Chapter 913: Li Fan Scolds the Heavenly Doctor

Chapter 913: Li Fan Rebukes the Doctor

Although he couldn’t fathom why the Heavenly Doctor would suddenly appear here, Li Fan had already rehearsed this encounter in his mind countless times ever since his last brush with the man’s diagnostic techniques nearly cost him the ability to use [Truth].

So, in a flash of insight, Li Fan made what he believed to be the most prudent choice.

His mind went perfectly blank, his thoughts frozen in an instant.

However, such an abnormal reaction immediately captured the Heavenly Doctor’s attention.

He first gestured lightly toward Han Zhong, and several streaks of silver light shot out in an instant.

Like a series of fine needles, they pinned Han Zhong in place, sealing him within the space.

The expression on Han Zhong's face froze, his very thoughts seemingly suspended in that moment.

Then, the Heavenly Doctor turned his murky gaze upon Li Fan, a playful smirk touching his lips. "So guarded..."

"My young friend, have we met before?"

Without a moment's thought, Li Fan’s subconscious reaction took over.

“Enough of your nonsense! A scourge like you deserves to be destroyed by all!”

Li Fan’s face was a mask of righteousness as he roared with fury.

He then unleashed a volley of sword beams from the Great Five Elements Extinction Sword!

Moreover, the essence of the Heavenly Killing Sword Intent within the black light was greatly amplified!

The Heavenly Doctor made no attempt to dodge the incoming attack.

As he watched the familiar sword intent approach, a ripple of emotion flickered in his eyes.

Without any discernible movement, the straight trajectory of the hundred-plus black sword beams began to curve on their own.

They all converged into the palm of his outstretched left hand.

With a casual squeeze, he crushed them into a black sphere, and Li Fan instantly lost all connection to his attack.

This display of almost supernatural skill sent a jolt of alarm through Li Fan.

This time, the shock was genuine.

But he quickly recovered, continuing his performance.

“Old fiend!”

Seeing his attack so effortlessly neutralized, Li Fan’s face contorted in a mask of grief and fury as he cursed.

He then pointed a finger toward the Heavenly Doctor’s brow, but his body simultaneously transformed into a streak of light, retreating at explosive speed.

To Li Fan's horror, however, Han Zhong’s once-cramped room now seemed to stretch into infinity. No matter how fast he fled, he couldn’t find an exit!

"The Heavenly Killing Sword, the Cloud Water Illusory Dream Art..."

"What else do you know?"

Despite Li Fan's constant insults and disrespect, the Heavenly Doctor showed no anger.

Instead, he looked at Li Fan with a complex expression and asked slowly.

“Hmph! Don’t think you can trick any information out of me, you dog! It’s my bad luck to fall into your hands today! Kill me or torture me, do as you please!” Li Fan declared, as if he knew he was no match for the Heavenly Doctor and had given up the struggle.

He spat contemptuously in the Heavenly Doctor’s direction, his posture one of defiant martyrdom.

“Hmph...” The Heavenly Doctor shook his head slightly.

He didn’t seem surprised by Li Fan’s display.

“So many years have passed, yet they haven’t changed a bit. Still hate me just as much...”

The Heavenly Doctor chuckled softly.

Li Fan erupted in rage. “A blood debt is not forgotten, even after a thousand lifetimes!”

“Young man, what if I told you that I was a good person? Would you believe me?” The Heavenly Doctor remained calm, smiling as he posed the question to Li Fan.

Li Fan studied the Heavenly Doctor once more.

White-haired and benevolent-looking, his kindly features indeed seemed at odds with the image of a villain.

But Li Fan still snorted coldly. “Old fiend, stop trying to bewitch me! You can’t judge a book by its cover!”

The Heavenly Doctor let out a dry laugh before asking again, “You’re willing to believe the words of a madman, so why can’t you believe me?”

Li Fan's expression shifted.

Before he could answer, the Heavenly Doctor continued, “If I were truly evil, would I have allowed Tian Jue to live all this time? He may be too mad to see reason, but surely you can think it through?”

Li Fan’s expression froze, and he seemed to fall into deep thought. Judging by his face, he was genuinely grappling with some confusion.

“Sometimes, things are not as simple as they appear. Even what you see with your own eyes can be deceiving,” the Heavenly Doctor sighed, his tone filled with an endless sense of world-weariness.

Li Fan remained silent, clearly not one to be swayed by a few simple words.

But the Heavenly Doctor didn’t seem to mind.

“It doesn’t matter. Soon, I will resolve everything.”

He spoke as if to himself.

Perhaps it was for Li Fan’s benefit, or perhaps it was a promise he was making to himself.

“You have a good heart, young man, but you are far too rash. In the future, you should be more cautious. Plan before you act,” the Heavenly Doctor commented, his tone like that of an elder advising a junior.

He then produced a jade slip from thin air and tossed it to Li Fan.

The slip was clearly no ordinary item; nine sacred, golden auras coiled around it. As it flew through the air, it even caused the fabric of space to tremble.

Li Fan instinctively caught the golden jade slip and looked at the Heavenly Doctor, his face a mixture of shock and suspicion.

“It never hurts for a young person to read more.”

“Now then, let me get back to business.”

The Heavenly Doctor paid him no further mind, turning his gaze back to the frozen Han Zhong.

The white-haired old man narrowed his eyes, his expression now one of intense concentration.

A silver needle appeared silently in his right hand. With a flick of his finger, it shot toward the crown of Han Zhong’s head.

Swish!

As the needle sank into his skull, Han Zhong, who had been completely immobilized, suddenly began to struggle violently.

The Heavenly Doctor’s expression remained unchanged as he sent several more needles flying, pinning Han Zhong down completely.

Li Fan suppressed the urge to read the golden jade slip, his mind an empty vessel.

He simply focused all his attention on observing the Heavenly Doctor’s movements.

After eighty-one needles had been inserted into his body, the expression on Han Zhong’s face locked into place.

It became a grotesque, twisted mask. His eye sockets, mouth, and nostrils began to melt as if corroded by some unseen force, turning into dark, empty voids.

A formless aura that made one’s skin crawl began to seep out of Han Zhong’s body through these holes.

Even with the Heavenly Doctor’s seal in place, Li Fan, standing nearby, felt an overwhelming sense of crisis wash over him.

His eyelids twitched uncontrollably, a premonition of imminent disaster!

He subtly retreated until he was standing behind the Heavenly Doctor, and only then did the sense of danger slightly abate.

The Heavenly Doctor ignored Li Fan’s small maneuver and took out a jade bottle.

He aimed the mouth of the bottle at Han Zhong’s head and tossed it lightly into the air.

The jade bottle seemed to possess the ability to absorb the formless aura. Slowly, the source of Li Fan’s sense of crisis began to fade.

In the process, Han Zhong’s body dissolved completely into nothingness.

When it was all over, the Heavenly Doctor retrieved the jade bottle with a solemn expression and sealed it shut.

“What is that?” Li Fan couldn’t help but ask, his eyes fixed on the bottle in the Heavenly Doctor’s hand.

“It’s a sickness,” the Heavenly Doctor sighed softly.

“This little fellow... I don’t know whether to call him lucky or unlucky. He found the Tian Beast's Eye and left the Xuanhuang Realm. That’s how he contracted this disease.”

Li Fan couldn't help but recall the withering, decaying sensation that had coursed through his soul when he had first come into contact with Han Zhong.

“A sickness?” Li Fan mused.

The Heavenly Doctor glanced at him one last time.
