Chapter 1158: The Secret Art of Devouring Tianxuan
Li Fan's avatar kept its gaze locked on the eerie mirror nearby.
"It's not just the appearance that's similar, but even the aura..."
Possessing a fragment of the Heavenly Profound Mirror's origin, Li Fan was intimately familiar with it.
Yet the feeling this bizarre little mirror gave him was that of a twin brother to the Heavenly Profound Mirror itself!
A jolt went through Li Fan, his mind racing.
"The Heavenly Profound Mirror was once called the Xuantian Mirror. The Xuantian King of the Xuantian Sect obtained it from an ascension passage—an artifact from the Immortal Realm."
"Then what is this one before me?"
For a moment, Li Fan felt the urge to approach and investigate it firsthand.
But after a moment of consideration, he restrained himself.
Li Fan decided to watch and wait.
Drip, drip, drip. Blood fell endlessly onto the mirror's surface. Sun Luyuan's face had already grown pale, yet he showed no sign of stopping.
Li Fan could even see the fear in his eyes and the slight tremor in the arm he seemed to be trying to pull back.
For some reason, however, he couldn't control his own actions.
It wasn't until the mirror's surface erupted with a strange fluctuation and the black light receded that Sun Luyuan collapsed to the floor, utterly drained.
He took out several pills and swallowed them. Only after a period of meditation did some color return to his face.
Sun Luyuan gazed at the small mirror before him, which now pulsed with a faint, dark light. A flicker of greed warred with terror in his eyes.
It was impossible to know what he was thinking.
After a long while, his rigid body finally began to move again.
From his robes, he produced another small mirror.
He adjusted its angle, placing it face-to-face with the black mirror.
This new mirror was, of course, a Tianxuan Minor Mirror.
Li Fan watched clearly as wisps of green light were drawn out from the Tianxuan Mirror's surface and flowed into the black one.
And after absorbing the essence of the Tianxuan Minor Mirror, the black mirror seemed to resemble the real thing even more closely.
Sun Luyuan appeared to be carefully timing the process.
A moment later, while the black mirror was still devouring, his expression shifted. He quickly formed a hand seal and put the Tianxuan Minor Mirror away.
But how could the black mirror, in the middle of its voracious feast, let it go?
A black mist suddenly surged from its surface, coalescing into a humanoid figure that bellowed at Sun Luyuan, "It's not enough!"
"I want to eat more!"
A tyrannical power erupted from the shadowy figure, sweeping through the secret chamber like a tempest.
Sun Luyuan gritted his teeth, determinedly stowing the Tianxuan Minor Mirror.
At the same time, he addressed the shadowy figure, "Little brother, control yourself! If you devour too much at once, the Tianxuan Mirror will notice, and all our efforts will be for nothing!"
Upon hearing Sun Luyuan's words, the shadowy figure seemed to regain a sliver of reason.
Its form flickered violently, as if struggling with itself.
After a long struggle, it finally managed to suppress its inner desire.
"Brother, I'm in so much pain..."
"Brother, I can't hold on anymore."
"Brother, let me out!"
Weeping, begging, seething hatred...
A torrent of emotions washed over the shadowy figure.
But no matter its tone, every sentence began with the word "Brother."
And with each cry, Sun Luyuan seemed to be wracked with anguish.
In the end, he could only close his eyes and once again use his own blood essence to pacify the shadowy figure's resentment.
Having received the blood essence, the black mirror grew calm again.
Sun Luyuan, as if a great weight had been lifted, slumped to the ground, showing none of the dignity of a Dao Integration expert.
It took him nearly half a day to recover.
Standing before the black mirror once more, he began to chant under his breath.
At his command, a brilliant light bloomed from the black mirror.
Countless characters and images flashed rapidly within it.
Sun Luyuan watched with feverish intensity, devouring the information hungrily, afraid to miss a single detail.
Finally, the images grew dimmer and dimmer until they vanished completely.
Only then did Sun Luyuan reluctantly withdraw his gaze.
"This harvest is enough to see our Sun family through the current crisis."
"Once Lu'er emerges from the Law Enforcement Hall and takes up an important post in the Immortal Alliance, our family will finally have four Dao Integration experts. Only then can the Sun family be considered truly established."
Sun Luyuan muttered to himself.
Meanwhile, Li Fan's avatar, which had witnessed the entire process, had pieced together what was happening.
"So it's not an immortal artifact of the same caliber? Instead, it uses a human soul as a foundation and some secret art to erode the Heavenly Profound Mirror, thereby extracting vast amounts of information that would be otherwise inaccessible?"
"Even if it's not a true immortal artifact, the ability to infiltrate the Heavenly Profound Mirror is still an extraordinary feat."
Li Fan looked at Sun Luyuan, who appeared severely weakened.
While recovering, he seemed to be meditating to digest the information he had just obtained from the black mirror.
"With just one avatar, trying to subdue him..."
"I'm not completely confident. Especially with that bizarre black mirror by his side."
After careful consideration, Li Fan's avatar chose not to act immediately.
He decided to remain hidden for now.
He would wait until Sun Luyuan was separated from the black mirror before making his move.
Another seven days passed.
When Sun Luyuan opened his eyes, the first thing he did was form a series of rapid hand seals, temporarily sealing the black mirror in the chamber.
Sensing Sun Luyuan's actions, the misty figure within the black mirror began to struggle, trying to emerge.
But it was sealed tightly within the mirror's surface, unable to escape.
Once the disturbance subsided, Sun Luyuan let out a sigh of relief.
He disengaged the multiple restrictions and left the secret chamber.
A moment later.
Li Fan's avatar quietly drifted to the black mirror's side.
"The material of this mirror..."
"It doesn't seem to be a product of the Xuanhuang Realm."
"It seems my guess that it's an immortal artifact wasn't entirely wrong."
"However, its original immortal power is long gone, leaving only an empty shell now occupied by that shadowy figure."
With his current knowledge, a careful examination quickly yielded results.
To verify his theory, the avatar began to study the seal Sun Luyuan had left behind.
"Hmm? It has traces of an immortal-grade formation, but it's far too crude."
His main body provided support using the Final Dissociation Disc, and before long, he had deciphered it.
Instead of destroying the seal, Li Fan's avatar slowly began to modify it.
"Brother, why are you back so soon?"
"Did you run into trouble again? Hehehe..."
The shadow's crazed voice echoed from within the mirror.
Li Fan didn't answer, continuing to alter the formation seal.
The shadow rambled to itself for a while before finally realizing something was wrong.
"You're not my brother?"
"Who are you?"
Its voice was filled with rage and terror.
"Disgusting thing, stay away from me!"
The shadow shrieked, and the black mirror began to vibrate violently.
"Silence!" Li Fan snorted coldly.
A bolt of silver lightning materialized from the void and struck the black mirror hard.
The mirror's body, forged from some unknown material, was left slightly scorched.
The shadow's shriek was cut short with a cry of pain.
After a moment of silence, the shadow seemed to recover.
"You..."
It was about to lash out again, but another bolt of lightning was all that answered it.
