I got into school for nothing - Chapter 310

I got into school for nothing (310)

Lesson 60. Head of the Family - 5

A Constellation is a transcendent being.

They cross the dimensional barrier, interfering by contacting, sponsoring, or contracting with mortals, and in special circumstances, manifest avatars by expending their own power.

These avatars permanently diminish a Constellation's abilities, so most Constellations do not create them; what surpasses even this is the direct descent of a Constellation's true form.

To put it simply, it was an impossible feat, and it had never occurred until now.

But what if a Constellation, whose mere contracts exert absolute influence over all dimensions, were to descend in their true form...?

—I have come myself.

Seeing it, Ban Yuwon felt as if the sun itself had spoken.

The crimson moon he and Dokgo Yeon had just shattered was nothing in comparison.

It was truly the difference between the moon and the sun.

Even with the being still impossibly far away, the transmitted heat made his cheeks flush fiercely.

What's more, it was steadily expanding.

Closer, ever closer.

It was attempting to descend upon the earth.

—Become mine, child.

Each time it opened its mouth, the atmosphere vibrated, and parts of it ignited.

For Ban Yumi and the Rebel Force, who had just managed to halt and calm the conflict between the Prominence Family and the fairies, it was nothing short of a bolt from the blue.

Ban Yuwon pulled Ulrike, who had finished her recovery, and rushed out, confronting her.

“Is this kind of thing common?! Is it common for a damn Constellation to show up in its true form just because it's displeased?!”

“It's impossible! Constellations gained the authority to traverse dimensions and wield Authority, but they cannot directly descend into a dimension... That's what the Constellations themselves said!”

Ulrike was equally distraught and screaming.

Ironically, the stronger the individual, the more proficient they were with scorching flames, the deeper they fell into panic upon seeing the Constellation.

The reason was simple.

While the weak merely stood bewildered, unable to even gauge the Constellation's might, the strong were acutely feeling the immense gap between themselves and the Constellation.

‘Of course, that being must have had at least thousands of years to accumulate power, so it's only natural. It's natural, but still!’

Why was something happening for the first time in history, and why at this exact moment?

How on earth could such a thing occur?

As always, such thoughts were pointless.

Now, it was only a matter of figuring out how to kill the damn thing.

—You, to me, yield!

“It's insane...”

Thanks to absorbing three thousand crimson flames, Ban Yumi, who had instantly risen to become the top flame wielder of the Prominence Family, also turned pale as she watched the Constellation's true form descend further.

Ban Yuwon approached Ban Yumi and shouted.

“Snap out of it! You're the family head now, Sister, you have to lead the people and fight back!”

“B-Ban Yuwon. Just you, at least, run before you die.”

“No, don't spout that movie-like nonsense.”

Ban Yuwon scoffed at his sister, who was striking a pose with clenched fists, then drew Requiem.

He had originally vowed not to use a sword until his abilities could fully support it... but after successively absorbing the concepts of 'vice-family head' and 'family head', and having now grown to a level that surpassed six Irektos, he wondered if it was acceptable to use it now.

More importantly, the current enemy was a suitable target for 'god-slaying'.

Adding to that was a power even the Chancellor of Union Academy couldn't control, the Starlight of the Constellation, Starlight Player — the power of a special disciple raised to control Constellations.

“You've arrived.”

As always when facing a formidable foe, without him even speaking first, Dokgo Yeon approached, knowing his thoughts.

As he thought how beautiful her profile was, standing beside him and drawing her short sword, Ban Yumi's grip on his hand, which she was still holding, tightened fiercely.

It seemed she had found her spirit.

“Don't you dare make eye contact with other women in front of your sister, you.”

“I did that all the time when I went to Earth with Rucell.”

“Yes, Master. You called, didn't you?”

Rucell, who joined without delay, was already crackling with blue lightning and flames across her entire body, in combat mode with her Divine Beast ears and tail revealed.

Her gaze, which had been scanning Dokgo Yeon and Ban Yumi flanking Ban Yuwon with an intrigued expression, seemed to turn venomous as she saw Ulrike Prominence awkwardly standing behind them, but the moment she met Ban Yuwon's eyes, it softened into a goofy smile so fast it felt like an illusion.

Knowing that Ban Yuwon could read emotions, she wasn't trying to deceive him.

It was simply that she always wanted to show him only her prettiest side.

“We're finally fighting together.”

“Indeed, let's give it a try.”

“Me, why aren't you looking for me?!”

“Because you're always just there, Queen, so I don't need to look.”

“Don't call me Queen!”

Asha, Aire, the two Dragonoids, followed by Mira and Shatie — the entire group, including honorary Rebellion members, were finally gathered in one place.

Even as they bolstered their fighting spirit, the sun continued its descent—and the grass on the ground began to wither and burn.

—Having finally attained freedom, I shall burn away all that bound me. Yes, I desire you! You!

There was no time to humor the Constellation's nonsense.

Just as Ban Yuwon raised Requiem, preparing to launch his full-scale attack, Fairy Queen Yura flapped her wings and stepped forward.

“Children, summer is too hot. Don't you think?”

“That's right, Your Majesty!”

“I wish winter would come!”

“The sun is too ugly!”

“It's starting again amidst all this.”

Even as Mira's face twisted into a mess of irritation, the fairies eagerly responded to their queen.

It wasn't because her dominance was extraordinary, but simply because it was more fun that way.

The astonishing thing was that the fairies, who always prioritized their own lives above all else, chose to prioritize their queen's command instead.

Indeed, it made sense, as they were experiencing something nobody had witnessed in thousands of years firsthand.

“Then from now on, it's winter here! I've decided so right now!”

At that moment, winter truly arrived.

The heat generated by that damned Constellation vanished instantly, and a cool breeze swept through.

Even though all the fairies' mana had been drastically depleted just moments ago from performing a large-scale Changeling, the might of the fairies, who synchronized with their queen's words and unleashed their mana without reserve, made one realize why Fairytale was truly considered among the foremost A-rank dimensions.

However, there would be no third time; as the price for summoning winter to cool that scorching sun, every single fairy had to collapse right there.

“Heh, heheh... the sun... we repelled it...”

“Summer... we cleaved it...”

“Son-in-law?”

As if pleased with the Changeling they had performed, beyond the fairies who collapsed one by one, muttering nonsense, Yura, the Fairy Queen, stood upright, truly distinct from the others, and spoke to Ban Yuwon.

“We don't have the strength to return to Fairytale now. Instead, my son-in-law must take responsibility and carry us.”

“Indeed. That's a Changeling too, isn't it?”

“Oh my, truly, to give you to my daughter... what a waste...”

With those last words, Yura also collapsed on top of the fairies.

Ban Yuwon realized the fairies' mannerisms had rubbed off on him and let out a wry chuckle.

Considering their great feat of reviving the dying land by covering it with cold against the Constellation's power, and drastically weakening the Constellation's imposing momentum, he thought this much could be considered respect.

—This much cannot stop me.

Even though it had descended from an absolute realm, where one dared not lay a hand, and was now within reach, weakened by winter.

The Constellation remained terrifyingly powerful, making his teeth clench.

Thinking back, the Follower of Ten Thousand Kalpas had sponsored the Prominence Family and expended its Authority multiple times, Ban Yuwon himself had destroyed several of its artifacts, and even the orb the family head wielded earlier was said to be made by grinding down a part of its true form.

This meant that even when it appeared as a giant sun, it wasn't in its full, perfect state...

“How on earth? How can such a being exist?”

If the True Dragons, spoken of only in legends, were to appear in person, would they be similar to that?

Ban Yuwon focused his Won-gi into his all-seeing eyes, trying to pierce through the being, no matter what, but the overwhelming difference in their stature made it, of course, impossible.

However, one thing he did perceive was that that sun was not its true form.

It was a dual entity: something else enveloped what appeared to be its inherent conceptual mass...

‘In other words—the Constellation itself didn't reach a transcendent state on its own, but received aid from something else, just as humans receive sponsorship from Constellations.’

Knowing just this much was enough.

If he had thought it accumulated such power on its own, he would have felt it utterly impossible to win, but if it was in a similar position to them, confidence swelled that he could find a loophole.

And exploiting weaknesses was Ban Yuwon's specialty, for he possessed the best eyes in the world.

‘Cellon, help me.’

—...

He called upon Cellon, whom he had neglected until now, intending to use her as a trump card.

However, for some reason, after hesitating for a long time, she finally responded in an anxious voice after being called several times.

—I have a bad feeling about this. Constellations are beings who can never reveal themselves in such a manner... Something has happened to Union. That's clear.

‘What are you talking about, you...? No, other problems can wait for now. Right now, defeating that thing is the top priority, isn't it?’

—...You're right. Please, finish that as quickly as possible, and let's return to Union.

He had always suspected there was some connection between Union and the Constellations.

But for Cellon to be so anxious, Ban Yuwon frowned deeply at the unpleasant feeling boiling up from within his chest, and gripped Requiem.

“Yuwon, wait a moment.”

Before that.

Asha stepped forward.

She held Aire's hand tightly.

“First, let me handle it.”

“Us.”

“Yes, us.”

“You don't mean...”

“Hoo.”

Seeing the armor Asha wore glow brightly, Ban Yuwon's eyes widened.

A light, swallowing both Asha and, for some reason, Aire, swelled in size in an instant, and soon transformed into a massive golden mechanical dragon.

[Combine the power of two Dragonoids, and you can manifest it!]

[Queen, stop being noisy and just draw out the power.]

[Ah, ahhhh! I'm jealous, I want to combine with that dragon too! Ask them if we can combine later, Master. Please?]

Despite the urgent situation, Aire's somewhat unspirited retort, followed by Lilyth's reaction, envying the two of them, gave him a headache.

However, the power those two generated was real.

In the wide-open maw of the golden mechanical dragon, a True Dragon's aura, more potent than what he had felt when fighting the previous one... an aura that no one could interpret or dare to imitate, was gathering.

—What...?

Even the Constellation, flustered, tried to unleash violent flames to attack the mechanical dragon, but the lingering chill in the atmosphere rushed in and nullified it.

The mechanical dragon's maw gaped as if it would tear open.

A golden breath, shot forth, struck the sun.

—Kuaaaaaaaaaaah!

The flames generated by the Constellation exploded from all directions, trying to block the breath, but the dragon's breath, imbued with Authority, relentlessly pushed the sun back, even tearing a massive hole right through its center.

The overwhelmingly different majesty, compared to when Ban Yuwon fought it, was it because the mechanical dragon had finally found its true master? Or was it because Aire, a magnificent assistant, was with it?

Recalling Aire's performance when she rode Abel with him, Ban Yuwon acknowledged that she was indeed the strongest combining robot enhancement part.

“It was incredible power... but it's not over yet!”

“Now's our chance, pour it on!”

Following the fairies' large-scale Changeling, and even the True Dragon's breath, each a miracle destined for history, the sun still showed no signs of weakening.

But it had become much more manageable, and the Rebellion members, as if they had been waiting for this moment, unleashed their full-force attacks.

Shatie's Annihilation Magic, daring to include even the Constellation's mana within its explosive range, and Mira's arrows, fired with all her focus to somehow weaken the being.

Rucell, pouring down a barrage by gathering only pure lightning power, excluding flames...

“Yeon?”

“You break the egg. I'll handle whatever bursts out from inside.”

Dokgo Yeon, as if seeing something Ban Yuwon couldn't yet, closed her eyes tightly, gripping her short sword, and concentrated her mind.

Her incomparable presence, her noble spirit.

Ah, she was beautiful indeed.

“Hey, look at me. Me.”

Ban Yumi, making a sulky face as she watched Ban Yuwon utterly absorbed by Dokgo Yeon, thrust her sword forward.

“When I attack, you deliver the finishing blow, got it?”

“Do it.”

“Hup.”

Ban Yumi was the wielder of the Authority that had drawn the Constellation itself to them.

Growing stronger during fierce battles, and though she had received much help from Ban Yuwon, she had truly bloomed her Authority by acquiring an overflowing abundance of crimson flames—the moment she unleashed a sword strike imbued with that power into the air.

The flames engulfing the sun vanished entirely in an instant, and a crack appeared in its massive body.

“Ban Yuwon!”

“I know.”

What he summoned into the air was, as always, twenty-five Stormrain Swords.

But Ban Yuwon activated a concept he didn't usually use, 'Union', and combined them all to form a gigantic greatsword.

He extracted the concept of 'Giant' remaining in the Code Core, separated only the concept of 'Giant' (巨) from it, and bestowed it upon the unified Stormrain Sword.

He resonated the colossal sword (巨劍), which floated in the air casting a shadow over the earth, with Requiem held in his hand.

All that remained was, exactly as he had learned from Dokgo Yeon—.

“Slash!”

He swung Requiem, and the colossal sword, resonating with it, fully received the god-slaying aura, then unleashed a slash that split the sun in half!

—How bothersome!

And the next moment, something that burst out from inside the sun shattered the colossal sword.
