Chapter 391: A Millennium Pact

"Kill!!!" Xiao Yan, awakening from his stupor, thought his first reaction was that he was still on the front lines of the Sea Race battlefield, charging at the forefront and slaughtering indiscriminately.

But when he opened his mouth, instinctively wanting to utter a sound, he realized that, having transformed into a skeleton, he utterly lacked vocal organs. He could only manage a few faint wisps of wind, like a mute.

"What happened to me?" Having learned to maintain composure at all times after a full year of intense combat, Xiao Yan quickly calmed his emotions, switching to expressing himself through mental fluctuations.

"Xiao Yan, you're awake?" A familiar fluctuation emanated from the staff resting on the ground.

"You're... Sister?" Though he could clearly identify the owner of this mental fluctuation, he still found himself asking.

The exquisite staff before him, adorned with his personal gem at its tip, surprisingly emitted Xiao Xun's fluctuations, which astonished him greatly.

...

"Catching up can wait. I must complete the final step now." Bai Mo coldly interrupted their conversation.

"And who are you? Why did you turn my sister into this?! Change her back!" Xiao Yan retorted unceremoniously, his unique flames already eager to erupt. A single misstep, and he would attack instantly.

He had only just learned the immense sacrifice Xiao Xun had made for his safety, directly transforming into the spirit of a staff, and he was deeply displeased by it.

What's more, he himself had been reduced to this grotesque, neither-human-nor-ghost appearance, with nothing left but a skeletal frame and the soul fire that carried his spirit.

All of this fueled Xiao Yan's intense animosity toward the perpetrator, even if, logically, he had been "rescued" by the other party.

"Young man, do not attempt to challenge a power you do not understand." Bai Mo had no intention of explaining himself to the other party, planning instead to simply suppress this little ant.

The moment his words fell, a colossal hand, composed of countless fragments of reinforced concrete and weighing over a hundred thousand tons, suddenly emerged from the ruins, pressing down on Xiao Yan like a small mountain.

To form this giant palm, equivalent in size to a thirty-story building, all surrounding matter in the ruins was instantly pulled into the air. A hand capable of sending Ultraman flying with a single punch generated enough wind pressure from its mere movement to suffocate ordinary people.

Moreover, with a speed visible to the naked eye, the surface of the giant hand continuously underwent bizarre distortion and compression. The previously separate solid materials, under the immense pressure of some unknown force, began to show a tendency to fuse into a single entity.

"No!" Seeing this earth-shattering scene, Xiao Xun, worried for her brother, cried out from within the staff.

"Don't underestimate me!!!" Xiao Yan, who before falling unconscious believed himself infinitely close to Five-tier combat power, actually chose to resist head-on!

He intended to prove, through his absolute refusal to retreat, that his strength was truly sufficient to slay enemies beyond his own tier!

"Even for me, using vacuum disintegration to destroy this fist wouldn't be easy... especially since its molecular structure has been forcibly compressed, making it an artificially created high-density material. This kid's about to suffer a bit." Ji Er Ke Fu, watching from the side, silently assessed the power of Bai Mo's casual punch.

Due to the development of his own abilities, Ji Er Ke Fu possessed deep expertise in crystal physics and chemistry, allowing him to instantly discern what Bai Mo had done.

"Forcibly reducing molecular spacing with psychic power to compress material density, and in such a massive quantity, this is simply unwinnable."

Of course, in reality, he had somewhat overestimated Bai Mo. This avatar of Bai Mo could only twist the material structure of the fist's surface layer. A disposable weapon wasn't worth him overdrawing his main body's power to modify; merely having a sufficiently hard surface was enough.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!" Xiao Yan unleashed his entire martial will, channeling it all into his right fist, preparing for a true head-on clash.

He employed his self-created 'Battle' character-art battle qi, vowing to withstand this shadow that obscured a section of the sky.

"Mr. Bai, stop!"

"Xiao Yan, put down your fist! What kind of behavior is this?! Is that how you treat your savior?!" Xiao Xun knew full well that a monster who dared to challenge the entire world alone, and had likely succeeded, was absolutely not someone her brother could currently contend with. Thus, she subtly intervened.

This was because Xiao Yan had coincidentally fallen into a coma days before Bai Mo made his declaration, unaware of the various earth-shattering events that had transpired.

Upon hearing Xiao Xun's words, Xiao Yan, who had always heeded his sister's advice, hesitated for a moment before finally dissipating his battle qi.

"Boom!" Under the inertia of its descent, a mountain of five fingers pressed down onto the ground where Xiao Yan stood, though it conveniently left a two-person-wide hole precisely where he was. Even with a gentle lowering, the hundred-thousand-ton weight caused the surface to tremble incessantly.

Looking down from the sky, it was as if Xiao Yan was besieged by a torrent of reinforced concrete. As for the surface layer of the fist, which Bai Mo had modified to be as hard as the latest charging armor, it crumbled into a pile of dust once the psychic power was withdrawn.

"Open." Ignoring Xiao Yan, who was attempting to flee nearby, Bai Mo formally opened the passage between the Nine Netherworlds and the real world.

"Two things: first, continuously expand the layer you reside within; second, connect your layer to as many living planets as possible."

Before Bai Mo had even finished speaking, two massive webs of light shot forth from his left and right hands respectively. One enveloped Yu Xi's main body before merging into it, while the other integrated into Xiao Yan's body.

"I grant each of you the authority to govern a layer of the Nine Netherworlds. In exchange, for the next thousand years, as long as you live, you must continue this mission. After a millennium, you are free to stay or leave." With a casual wave, Bai Mo sealed a millennium-long agreement.

"Detailed information has already been stored on the Soul Token and Bone Token. Proceed." He urged them onward with an undeniable tone.

"Understood." Unlike Xiao Yan, who was still utterly bewildered, Yu Xi, already mentally prepared, accepted Bai Mo's agreement without hesitation.

Relying on its innate perception, it had already understood that the Soul Realm was a specially designed world, half-illusory and half-material, capable of accommodating souls.

Furthermore, with the authority granted by the Soul Token, Yu Xi could even modify some of its rules to better suit the survival of soul-beings.

Compared to Yu Xi, whose mind, having merged countless human memories, was already not much different from that of a long-lived being, Xiao Yan, whose mental age still hovered around thirty, was utterly overwhelmed by an agreement spanning a thousand years.
