Chapter 70-1: Seriously? You’re Just Hating Now? (1)

Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range.

Broken Star watched from afar as members of the player race hunted Evil Entities, his doubts growing stronger after days of observation.

In order to investigate this ancient force calling themselves the player race, he had secretly observed and tracked them for quite some time, ultimately reaching an astonishing conclusion.

The player race’s homeland was likely located in an extraterrestrial world.

He had observed that members of the player race appeared only at the outer edges of the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range.

This was a region he was unable to penetrate, very likely a world barrier isolating Monster World from extraterrestrial realms.

Thus, it could be inferred that the player race, who had fallen into slumber since ancient times, had returned from the extraterrestrial world or even from other dimensional planes.

Though Broken Star had never personally visited any extraterrestrial worlds, he had some understanding of them.

According to the combat instructors of the Anti-Tide Legion, one of the newly risen forces in the past two hundred years, the ‘Immortal Race,’ was an extraterrestrial faction.

Their homeland had been corrupted and destroyed by the Black Tide. The surviving members arrived in Monster World before their world collapsed and, alongside other races who had faced similar disasters, formed a powerful legion to resist the Black Tide.

The situation of the player race, however, was completely opposite.

When the Black Tide was at its most ferocious, they retreated to the extraterrestrial realm and had only recently awakened and returned, attempting to reignite the flame of the Emperor’s Sign.

But he did not doubt the loyalty of the players.

Their hatred of Evil Entities was no less than his own, as seen from their consistent behavior of launching fierce attacks upon encountering Evil Entities, fighting to the death even when outmatched.

There must have been a reason for their retreat back then.

Additionally, the player race’s way of thinking and problem-solving clearly differed from his own.

This was also very characteristic of ancient forces, they held completely different values compared to beings born in this era.

Only one thing puzzled him.

The players’ entry into Monster World was not a mass migration but rather a steady stream of individuals crossing the world barrier, roaming the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range in search of Evil Entities to fight.

To him, it looked like the player race was taking turns to die, completely lacking any tactical deployment.

Compared to other forces in Monster World, the players couldn’t even be called weak, they barely managed to fight unintelligent Evil Entities and only barely won.

However, the player race wasn’t without merits.

Over the past days of observation, he had discovered their astonishing growth potential.

Several specifically observed members of the player race displayed growth speeds that left him dumbfounded.

In just one week, they had gone from barely managing to kill a Blood Corpse through teamwork to being able to take one down solo, a leap in power accomplished in mere days.

For example, one member of the player race whom he had gifted the Celestial Rune Combat Technique had rapidly grasped its usage and was already easily absorbing heaven and earth’s aura to temper his body.

Such terrifying learning speed was something he had never seen before.

His understanding was that the long slumber had severely weakened the players, and through combat, they were gradually regaining their lost strength.

Moreover, the players’ abilities were unique.

They could transform into various monster forms, each possessing different abilities and traits, some even showed faint shadows of Rule traits.

This discovery only reinforced Broken Star’s conviction.

If possible, he hoped to integrate the player race into the Anti-Tide Legion, making them one of its many constituent forces.

It was said that the Anti-Tide Legion’s outpost in the Great Northern Region had already absorbed one such extraterrestrial force, known for their fierce combat prowess, now one of the strongest branches in that region.

This idea had taken root in Broken Star’s mind, believing that incorporating the player race would greatly benefit the Anti-Tide Legion’s development.

But an unsolved problem remained: how could he establish contact with the trial inspector Elder You?

Having lost his shuttle, his way back was cut off; his only hope was to wait for the Overseer to find him.

If he himself couldn’t return, how could he possibly lead the player race back with him?

He sighed and turned his gaze toward the approaching players.

Seeing them rushing toward him, Broken Star decisively took to the skies and fled.

Clearly, the players had no good intentions in approaching, they would definitely try to give him all sorts of strange items and then request various tools, materials, or even Information Stones containing combat technique data.

To repay the life-saving favor they had given him, he had already handed over many of his portable items.

By now, he had nothing left to give them.

Except for the rune battle armor on his body.

The players would undoubtedly have the nerve to ask for it, but he would never give it up.

The armor was his father’s relic, linked directly to his heart. Even in death, he could not remove it.

Since he couldn’t bring himself to attack the players due to the life-saving debt, his only option was to keep avoiding them.

Primordial Altar.

At this moment, Qi Sheng was browsing a trending forum post.

The post discussed the first-generation Primordial Monster ‘Mud Fiend,’ which had been contained three hours prior.

The Mud Fiend resembled a lump of clay, discovered accidentally by a newbie player squad while exploring near Spirit Weapon Valley. Its ability trait was ‘Dissolve.’

It could spit sticky mucus, causing continuous corrosive damage through strong acid to targets it touched.

The appearance of a new Monster Soul should have been cause for widespread celebration.

However, the Mud Fiend’s hideous appearance led to widespread dislike among forum players, with many labeling it the most disgusting Primordial Monster. The majority believed no player would ever want to purchase or embed such a soul.

Yet on that very day, a player developed a hunting strategy specifically suited for the Dissolve soul.

The player enthusiastically shared both their concept and live combat footage on the forum, naming it the Trap Build strategy.

The strength of this strategy lay in allowing players to easily hunt monsters far above their level.
