Chapter 209-4: Climbing the Peak, Switching Between Offense and Defense (4)

The Black Tide had shown it how terrifying a freely switchable unit system was in war, able to meet the challenges of any system of power, with no exploitable shortcoming.

This also gave it the idea of establishing a multi-system power.

It too wanted, like the terrifying Black Tide, to make its own power system have no shortcomings anywhere.

Thus, it created the World of Inspiration.

In essence, this world was a unit repository in its eyes. Every epic masterpiece could generate a template for a combat power system.

These combat power system templates would ultimately all be applied to the domain worlds constructed by Holder, Pen, and Book.

Using power of ink as the foundation, it flipped the pages to switch combat power systems.

For example, the first page wrote the cultivation system, the second page wrote the magic system, the third page wrote the xuanhuan system.

In future external wars, the process of page-turning would be like the terrifying Black Tide generating new unit types after reclamation, switching the combat power system anytime and anywhere.

To possess 100 epic masterpieces was equivalent to possessing 100 combat power systems that could be generated and switched at any time.

This was the meaning of the existence of the World of Inspiration.

It seemed like spending power of ink to support a group of authors, but in truth it was spending power of ink to build a research and development center for combat power systems.

Every author inside was a technical researcher, creating powerful war system templates for it.

From the moment it stepped into Monster World, it understood a truth. The brutal slaughter among races for resources was merely the prelude before a world level battlefield opened.

Weak races served as the buffer zone before clashes among strong races.

When the weak races withdrew from the stage, the brutality of war would only escalate.

In the Monster World of the future, the law of the strong preying on the weak would become ever more naked.

Only by adapting to a cruel environment that changed in an instant could one occupy a seat on the peak battlefield of the future.

Besides a few superpowers, all other races in Monster World could be called weak races, including it.

It was both a predator and the food of a stronger one.

But even a weak race, in this Monster World with infinite possibilities, had the qualification to stand out with potential.

The world pattern was undecided. Anyone could be the one.

By its view, relying only on resource accumulation was far from enough.

It had to learn the concept of constructing war legions from strong races, make up for every shortcoming of its own, and reach a state of unassailable perfection.

It had once witnessed the scene of the terrifying Black Tide sweeping through that made even the world tremble, its sky-covering might and unbeatable power leaving it shocked.

But after the shock, a strong desire also rose in its heart.

‘If the Black Tide can become a strong race standing at the peak, why can I, Written Word, not do the same.’

In the independent space, a figure suddenly opened its golden-glowing eyes, a rising desire revealed within.

“The future belongs to you for now, but it also belongs to me. Terrifying Black Tide, I will replace you and become the strongest.”

Ambition surged and burned like a raging fire, and the belief in its heart was firm as bedrock.

It always remembered why it descended into Monster World. It was not to struggle to survive in the cracks, but to climb to the summit.

A golden tentacle stretched forward, and the rule book turned to the first page.

All past information was wiped away, and a new chapter of the story began.

“Come.”

In this instant, the World of Inspiration jolted violently.

The Literary Dao Tower standing at the center of the world suddenly shook fiercely. The golden runes around the tower body flashed with dazzling light, as if responding to some invisible summons.

As the shaking intensified, the light brewing at the tower tip suddenly erupted, turning into countless streams of golden light that flew toward the sky, passed through spatial barriers, and descended into the Written Word space.

Countless words, with the strokes of the rule ‘Pen,’ were inscribed upon the first page.

Outside, Written Word domain.

The initialized the Written Word domain entered a state of chaos, and at this moment countless dazzling golden lights pierced the dark fog and descended.

The first golden light exploded in midair, and the manifested words were imprinted into the world background, becoming the bones and framework that constructed the world.

Seawater gushed forth from nothingness, surging with waves and flying spray.

Within the ocean, ferocious evil creatures loomed in and out. Their scales shimmered with silvery light under the sun.

Floating islands rose from the sea surface, with void bridges connecting the islands. The filled-in content continued to increase as time passed.

This was a world constructed according to the World of Inspiration novel ‘Sea of the Void,’ a world filled with all sorts of evil lifeforms known as void fiends.

At this time, the rule book in the independent space turned to the second page.

In an instant, the power of ink composing Written Word scene dissolved, and the world returned to its initialized state.

The second golden light circled in midair before exploding, and vague outlines composed of countless gears and steam emerged from the void.

As the gears interlocked, clacking sounds came forth. Steam rose from the ground, forming a hazy mist.

Within the mist, a city of steel and brass gradually revealed itself.

A massive steam engine roared at the city center. Gear-driven airships circled in the sky, and mechanical behemoths roared on the ground.

This was the worldview structured by the World of Inspiration novel ‘Mechanical Heart,’ a war world where steam and mechanical systems symbiotically coexisted.

The rule book turned the page again.

After splitting in midair, the third stream of golden light merged into the Written Word domain and became four elemental vortices.

The four elements of fire, water, gale, and earth-stone rose, forming a magnificent scene.

At this moment the flame turned into a dragon, roaring as it spewed blazing fire and dove from the sky.

Water turned into a giant whale that crashed upon the sea surface, raising surging waves that reached to the heavens.

The gale turned into a giant eagle that beat its wings to generate violent winds and fought in the long sky.

Earth-stone turned into a giant tortoise that raised its head and stamped the ground, and the earth trembled.

The four elemental divine beasts launched a charge toward the center of the world.

This was the worldview depicted in the World of Inspiration novel ‘Pinnacle of Elements,’ a war world ruled by four elemental divine sovereigns.

The rule book turned the page again, and the rule pen swiftly traced.

The fourth stream of light spread in midair and became a field of phantasmal mist.

Countless starry points of light appeared from within the mist.

Starships sped through the starry sky, star beasts crossed the void, and interwoven starlight formed a magnificent galactic scroll.

This was the vast interstellar war world depicted in the World of Inspiration novel ‘Tomb of the Stars.’

The fifth page, the sixth page… new worldviews of combat power systems rapidly switched and generated within the Written Word domain.

Although it could not achieve the terrifying Black Tide’s feat of building an all-system combat power, this would be the development direction in Written Word’s eyes for the future.

Henceforth, every page would be a war system. In the future it too would be like the terrifying Black Tide, with no shortcomings anywhere.

After 23 world systems were perfected, Written Word opened its eyes, its gaze passing through the domain fog toward the Ascension race’s islands.

The Ascension race was strong, but in its eyes it was only a whetstone.

This was the challenge it sent to itself. If it could overcome it, then by borrowing the growth brought by the Ascension race it would soar upward, break its shackles, and reach a new height.

If it failed, it would be but a meteor streaking across the sky.

This was the path it chose. In the future there were only two destinations, life or death.

Either ascend the absolute peak, or turn to dust.

“Ascension race, the offense and defense have switched.”

Gazing at the land of the Ascension race from afar, Written Word’s emotionless, indifferent voice resounded through the independent space.

Primordial Altar.

Through feedback from Guide, Qi Sheng understood the reason for the changes in the Written Word domain, and his eyes were full of appreciation.

The changes in the Written Word domain proved that Written Word had already set out on a brand-new path. By means that fit the three rules of Holder, Pen, and Book, it was constructing an alternative all-system war legion.

It even created a research and development base, a small world, to assist in perfecting its war legion system.

Previously he had not understood why Written Word dared to challenge the Ascension race, when Written Word was clearly the weaker side.

Even though seeds of doubt had been sown in the small cultivation world, time was still needed to wait.

Now he understood.

This was the tribulation Written Word set for itself, using the Ascension race as a whetstone to hone itself.

The time in the future in Written Word’s eyes was limited. No one knew when a world level war would open its curtain, so it had to seize the opportunity to become stronger.

Since it wanted to climb to the peak, it had to choose the fastest path of growth.

Weak races were unworthy to sharpen the blade. If one was to fight, then fight strong races sufficient to change one’s own future, and climb to a new height by borrowing the resources and foundation gained from defeating strong races.

“This world is truly becoming more and more exciting.”

Races contended to cross, and there were far too many potential races harboring the ambition to reach the peak of the world. Among them there might appear new talents who would leap over the Dragon Gate and reach a brand-new height.

Qi Sheng was very curious as to which races would have the qualifications to take a seat at the table when the peak war of the future opened its curtain.

“This future is truly something to look forward to.”
