Chapter 89-3: Battle The Swarm (3)

The existence of the Emperor, the creator of Monster World who could rival their ‘Lord,’ was already something that left him in disbelief.

Now, unexpectedly, another new force had appeared, the Battle Swarm, which had fought wars with the terrifying Black Tide across multiple worlds.

“This world… is terrifying.”

“I was born in Monster World and have never set foot in the other worlds conquered by our race, but according to the intelligence shared by other nodes, the difficulty of conquering this world far surpasses any world the other Evil Eyes have encountered. It would not be an exaggeration to call it the strongest. Every faction here is extremely troublesome. That’s also why our race has never been able to fully devour Monster World.”

At this point, the Evil Eye paused.

“Based on the current situation, our race’s devouring process in Monster World has already been severely restricted. Progress grows slower and slower. We may need to transfer additional forces from the main world and other worlds into Monster World.”

Hearing this, Dinian’s doubts deepened.

“If this world is so important, why didn’t we deploy warriors from the main world at the very beginning when it was first discovered?”

Faced with this question, the Evil Eye fell silent and began retrieving information from other node transmissions.

After a long time, the Evil Eye finally spoke.

“In fact, when our race first entered this world, we immediately realized it could not be easily devoured. At that time, demigod-level forces from the main world were dispatched to join the war.”

“Demigod-level?” Dinian was startled and quickly asked. “Then where are the demigods now?”

His tone carried deep respect at the mention of demigods, a reverence from the heart.

“Without exception, all perished.”

At that moment, Dinian stood in stunned silence, even his consciousness controlling the Black Tide wavered for several seconds.

Fortunately, he quickly came to his senses and resumed controlling the Black Tide in combat. He then turned to look at the Evil Eye.

“All dead?”

“I can confirm, all perished, without exception.”

Red light flickered in Dinian’s eyes as he forcibly suppressed his surging emotions, his voice sinking as he continued asking.

“I want to know the details of that battle.”

“I was not part of the battle. None of the other nodes I can connect to participated in that catastrophe, so I cannot provide detailed information on the course of the war. All I know is that every node assistant and every warrior involved in that war died in battle. The opponent was a rule-level god of Monster World. In the end, we lost. No warrior returned, and that rule-level god of Monster World has since vanished, not appearing for thousands of years.”

The Evil Eye’s report filled Dinian with dread.

As a Commander Class warrior, he had fought in two small-world-level wars and believed he had seen many powerful beings.

But here in Monster World, the so-called powerful beings he had seen could only be described as childish and laughable.

Even with his Commander Class strength, assisted by the Evil Eye’s Black Tide, he couldn’t even conquer a single region, being completely suppressed by the player race, unable to kill them all.

He had thought it was simply bad luck that he had landed in an area where another invading force blocked his expansion.

But now he realized that in the wider Monster World, there were far more unimaginable opponents.

The player race he encountered wasn’t even considered a real threat. At least, no other Evil Eye node had ever clashed with them, proving that the player race was merely a small faction that had only invaded this particular region and never appeared on the larger battlefield.

He recalled what the Evil Eye said, that all of the Black Tide’s core-level forces, the ‘demigods,’ had died upon entering Monster World.

He couldn’t even begin to imagine the scale of that battle.

The aftermath alone might have been enough to crush numerous small worlds.

“Focus on the battle. Don’t overthink it. Your growth has only just begun. Don’t fall here.”

Hearing the Evil Eye’s reminder, Dinian forced himself to refocus and began controlling the Black Tide to counterattack the Swarm’s advancing front line.

The brutal slaughter continued. The Swarm warriors pushed forward by sacrificing their own lives.

To stop their advance, Dinian was forced to retract Black Tide forces from other directions and concentrate all his strength on the main battlefront before the Evil Eye Tower.

Facing the threat of the tower’s destruction, Dinian even contemplated personally entering the battlefield.

But the Evil Eye stopped him, stating that as a commander-type warrior, he must not engage unless absolutely necessary. Doing so would severely affect the Black Tide’s combat effectiveness, throwing its offense into disarray and chaos.

Elsewhere.

After listening in on the conversation between Dinian and the Evil Eye, Qi Sheng turned to look at Guide floating beside him.

“Demigod war? That actually happened?”

[Of course. I remember telling you about it back when you first inherited the trace of Origin from Emperor’s Sign.]

“I had just arrived in Monster World back then, didn’t like classes as a kid, didn’t pay much attention… I forgot. Now tell me in detail.”

[The situation was simple. The Black Tide brought a bunch of world-rule-level big shots swinging huge blades, shouting that they were going to chop down us four brothers. Could we tolerate that? When we heard the news, the four of us were furious. We grabbed our axes and prepared to strike back. I charged in first, with one slash, two demigods fell. Then I looked over, my brother Yan Ming’s ‘Moon Over the Well’ technique killed two more. Our sister Transdimensional was swinging two giant iron hammers with unstoppable force, those demigods couldn’t even get close. The battle was absolute chaos, day and night blurred, sun and moon darkened. I hacked so much I nearly collapsed from exhaustion. I’ve never been so tired in my life… But there was no choice, those bastards were out for our lives, swearing to destroy our home. Of course we couldn’t back down, we had to fight them to the end…]

Listening to Guide’s simple, easy-to-understand summary, Qi Sheng’s forehead twitched with frustration.

Should I be feeling impressed that these four are so overpowered or that the swarm has so many demigods? Or something...
