Chapter 1024: The Awe of the Spirit Wood Realm
“The more extraordinary the Xuantian King was, the more chilling his mysterious disappearance seemed.”
“In this lifetime, Mo Rubin's plan to find the Xuantian King should succeed...”
“I hope he's merely gravely wounded and in hiding, not... not fallen and reincarnated as I suspect.” Li Fan's thoughts churned.
Having acquired the two immortal-grade arrays—the Mysterious Jade, Myriad Spirits Return to Number Array and the Desolate Fall, Void Room Generates Flowers Array—Li Fan began to vaguely grasp their combined purpose through the Final Dissociation Disc's analysis.
“Creating worlds...”
“Whether recreating a world from memory or forging an entirely new one, this set of immortal-grade grand arrays could undoubtedly accomplish it.”
Unfortunately, such a feat was far beyond his current abilities. For now, he could only catch glimpses of its potential through the Dissociation Disc's deductions.
As the analysis of the arrays proceeded, Li Fan no longer needed to dedicate his full attention. A mere sliver of his consciousness was enough to oversee the Dissociation Disc's operations.
With that matter underway, Li Fan summoned Liu Ruchen and the others from the Medicine King Sect.
“Taking all this into account, I've decided to have them switch to the New Method and restore their combat strength as quickly as possible.”
As he spoke, Li Fan led Liu Ruchen and his group into a building within the Spirit Wood Realm.
Stepping inside, they were met with the sight of towering bookshelves that seemed to stretch on endlessly.
The shelves were lined with countless jade slips.
With a casual wave of his hand, Li Fan summoned thirty slips and presented them to Liu Ruchen.
“Are these all... Soul Transformation techniques?” Liu Ruchen exclaimed, his voice filled with astonishment after a quick scan.
In the current era, where the Law of Incompatible Cultivation held sway, this was an unimaginable treasure. Even during the golden age of ancient cultivation, producing thirty Soul Transformation techniques at once would have been an ostentatious display of wealth.
The members of the Medicine King Sect thanked the envoy profusely, their gazes then drifting in unison toward the endless sea of books behind Li Fan.
Only Li Fan knew the truth: this seemingly boundless repository of knowledge held only a hundred techniques he had recently acquired from Mo Rubin, along with fifty-odd ownerless techniques he had collected over his past cycles.
Everything else was merely an illusion, a grand spectacle crafted by Li Fan's arrays.
Still, the deception was masterful.
He could see its effect in the subtle fluctuations of aura rippling from the Dao Integration cultivators of the Medicine King Sect before him.
A faint smile touched Li Fan's lips. With a flourish, he made a show of casting a spell, summoning a row of bookshelves from the depths of the library that radiated a soft golden light.
Each jade slip on these shelves was encased in an orb of milky, jade-like light, marking them instantly as treasures of no ordinary kind.
Li Fan took one with a deliberate, solemn air before dismissing the grand illusion of the library.
Only then did he present the jade slip to Liu Ruchen.
Seeing the gravity with which Li Fan acted, Liu Ruchen couldn't help but feel a surge of nervous anticipation.
“This is...”
He took the slip, and as he examined its contents, his expression shifted. “So many... pill formulas?”
“And the vast majority... I've never seen them before!”
His words sent a ripple of excitement through the other Dao Integration elders of the Medicine King Sect.
Their eyes were all fixed upon the jade slip in Liu Ruchen's hand, as if it were a supreme treasure descended from the heavens.
And in truth, the contents of the jade slip were a treasure beyond their wildest imaginings. It contained the complete formulas for all the mainstream pills currently in use by the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance's Alchemy Hall. It even included detailed refinement techniques and an analysis of every possible contingency during the alchemy process.
This, too, had been acquired from Mo Rubin.
While it lacked a few of the most classified formulas, obtaining it had been a simple matter for Li Fan. Yet for the current Medicine King Sect, it represented a fortune of immense proportions.
It was enough to allow them, in a short time, to match the alchemy standards of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance.
“Thank you for this gift, Envoy,” Liu Ruchen and the others declared, their voices resonating with genuine gratitude this time.
But the surprises Li Fan had in store for them were far from over.
“Do not resist,” Li Fan instructed.
Hearing his voice and sensing a strange power envelop them, they didn't hesitate, allowing it to take hold.
In the blink of an eye, they found themselves in a strange, new world.
This world was even more expansive than the Spirit Wood Realm.
More astonishing still, the world was blanketed in a profusion of spiritual plants and herbs, all growing with wild abandon. The spiritual energy was so dense it seemed on the verge of crystallizing.
And high in the sky, a continent floated among the clouds.
As their eyes swept over it, they all cried out in shock. “How... how can there be traces of our Medicine King Sect's restrictive formations on that land?”
“Wait a moment... this place looks familiar. Isn't that Longevity Valley?”
In an instant, they recognized the floating landmass.
They all turned to look at Li Fan.
Li Fan feigned a look of surprise. “What? You mean this secret realm belongs to the Medicine King Sect?”
He then explained, “While our Federation of All Worlds was gathering reserve forces, we happened upon... this Longevity Valley. We assumed it was ownerless, so we moved it into this grotto-heaven for safekeeping.”
Li Fan said, his expression perfectly straight.
The members of the Medicine King Sect exchanged complex looks.
Liu Ruchen sighed. “It seems our destinies were intertwined from the very beginning.”
Li Fan simply smiled, offering no further explanation. “As you can see, the Federation of All Worlds is an alliance of the surviving cultivator forces from countless realms. Naturally, we have come into possession of treasures from other worlds.”
“You need not worry about resources. Even if you were all to refine pills with all your might, I doubt your rate of consumption could keep pace with the rate of regeneration here.”
“Daoist Baihua!” Li Fan called out.
Daoist Baihua arrived then, appearing before the group as if fashionably late.
“This is...”
“A Longevity cultivator?” The faces of Liu Ruchen and the others changed instantly.
“Allow me to introduce you,” Li Fan said with a smile. “This is Daoist Baihua, from the distant Wansheng Realm. It is thanks to her care that the spiritual plants here are so vibrant. If any of you are also skilled in this art, feel free to exchange insights with her.”
The cultivators from the Medicine King Sect all bowed respectfully to Daoist Baihua.
Although Baihua was somewhat weak in Li Fan's eyes, she was a genuine Longevity cultivator. Out of an instinctual reverence for those who had reached such a stage, the Medicine King Sect members treated her with the utmost respect.
It had been a long time since Daoist Baihua had been the object of such admiration, and she couldn't help but feel a little giddy.
She took the initiative, explaining the distribution and quantities of the spiritual plants within the wood-attribute grotto-heaven to Liu Ruchen's group, earning gasps of admiration.
And then, with the stage perfectly set, Li Fan finally revealed his true purpose.
“I require a pill that can directly increase one's cultivation base upon consumption. Disregard any side effects; I want only the greatest possible efficiency in boosting cultivation. The more, the better.”
Li Fan's words made everyone turn to look at him, their expressions filled with surprise.
They quickly realized, however, that such a pill was obviously not for Li Fan's personal use.
This was the first task Li Fan had given them, and the members of the Medicine King Sect agreed without a moment's hesitation.
