Chapter 171-2: Deity Construction Build (2) |
Five days later, Colorful Mist Coast.
Evil Moon domain.
Atop the Evil Eye Tower, the Earthmind Evil Spirit was communicating with the Evil Eye.
With the war against the player race continuing to this point, the resources in the entire domain node were nearly exhausted.
The blue-skinned Evil Eye had lost control of the Evil Eye Tower and could not see the course of the war, yet it could sense that the resources within the tower below were continually being depleted.
It had asked about the progress of the battle many times.
In response, the Earthmind Evil Spirit solemnly stated that the player race’s offensive was growing fiercer, and then each time it generated a unit, it conveniently stole a portion of the resources.
As the war neared its end, the Earthmind Evil Spirit also began to consider how to withdraw.
Although it could dump the mess on the blue-skinned Evil Eye and let it fend for itself, after reestablishing the connection with the tower the blue-skinned Evil Eye would inevitably review the war record information.
But there was still a potential for exposure.
It would be better simply to pit and kill the blue-skinned Evil Eye before leaving, to eliminate future troubles.
“Evil Eye, what do you think?” the Earthmind Evil Spirit asked at this moment.
“I agree with your decision, but it is best that our projections die together instead of returning early, to prove that we fought to the end.”
“Alright.”
His view shifted then to the battlefield ahead.
Having realized that the Evil Eye domain was about to fall, more and more players had entered the Evil Moon domain over the past two days.
In an instant, the Earthmind Evil Spirit began generating frenzy tide and death-catastrophe series units, and a new round of intense clashes began.
During this process, the Evil Eye collected player information for him in real time.
“Evil Eye, have you noticed a problem? During the creation of Black Tide – Players, we collected a large amount of players’ facial features and found that many players’ appearances are very similar, even completely identical.”
Facing the inquiry, the Evil Eye nodded calmly.
“There are indeed many similar appearances, but their ability traits and life strength are not the same.”
As it spoke, the Evil Eye fed a large amount of information into the Earthmind Evil Spirit’s mind.
The information recorded comparative features on the battlefield of players with identical faces.
For example, a player in blue clothing had appeared many times in the Evil Moon domain.
But aside from the same appearance, other traits varied greatly.
The first appearance was in the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range, where this player’s ability was to fire electric light orbs. Vitality strength was 23.7, and mental power strength was 82.82.
The second appearance was in the Evil Moon domain of the Azure Star Sea Region, where this player used a dagger to roam and kill Black Tide Evil Entities. Both vitality and mental power values rose above 100.
Many subsequent appearances were in the Evil Moon domain underfoot. This player’s ability traits resembled the damage-soaking traits of the Black Tide natural-catastrophe series units, responsible for securing damage output space for the player team.
It could be seen that both combat style and life strength had changed significantly.
The only constant was the player’s face.
“It can be confirmed that some players only share an appearance, but differ in all other traits. There also exists a group with the same abilities but significant differences in life strength.” the Evil Eye explained at this time.
Hearing the Evil Eye’s explanation, the Earthmind nodded in understanding.
He was merely curious about the very high rate of appearance similarity among players, and he did not care why this situation occurred.
In any case, players were opponents in his eyes.
This lookalike information could not provide any help for defeating the players. It merely added another entry to the Player Information Database he was building for players, which might be useful in the future.
After clearing up the doubt, the Earthmind Evil Spirit continued to command the Black Tide against the players.
During this time, it once again activated the Psychological Interference Tactic and Treasure Chest Tactic.
Combat verification had shown that both tactics could significantly affect the players.
First was the Psychological Interference Tactic. Faced with his taunting lines, the players’ offensive methods became particularly aggressive, and they became irrational in battle. He could easily manipulate the players’ emotions.
Second, each use of the Treasure Chest Tactic could disrupt the players’ formation and cause internal chaos.
These were, in his eyes, two major weaknesses of the player race.
It even made him feel that the player legion had no strict and effective discipline management at all.
By contrast, although the Swarm units had no intelligence, under the control of the hive mind there was no situation of being affected by emotions or being interfered with by external forces.
Yet it was precisely such an unorganized, undisciplined, belligerent, and rash force that mastered the decomposition ability that perfectly countered the Black Tide.
They also possessed a series of rule-type abilities that were hard to counter.
To him, it felt like a bunch of fools who nevertheless held a suite of high-end combat technologies.
It was as if they were the natural nemesis of the Black Tide, which truly gave him a headache.
He now had only one thought, hoping that after the war in the Evil Moon domain ended, the player race’s target would not return to the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range.
If they really went back, he could only once again activate the natural-catastrophe series unit tactics to minimize losses in the war of attrition.
Members of the player race loved to fight, so he would do the opposite and deny the player race their wish.
He would do whatever made them suffer and feel disgusted, forcing the player race to voluntarily abandon the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range.
If that failed, the lateral expansion plan would be activated.
Although doing so would lose the strategic depth of the territory, at least he could still obtain development resources instead of waiting only for resources produced by the domain node.
That amount of resource income was barely enough to maintain scale.
If he kept consuming against the player race and the Battle Swarm like this and completely fell into the quagmire of war, sooner or later he would not withstand the consumption, and the Black Tide under his control would also head toward decline.
This was also what most vexed him.
As a Black Tide commander, he had actually lost a war of attrition. It was an utter humiliation.
“Earthmind, do not be distressed. You are merely an insignificant command warrior within the Black Tide, yet you face the player legion that has a continuous stream of support. To oppose alone a force that masters multiple rule powers, your performance is already quite good.”
“Thanks.” the Earthmind Evil Spirit said sourly.
“You are welcome. Soothing your emotions is my duty. If saying so can make you feel cheerful, I can say more, and can even provide some encouragement woven from lies, which may be more effective.” The Evil Eye’s projection blinked, then continued.
“In fact, you are the most outstanding Evil Spirit warrior I have ever seen. In every war you can command with ease. Your insight is unmatched, always able to grasp key moments on the ever-changing battlefield. Your wisdom makes the player race tremble with fear. You can construct perfectly countering Evil Entity legions and tactics according to the player race’s characteristics. You are worthy of being a potential warrior out of the Abyss.”
After the praise, the Evil Eye asked with slight curiosity.
“Earthmind, do you feel a pleasant emotion rippling within you?”
After hearing the praise, the Earthmind Evil Spirit was dumbfounded. It realized it had still underestimated the Evil Eye.
Compared to the players’ taunts toward him, the one at his side was the true master of taunting, especially with that innocent look in its eyes. His emotions churned.
“Earthmind, you still have not told me…”
“Shut up, you idiot.”
“Idiot is a common insult used by the player race. You have used it too frequently recently and may have been influenced by the player race to a certain extent. Continued use is not recommended. This may be an unknown mental pollution that subtly alters your cognition and habits.”
“Idiot Evil Eye, you are an idiot.”
“Very well. From now on I am the idiot. You may address me so. My mother did not grant me a name. Thank you for bestowing one upon me.”
Earthmind: …
