Chapter 237-3: Containing Godshift, Creating the Inherited Soul (3)

This great war lasted a full three days.

It ended with the complete annihilation of the Ghost Scorpion bugs.

In the end, it was a Monster-build player in Extreme Speed form who rammed through the undersea ruins and became the first to touch the Godshift crystal.

At once, a black-hole vortex formed on the seabed and kept expanding, devouring vast quantities of seawater and land.

Only after nearly one fifth of the land in the semi-independent space was swallowed did the devouring black hole vanish into thin air.

At the same time, Emperor’s Mound Village, Colorful Mist Coast, the cavern world, Boundless Forest Domain, and Rimewinter Snowfield, the five spatial scenes, all shook at once and rapidly expanded in area.

In the direction of Emperor’s Mound Village.

A stone pillar more than ten meters tall in the central plaza trembled violently. Golden streams of light gathered in the fourth groove at the top and finally condensed into a golden Rule Brand.

Following Flesh Reconstruction, Crowd Gathering, and Enlightenment, a brand-new rule rune appeared on the Rule Divine Pillar.

Full-channel prompts rang out in the minds of players one after another:

[Challenger Notification (All Channels): Congratulations to the player legions for successfully containing the rule domain: Godshift. Rewards issued according to shared rankings are as follows]

First place: God King (command, combat, support, defense… composite score).

Reward: eighty thousand sacrificial power.

Second place: …

[Challenger Notification (All Channels): Rule Divine Pillar has added a faction amplification effect: Godshift]

Godshift rule introduction:

Function 1: Players can adjust the growth ratio of Inherited soul attributes at the Rule Divine Pillar in Emperor’s Mound Village (adjustments can only be made in Emperor’s Mound Village).

Example: The growth attributes of the Owl-Headed Fiend Inherited soul can be set to 100% physical aptitude attribute growth and 0% mental power attribute growth.

(Note: The Owl-Headed Fiend trait effect is still influenced by the strength of mental power and cannot be modified.)

Cost: 100 sacrificial power.

Function 2: Players can freely convert vitality strength and mental power (adjustments can only be made in Emperor’s Mound Village).

Cost: 100 sacrificial power.

With the clear effects of Godshift obtained, players launched heated discussions on the forum.

Before long, a post of analysis by Darkness Approaches surged to the top of the heat ranking.

[A detailed analysis of the Godshift rules, everyone come take a look.]

Poster: Darkness Approaches.

This post references part of Guide’s explanations. Next, I will give everyone a detailed interpretation to help you better understand the functions of the Godshift rules.

First, I can tell everyone clearly that the idea of spellcaster players using the blue bar as a health bar in battle is shattered.

Because attribute modification must be done in Emperor’s Mound Village by spending sacrificial power.

Spellcaster players can only convert the blue bar into a health bar in Emperor’s Mound Village before heading out, which would give them an even thicker health bar than tank builds.

But doing so would also make them lose the role of a spellcaster. Without mental power, there would be no damage output.

Next, let us talk about the amplification brought by the Godshift rules.

The forum’s previous speculation that Godshift might modify the ratio of an Inherited soul’s main attributes has been confirmed (applause.jpg).

This means many Inherited souls can be universal. Whether for melee or spellcasters, they can be used, though only a portion of them.

For example, Wither and Inkflame, these are, besides the Inherited soul’s own trait effect, also influenced by mental power strength. Melee players socketing them would still not be able to exert power, which is meaningless.

Similarly, traits like Force Savage Axe and Black-Scaled Serpent that are affected by vitality strength still cannot be used by spellcasters.

Only the attribute point ratio upon leveling changes. Whether an Inherited soul’s trait effect is influenced by mental power strength or vitality strength will not change at all.

But what can be confirmed is that the era of freely mixing and matching Inherited souls has officially arrived.

Scatter Arrows, Flowing Shadow clone, Extreme Speed, Bloodburn… these Inherited souls will become universal types. Even if they only have level bonus effects, a large number of players will be willing to socket them.

Secondly, future build roles will become even clearer.

I will take Qi Eater as an example.

The always T0-tier Qi Eater is pursued by countless players, especially after the Cultivation of Combat Techniques feature debuted, continuing to dominate the Inherited soul heat ranking in first place.

But even such an excellent Qi Eater Inherited soul has shortcomings.

Qi Eater’s main attribute growth ratio is very balanced, mental strength 52 percent and physical aptitude 48 percent.

But the problem is that melee does not need this 52 percent boost to mental strength at all.

Melee-build players fight using vitality as energy.

Of the attributes gained when Qi Eater levels up, 52 percent are added to mental strength, which is meaningless, like a dead pool of water that brings no amplification effect.

With Godshift, this problem can be solved. Melee players can set all Inherited souls to 100 percent physical aptitude increase, and combat power is about to skyrocket.

Spellcaster players can also set the main growth attribute of Qi Eater and similar Inherited souls to 100 percent mental strength increase, making their damage surge.

But I must say here that I do not recommend that spellcaster players do this.

It does not matter for melee builds, but spellcasters are fragile to begin with. On a large battlefield, without a boost to physical aptitude, a single wave of energy shock can shake you to death. My suggestion is to keep the physical aptitude ratio at about 10 to 15 percent.

Being fragile is fine, but at the very least you must be able to withstand the aftershocks of war.

If the frontline Gargoyle-build players take the main damage and do not die, yet a swath of backline spellcasters is killed by the aftershock, then they will have to take the blame for the defeat.

So spellcasters cannot do an extreme single max-out attribute allocation like melee builds.

But the appearance of Godshift can also significantly improve the damage output efficiency of spellcasters.

The Scatter Arrows and Extreme Speed Inherited souls have finally been implemented among spellcaster players. I have already socketed them myself.

Here I will mention a potential hidden danger that may appear for melee in the future.

If melee players go for the 100 percent physical aptitude point-allocation model, it is recommended to pair an Unyielding Inherited soul.

Besides affecting casting efficiency and mental power recovery, mental strength also affects a player’s resistance to spiritual damage.

Without mental strength, it means there will be no resistance to damage on the spiritual level, and you will take true damage directly.

At this stage, it is rare to encounter monsters that use mental attacks, but once the battlefield expands in the future, you will certainly encounter them frequently.

Just like the Touch of Pain used by the Pain Brothers, and Mental Shock in the Inherited soul store. These are all spiritual-type damage, bypassing the body to directly harm consciousness.

So you need to pair an Unyielding Inherited soul to quickly remove negative states such as mental impact and mental interference.

The popularity of the Unyielding Inherited soul is about to explode.

Finally, I will provide everyone with a new idea for Inherited soul combinations.

The attribute growth after each Inherited soul levels up is actually completely different.

Take the initial Three Phantom Gods as an example.

When first entering the game, everyone must have once wondered why the attribute bonuses given by the Three Phantom Gods at initial level 1 are actually different.

Among the Three Phantom Gods, the one with the lowest base attributes is the Owl-Headed Fiend, followed by the Black-Scaled Serpent, and the highest base values belong to the Gargoyle.

Now that the Godshift Inherited soul has appeared, when everyone matches star veins, you can also factor in the attribute growth values.

Those Inherited souls with thick base attributes can gain several more attribute points per level than other Inherited souls.

But the core is still to focus on matching Inherited soul traits. Do not get the core gameplay wrong for the sake of a few attribute points.

Attributes are important, but our players’ greatest strength lies in Inherited soul traits.

So traits first and attributes second. Using this approach to match star veins will never go wrong.

The above is my interpretation of the Godshift rules, and also why I said that the roles of each build playstyle will become clearer.

If you find errors in my interpretation, feel free to reply and point them out. I will edit and revise.

Class dismissed.

Darkness Approaches’ post gave a very detailed explanation of how to use the Godshift rules.

A large number of players swarmed to the Rule Divine Pillar in Emperor’s Mound Village, preparing to modify their Inherited soul growth attribute ratios.

Those most excited were the melee-build players.

The appearance of the Godshift rules meant they could discard the mental strength attribute and convert more attributes into boosts to physical aptitude.

Spellcasters had different points of excitement, since the room to modify attribute ratios was not large.

The key was that many powerful melee Inherited souls could finally be socketed and used.

The successful containment of the Godshift rules this time brought a significant improvement to the overall strength of the player legions.
