Chapter 380: Two Questions

The massive array composed of over three hundred avatars split into two groups after half an hour of flight.

One group arrived at Tianqing, each melting into a single piece before finally assembling into a semi-circular shield that fully enveloped Tianqing City.

Just half a minute after the avatar team arrived, a group of "little tails" that had been closely following them also reached Tianqing.

However, worried that the missiles might accidentally hit the capital, the interception system's supervisor ultimately chose to let them fly to high altitude and self-detonate.

Bombing the capital, such an utterly politically incorrect act, wasn't something that could be dismissed as simply acting according to expediency in an emergency. Post-event accountability would definitely lead to severe repercussions, assuming, of course, there was even a "post-event" to speak of.

This was already the third batch of defensive missiles launched; the previous two batches had run out of fuel during pursuit and were forced to activate their self-destruct protocols. Now, their successors appeared destined for the same outcome.

The continuous explosions of missiles high in the sky immediately drew the attention of the busy residents below.

Looking up, beyond the sounds of the explosions, their biological instinct for self-preservation made them perceive a terrifying entity, quietly perched at the edge of Tianqing City, silently gazing at something.

“Let’s go back...”

“Mm...”

Drivers on the highway leaving the city, upon reaching a certain point in the outskirts, found their cars stopping without warning. With blank eyes, they would then communicate with their equally bewildered companions, as if everything was perfectly natural.

An invisible iron curtain sealed Tianqing City within, causing everyone who couldn't withstand the mental induction to unconsciously return to the city center, as if caught in a "ghost wall."

“I’m here.” Looking at the people before him whose expressions were far from good, Bai Mo’s voice emerged from the invisible barrier.

Of the sixty-two individuals before him, excluding the five external aids brought in with hefty rewards, the remaining fifty-seven were the core members who held control over every aspect of the Huaxia Federation’s power.

Through subordinates, friends, relatives, and other associated members, they had woven a colossal net that encompassed nearly everything.

All domestic media and financial institutions within Huaxia, over eighty percent of industries, and more than ninety percent of mining, agricultural, and forestry resources could ultimately be traced back to the network behind these fifty-seven individuals.

With a formidable enemy at hand, it was only under the forceful orders of the Seven-Person Council that they had rarely emerged from their respective cultivation blessed lands to gather and discuss countermeasures. Yet, they had never anticipated that Bai Mo, who had remained stationary in Australia, would suddenly launch an attack on Tianqing.

“What do you want?” After assessing the barrier’s strength, Chen Bo, the leader, asked.

“Originally, I intended to keep all of you here. After letting you attack for so many days while I simply sat by, it wouldn't do if I didn't kill a few people to vent some anger and at least feign a little annoyance. You fought so hard, and while it wasn't particularly meaningful, I still have to show some sort of response.” A radiant figure emerged from the invisible barrier and spoke in a teasing tone.

“But later I changed my mind. As long as you can answer these two questions, I can consider letting you leave.”

“What questions?”

Bai Mo's unconventional nature left these people somewhat speechless, but alas, circumstances were stronger than individual will. That madman possessed overwhelming power, so even if they had to hold their noses, they could only grudgingly go along with it.

“First question: If the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were leveled, how wide of a land bridge could the excess earth and rocks allow us to build, starting from Qi Lu Province and connecting it to Yamato?”

“Second question: How much seawater would need to be diverted to turn all the deserts in Central Asia into a watery expanse?”

He posed two questions that were both unexpected and utterly perplexing.

“You’re not planning to initiate these two insane projects, are you?” It didn't take long before someone guessed Bai Mo’s intention.

“Correct, but no prize.”

“Why are you doing this?” asked Liu Zhen and a few others who appeared to be the calmest.

As artificial gods who walked the Divine Path, Cheng Mu, Liu Zhen, and the others adhered to the safe practice of never allowing their true bodies to leave their Divine Kingdoms. Thus, what was currently trapped was merely an important projection, allowing them to maintain a calm and composed attitude in the face of adversity.

“Nothing, just pure curiosity to see. Twenty years ago, when I was only fourteen, these two ideas suddenly popped into my head one day. I originally thought it would be unlikely for me to witness the realization of these two fantastical notions in this lifetime.”

“And don’t assume that Divine Kingdoms are necessarily safe. What Hong Shi can do, I can do too.”

“Do you have any idea how much manpower and resources it would take to satisfy your insane ideas?! Humanity’s future should be the sea of stars! The entire solar system is our enemy, and you still have the mind to do such idiotic things?!” This furious roar came from Zhao Jiasen, Bai Mo’s former mentor.

As one of the few remaining giants within the Spirit Energy Research Institute, and Bai Mo’s former teacher, he was one of the very few who, in this oppressive atmosphere, still dared to voice his true opinion.

“Because I am strong enough, much stronger than all of you combined, then my ideas should be the prevailing trend, my will should dictate the grand strategy, and everything should proceed according to my plan! I have no need whatsoever to explain myself to any of you.”

Although in Bai Mo’s view, he was merely mumbling to himself, in the ears of the others, it was as if countless people were simultaneously shouting behind the radiant figure. The entire world was filled with his voice, as if a force was compelling them to surrender.

“An arrogant, selfish, willful madman.” After recovering from the oppressive aura, such thoughts arose in their minds. Never before had anyone displayed the doctrine of power supremacy so bluntly, without the slightest pretense.

“We’ve already answered your questions... please see, might we now...” In the face of absolute violence, not everyone could maintain their integrity. This was especially true for the few who had been hired; they originally had little conflict of interest with Bai Mo, having merely been lured by substantial rewards.

“Five years. I can let all of you leave.”

“You’re asking us to be laborers for five years?!” Every superhuman above Five Tiers, if their destructive power were viewed as their environmental impact, would, given enough time, be capable of profoundly altering a region’s natural environment. It was simply that no one had ever engaged in such seemingly meaningless strenuous labor.

“Diverting seawater into the interior, and then paving the road into Yamato — this will likely be the greatest contribution you leave for this country.” Bai Mo did not answer the other party’s question, instead resuming his monologue.

“Thirty-two hours left. When the countdown ends, and the Destiny System has been installed for everyone, I will preside over the Great Sky Judgment, dragging everyone who has committed crimes over these years to the frontier to join you...”
