terrifying power capable of destroying everything. This was the information they had gleaned from the operation manual.
"Set the movement destination to these coordinates. I'll count down five seconds on the timer. In five seconds, we must all appear simultaneously at the White Month." The Void Warrior, acting as temporary leader, called up the precise coordinates of the White Month, which Yamato had only obtained after sacrificing a group of divination-type Yin-Yang Masters.
The Land of White, shrouded by its unseen nanite swarm, blocked the prying eyes of most, yet for the sake of this anti-Bai war, Yamato had still spared no expense in gathering intelligence, including the exact location of the White Month.
"According to the computer's simulations, the liquid light body will take 1.15 seconds to melt through the nanite defense belt. Everyone must not linger for a single moment, because this defense belt will frantically reinforce the attacked area once it senses an assault."
"If we're delayed for more than five seconds, it's likely even we won't easily escape, and we'll also tip off the enemy, causing the plan to fail."
"Yes!"
"May our martial fortune prosper!"
After this pep talk, the final countdown began. They no longer paid attention to the Four Holy Beasts, who were preparing to unleash a furious output of attacks, instead shifting their target to the distant Bai Mo.
As long as they could kill the instigator of everything, this army composed of mutated creatures before them would have no reason to continue fighting, and Yamato would be preserved.
"Five!"
"Four!"
"Three!"
...
"It's over." Just as the countdown reached three, an unfamiliar voice suddenly appeared within the communication network formed by all the Void Warriors.
"Who are you!" one of the Void Warriors exclaimed in shock. This was clearly not a signal from a teammate.
"Continue with the original plan! Move out!" The leader ignored the interference, believing that as long as they acted quickly enough, the decapitation strike could still succeed.
"This farce is over."
