Chapter 448: God Body

Language is a chasm that separates different people, preventing them from fully understanding each other.

People using different native languages naturally possess vastly different ways of thinking. When mental waves replace spoken language for communication, it is, in a sense, equivalent to both parties sharing a "native language," thereby largely alleviating this issue.

Because this new form of communication has almost entirely stripped away the linguistic medium, directly transmitting "meaning" itself through waves.

However, this powerful function, born from humanity's "evolution" due to spirit qi, actually places a considerable burden on the brain's comprehensive processing capabilities.

To fully conceptualize "meaning," the brain must perform extremely profound processing of fragmented information, which naturally leads to immense consumption.

Therefore, only cultivators who have developed a Life Field and stepped into the third tier can begin to learn this more advanced form of communication to a limited extent, learning how to better express their inner thoughts using mental waves.

And if one wishes to use mental waves freely without any pressure, transmitting one's will at will to others, they would have to wait until the fourth tier, when the brain's Spirit Energy-ization truly activates.

The new modified humans are different, however; in Bai Mo's design, they don't solely rely on their own brains for thought. A significant portion of information processing tasks is actually handed over to the consciousness network he named the God Body.

The relationship between the God Body and the modified humans can be partially seen as that between a server and its clients. The configuration of a single client's hardware does not impose any limitations on the stable operation of the entire system.

As long as the minimum requirements for information transmission are met, the server can enable the terminal to complete tasks far exceeding its own capabilities.

Thus, even an ordinary person connected to the God Body is sufficient to utilize skills like mental waves, which demand a considerably high comprehensive information processing capability from the brain.

And all of this stems from Bai Mo's immense power, which transformed into the transmission network itself.

From the subconscious to thought, the God Body subtly and overtly connects every modified human within the network, allowing him to issue extremely complex commands directly to his "cells," much like a central nervous system directing the body, and even allocate idle information processing resources within the thought network.

When designing the prototype of the God Body, Bai Mo discovered that no matter when or where, there are always far more people who aren't actively thinking (their brains aren't engaged in high-intensity thought) than those who are (their brains are currently engaged in high-intensity thought).

Rather than squandering this idle computing power, letting it vanish into the gaps of time, it would be better to allocate it to more advantageous places, creating greater value for the Land of White.

...

"If I'm not mistaken, this is the fifth time we've circled back to this corner." Liu Lai Ya's mental waves carried five parts bewilderment, three parts worry, and two parts a faint fear.

The two of them had completely lost their sense of direction within the labyrinthine White Month, scrambling around like headless flies.

"Don't worry, there's always a way out."

The youthful-looking Ning Tong Xuan struggled internally, debating whether to unleash a destructive Spirit Art now and blast through this endless maze.

He worried that the moment he made a move, he would attract the "aliens" he imagined. Although he boasted of being able to punch one to smithereens, in reality, among humanity's most deeply impressed aliens, whether Sa Qia Si Ji or the Disciple of the Crimson World, both were beings that could crush him with a pinky.

Recklessly exposing himself was undoubtedly an extremely dangerous endeavor.

"I wonder what the outside world has become. My family probably thinks I'm dead. I hope my wife hasn't remarried with the child..." To distract himself and calm down, Ning Tong Xuan repeatedly forced himself to think about things unrelated to their current predicament.

The result, however, was that the more he thought, the more depressed he became.

Yet he didn't realize that since his "rebirth," his feelings for his wife and child in his memories seemed to have faded considerably with the passage of time.

Even when he thought of them leaving him, it was merely a helpless, bitter smile mixed with a hint of melancholy, completely lacking the bone-deep agony of losing a loved one.

For a portion of his emotions had, silently and imperceptibly, been drawn into Bai Mo's process of resisting Daoization.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Liu Lai Ya asked, looking into Ning Tong Xuan's eyes.

After connecting to the God Body, the communication network granted her a stronger emotional perception of others linked to it. It was precisely because of this that she could discern that the emotionless Ning Tong Xuan seemed to be feeling unwell internally.

"It's nothing!" Ning Tong Xuan stepped back, forcing a smile to deal with the young girl who seemed a bit too close, her nose almost touching his own.

The Liu Lai Ya before him, both in figure and appearance, perfectly aligned with his aesthetic, yet Ning Tong Xuan didn't know why, but he felt no great stirring for her; indeed, his heart remained utterly calm, without a single ripple.

"Emotion module operating normally." Observing Ning Tong Xuan's calm demeanor, Bai Mo confirmed the God Body's proper functioning, which could effectively alleviate some of the pressure from world assimilation for him.

As for Liu Lai Ya's earlier probe, it was merely an action he induced through subconscious suggestion. She, who was also slowly losing her emotions, was unlikely to act so proactively on her own.

The side effects for the two of them were still quite significant. Only when a large number of modified humans were connected to the God Body, and more people shared the burden, would the suppression of the terminals' emotions and self-awareness slightly diminish.

...

Just as the first phase of the God Body experiment was proceeding in full swing, the battle on Yamato's side also concluded its warm-up and began in earnest.

"Flame Spirit!"

Facing this group of true beasts, Yamamoto wasted no words. He directly drew his beloved blade, one with his very life, and launched an attack towards all non-human creatures within his field of vision.

Countless flames, like meteors, surged from his katana, accurately striking every clawing, snarling monster.

After all, the battle was taking place on Yamato's home soil. Where possible, he still wished to slightly control the range of his area-of-effect attack, lest he win only to be left with scorched earth.

The streaming flames seemed alive; no matter how the targeted creatures evaded, they always corrected their trajectories in time, continuing their pursuit until they were extinguished or the target was burned to death.

However, Yamamoto also knew that this kind of attack was only useful for clearing out minor enemies. Against the few monsters dominating the sky, such an attack held little meaning..
