Chapter 85-3: The Water Valley Attack (3) |
Two days later.
All members of the first-phase training camp gathered at the drill grounds.
A spatial vortex tore open the sky, and a massive shuttlecraft slowly emerged from the black hole.
When the shuttle landed, its heavy metal doors opened. Fifty reserve trainees from the Water Valley Training Camp, led by their instructors, entered and merged into Li Zheng’s unit.
Just as the instructor had said three days prior.
Starting today, the first-phase freshmen from Water Valley Training Camp would join them in training.
The freshmen of both camps would compete against each other in subsequent training modules.
As Mad Sand spoke, Li Zheng and the others continuously used the analysis function to observe the new Water Valley trainees.
They found that the hunting levels of these new trainees were all quite strong.
“This training camp is starting to feel like some kind of gu breeding ground. One batch after another, competing for survival. Are they trying to raise a Gu King?”
“Have you noticed that most of these new trainees seem to center around the Poro race? They all follow behind them.”
“Hey, you’re right. This batch might’ve already determined their boss and may gang up on us.”
“No way… not another beating. Hopefully, they pick the Four-Eyed race first instead of us.”
—
Li Zheng and the others completely ignored Mad Sand’s follow-up training instructions, instead chatting in the voice channel to exchange information on the new recruits.
When breakfast time arrived, the two groups of trainees, now mixed together, followed Mad Sand to the cafeteria.
As soon as they entered, Li Zheng and the others saw a Poro race trainee take the lead, walking up to the food counter. After turning around, he clapped his hands loudly to draw everyone’s attention.
This Poro trainee had refined features, a tall and powerfully built body with well-defined muscles that combined both ruggedness and strength. His skin was a deep bronze tone, as though tempered by time and hardship. The most striking feature was his mismatched eyes: one red, one black.
Through Guide’s translation, Li Zheng and the others learned that his name was Elro.
After clapping, Elro grinned and swept his gaze over the Snow Valley freshmen.
“Every time our Poro race joins a training camp, we follow one rule: the strong eat first. Only after the strong have eaten may the weak take their turn… Of course, this rule can be broken. We Poro are willing to give you another option.”
As he spoke, Elro picked up a meal tray and let it fall to the ground, shattering into pieces as the spiritual food scattered everywhere.
“If you’re willing to give up your dignity and eat off the floor, you may do so at any time. We won’t stop you.”
Hearing these words, Li Zheng and the others looked utterly helpless.
They had only enjoyed two days of peaceful meals, and now bullying had returned.
“So, starting now, we will eat first. After we’re done, it will be your turn. I don’t know how your Snow Valley camp divides its strength rankings, so you may decide for yourselves this time. Hurry up; you only have 15 minutes to eat.”
With that, Elro turned and began gathering his spiritual food.
His fellow Poro followed suit.
The rest of the Water Valley trainees lined up behind the Poro freshmen in an orderly fashion, waiting for their turn to eat.
Seeing this, Li Zheng shrugged.
“Brothers, the word ‘yield’ doesn’t exist in my dictionary. Shall we grind again?”
“Of course we grind! Starve them out. I hate bullying the most.”
“I’ve already reserved two pieces of spiritual fish from Casting a Line for tonight’s dinner. Ready for battle.”
“Even in the worst case, we still have canned food. No way we lose to these bastards.”
—
Since they decided not to submit to the Poro race’s rules, Li Zheng followed the instructions left by the God of Wealth before he left.
This time, the Grind Kings decided to take the initiative.
Taking the lead, Li Zheng stepped forward and pointed directly at Elro.
“Hey you… Elro or whatever, put that tray down, you bastard!”
Hearing this familiar shout, the various Snow Valley freshmen displayed colorful expressions.
They didn’t even need to think to know they were about to be dragged into another hunger endurance battle by the player race.
The brief days of enjoying hot meals were over.
Facing the charging Li Zheng, Elro turned and kicked him away. The tray in his hand tipped over at the same time.
Smack!
The tray hit the ground, scattering spiritual food everywhere.
Elro’s expression turned ugly. His racial kin wasted no time, placing their trays on nearby empty tables and rushing toward the oncoming player race.
Dirt Poor, who charged right behind Li Zheng, became the first target.
A Poro trainee raised his fist, aiming straight for Dirt Poor’s face.
But at that moment, a figure appeared even faster, grabbing the Poro trainee’s falling fist.
Dirt Poor, who had already closed his eyes preparing for impact, turned his head in surprise and saw that the one who had blocked the attack was his old rival, Ghost Eye.
“Ghost Eye?”
Ghost Eye ignored Dirt Poor, grinning fiercely as he stared at the Poro trainee. In a raspy voice, he said.
“Forgot to tell you. Snow Valley also has a rule: if one eats, everyone eats… or no one eats.”
With that, Ghost Eye swung his arm, hurling the Poro trainee aside. The unfortunate target crashed through several tables before slamming onto the floor.
Afterward, Ghost Eye turned to look at Li Zheng, who had already climbed to his feet after being kicked.
“Hey, can you keep going for another round?”
“Of course! I can go till I drop! In short, nobody eats, let’s smash them!” Li Zheng replied without hesitation.
As Li Zheng’s words fell, the Four-Eyed race, Night Hawk race, Brass race, and other Snow Valley trainees all joined the fray.
“Brothers, beat them to a pulp!”
A full-scale battle between the Water Valley and Snow Valley trainees broke out instantly, with trays and spiritual food flying through the air.
