Chapter 426: The Meaning of Life

"Judging by that individual's digestion speed, there are probably only ten years left. The Wizard Ark Continent project must accelerate; no one can control my fate, and he certainly won't!"

Dorag clenched his fists, staring towards the Secret Realm Forest. His turbulent emotions even caused the Wizard King's Tower to tremble faintly.

The servants cleaning nearby all lowered their heads, not daring to look in Dorag's direction, fearing they might attract his attention.

At his stage, a single thought, even a glance, possessed enough power to kill ordinary people. Every now and then, someone would be severely injured or even die due to Dorag's unintentional actions.

Yet, this didn't stop large crowds of impoverished people from queuing up. For the high salaries and the stable lives of their families, they were willing to live each day like they were walking a tightrope, just to serve by Dorag's side.

Because around him, there was a rare stable environment within the Latin Alliance. Neither the rampant bandits nor the lurking gangs dared to approach the vicinity of the great Wizard Towers.

Compared to the crime-ridden slums, the cities where the Wizard Towers were located could absolutely be called paradise. As long as they were Dorag's servants, their relatives would be allowed to live in the city without cost.

It was this very point that kept many commoners, suffering under the dark societal environment, persistently striving.

"What price did he pay to gain such power?" After his emotions had somewhat calmed, he chewed on his cigar, eyes narrowed, and the question resurfaced.

Not just Dorag, but many were perplexed by this question: How did Bai Mo surpass everyone and gain his current, excessively powerful strength?

Luck, opportunity, resources, wisdom—those who had risen above countless others were almost all self-assured, never believing they would lose to anyone else. So, their first reaction was to think that he had gained this unreasonable power through some trickery.

"It's been over a year, and the power shrouding that land grows stronger every day..."

Initially, Dorag believed he could reach the Seventh-stage Wizard realm and gain the power to contend with Bai Mo before the other's influence spread across the entire world.

But slowly, he discovered that the power emanating from the Land of White was still increasing at an alarming rate. This surge made Dorag feel that even if he could successfully advance in ten years, the gap would only widen further.

Additionally, the monsters lurking in the shadows, who called themselves the Disciple of the Crimson World, were also primary targets of his investigation. But the deeper he dug, the murkier the waters became, eventually forcing him to suspend all inquiries.

For all these reasons, Dorag ultimately decided to cooperate with the Purple Wizard King, another six-stage powerhouse, and secretly initiated the Wizard Ark Continent project... to secure a fallback for himself and the legacy of the wizarding system.

"Earth, I, Fulaistein, shall protect it!"

Shouting lines like a chuunibyou, the "Xuanwu" Fulaistein, brimming with a strange aura, waved its countless tentacles, furiously clearing out all the "treasure hunters" who had entered the forest.

To Fulaistein, these hateful humans were all invaders destroying its home. If not for the system's strict prohibition against killing, it would surely make these poachers understand the true horror of a tentacle hell.

But even so, adventurer after adventurer was stripped of all their clothing and thrown stark naked out of the forest.

Fulaistein calculated each person's tolerance limit, ensuring that everyone landed severely injured but without mortal danger.

It knew very well that the system terminal within its body might have absolute influence over lower-level life forms, but for them, the Four Holy Beasts, it was more symbolic.

What truly made the Four Holy Beasts bow their heads was Bai Mo, who stood behind the system, or rather, had become part of the system itself.

"A bunch of mere trash with a combat power of five!" Fulaistein continuously shifted its tentacles between reality and illusion, allowing the forest to remain undamaged while it cleared away what it saw as "garbage."

In its six-stage view, sweeping away these little things, which didn't even possess fifth-stage combat power, was utterly effortless.

Its ethereal body also allowed Fulaistein to roam through the forest at high speed, unlike Phoenix, who had to fly in the air to protect the forest.

"May the Lord bless him... my dear will surely return safely..."

Outside the Secret Realm, a woman sitting in a jeep silently prayed for the man who was about to make one last big score before he washed his hands of this business. She lacked the courage and power to explore the forest herself, so she could only pray for his safety in her heart.

"Boom!" A stark naked man suddenly flew out from the direction of the forest, falling heavily to the ground.

"What's going on?!" A group of onlookers came over, pointing and gesticulating at the unconscious naked man.

"Never mind that, let's revive him first."

"Right, once he's awake, we can ask him directly. That'll be much more useful than us guessing blindly."

...

No one worried that if they casually revived the man, he would turn around and try to extort them. Those who could become adventurers were almost without exception ruthless individuals.

Staging an accident for compensation? Just shoot him directly, why waste words? The law wasn't worth much in this land, and human lives were cheap.

If they hadn't wanted to know what was happening inside the forest, no one would have bothered to save a stranger, especially one with a bushy beard, and not a beautiful woman.

Of course, the unconscious man having nothing on him was another reason; with even his clothes gone, no one had the heart to kill him for treasure.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Just as everyone was busily lifting him up and preparing for first aid, several more human cannonballs flew out.

Adventurers with excellent dynamic vision saw that these "cannonballs" were all flying out of the forest stark naked, so they looked towards the depths of the woods...

"Move! Move! Let me through!" A woman's hysterical voice came from the edge of the crowd. It was Qiuzi, who had just been praying in the jeep.

Upon hearing the continuous loud bangs, Qiuzi instinctively looked towards the source of the sound, a bad premonition forming in her heart.

The premonition told her that something very bad had happened.

Qiuzi forced herself not to overthink, but the scene before her compelled her thoughts to run wild—among the several unconscious naked men flying out of the woods, one of them was precisely Qinglong, the man she worried about so much!

Speaking the local language imperfectly, Qiuzi struggled to squeeze into the heart of the crowd, then said no more. She simply wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and arduously carried her boyfriend's "body" away.

"If I die, will anyone grieve for me?"

No one stopped her. Some adventurers even found themselves pondering this thought.

A group of people who daily dreamed of sudden wealth and hovered on the edge of life and death, at this moment, suddenly began to reflect on the meaning of life...
