Chapter 65-1: New Territory Expansion (1) |
[(Guide) Dark Land New Gameplay Share: The Art of Fishing]

Before introducing this new gameplay, let me first explain my situation.
In real life, I am a veteran fishing enthusiast who loves going out to cast a few lines on holidays.
However, I live in Yunwu City, which was once hit by mutation warheads during the Mechanical Legion’s attack, causing many aquatic fish species to mutate. In recent years, it feels like these fish have evolved intelligence, becoming impossible to catch. The joy of fishing has sharply declined.
So, I thought of satisfying my fishing urge in a virtual game.
Luckily, I managed to secure a purchase qualification during the second release wave of Dark Land, allowing me to enter Monster World and experience the game.
But my early attempts at fishing in the game were unsuccessful.
Even the weakest monsters in Monster World were stronger than my human form, and without a powerful physique, it was impossible to pull aquatic creatures ashore. Instead, I would get dragged into the water.
To solve this, I chose to hunt and level up alongside my guildmates.
Now, my Gargoyle form has reached level 12, and I finally decided to begin my fishing journey.
With my strength problem resolved, let’s get to the main point, I’ll explain in detail how to fish in the game.
There’s no fishing gear sold in the in-game shop, so if you want to fish, all your equipment must be handmade.
After a week of research, I’ve crafted a basic fishing setup for everyone’s reference. If anyone has better ideas, feel free to post replies, I’ll respond when I see them.
Here’s my version 1.0 fishing gear crafting guide:
Fishing Line:
I used silk spun from Iron Shell Bugs, woven and twisted together. Field-tested, extremely durable.
Fishing Rod:
Made from bamboo found near Spirit Weapon Valley in the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range. Very flexible, perfect for beginner fishing. In the future, I may switch to stronger spirit wood rods once I find suitable materials. (Map coordinates marked)
Fish Hook:
I collected broken weapons from the Ancient Battlefield and hammered them bit by bit with an axe (completely exhausted me). The strength reached equipment grade 3, good enough for fishing (at least for my current fishing spot where aquatic creatures aren’t too strong).
Float:
I used hollow reeds growing near Turtleback Lake. They’re light and buoyant, ideal float materials. Choose reeds with moderate thickness and suitable length; works great.
Bait:
I used food cans purchased from the shop, mixed with water and kneaded into bait. I’m considering mixing fish meat into the bait, but the cost is a bit high.
Fishing Spots:
Currently, there are two confirmed fishing spots: Ripple Pool (northwest of Ancient Battlefield, map coordinates provided), and Turtleback Lake (map coordinates provided). Both locations have aquatic creatures. I’ll publish a detailed guide on the underwater species at these locations once I become more familiar with them.

After explaining how to craft fishing gear, I’ve attached a video of my successful catch and screenshots of the results:

Finally, let me say: the fish meat is simply too delicious… Once you taste it, you’ll never forget it. My mind is filled with the flavor of fish meat. I’m about to catch another one and try grilling it next (happy.jpg).
In summary, fishing allows you to earn sacrificial power, gain body tempering experience, and earn evolution points by killing aquatic creatures pulled ashore.
As I write this guide, I’m already imagining the day I hook hundred-meter-long giant fishes, or even stronger aquatic monsters.
Fishing, in my opinion, is incredibly fun and holds great potential for expansion.
Most importantly, the aquatic creatures in Monster World are incredibly diverse. Besides fish, there are all sorts of underwater monsters. Every cast is filled with anticipation. I’m even considering compiling an illustrated guide to underwater creatures.
This is a gameplay style I stumbled upon as a fisherman, and I wanted to share it with everyone.

The Guide posted by Wu Quan quickly shot to the top of the forum’s 24-hour popularity ranking.
And this was exactly the result Wu Quan had hoped for.
He wrote the Guide in great detail, focusing on the rewards of fishing and the astonishing taste experience of fish meat, to attract more players into the fishing playstyle.
After the post went live, many players jumped into the discussion.
Endless Night: As expected of a fully open-world game, every kind of playstyle appears. I thought the emergence of Arms Dealers was already insane, but now we have professional fishermen. I can’t even imagine what weird growth builds will emerge in the future.
Is This a Beaver?: Bro, you’re insane. You handcrafted an entire fishing setup. Dark Land selling this game to you for 128,888 was a steal. You’re truly playing this as a full sandbox world… The way you describe the fish meat makes me crave it. Any chance you’d sell me one? I’m sick of canned food in-game. As a foodie, I’ve always wanted to try spiritual plants, but your description has me even more excited. DM me if you’re interested, I can pay real cash for fish meat.
Cute Baby (Kindergarten Little Class): I’m not personally interested in fishing, but I’m sure your guide will attract plenty of players to join the fishing party. I can already imagine a hilarious scene: a super muscular guy standing above a bottomless sea, reeling in a sea beast thousands of meters long and engaging in an epic brawl. In theory, to fish powerful aquatic monsters, you need even greater strength as a foundation, otherwise, who’s fishing who might be questionable.
Game Gold-Farmer: Oh no, you clearly don’t realize the impact your guide post has caused. You mentioned that the fishing line is made from Iron Shell Bug silk. I used to have a ton of it, but I sacrificed it all to the Emperor’s Sign. Now this material is probably going to skyrocket in price. The hoarder players must be overjoyed, while I’ve suffered huge losses (God of Wealth enraged.jpg).
Shield & Sword Power: Hahaha, thanks for the Guide, bro. Although I still prefer hunting monsters, I’m also very interested in fishing. Just like you, I’m a fishing enthusiast in real life. I’ve bookmarked your guide and will go fishing when I want to relax. I’m really looking forward to tasting the fish meat you described. By the way, what fishing technique are you using?
Casting a Line (Original Poster) replied to Shield & Sword Power: Just regular rod fishing… but if you’re interested, feel free to develop other fishing methods.
Shield & Sword Power replied to Casting a Line: How about using psionic bombs to blast fish? (smirking)
Fishing Alone for Eternity: Thanks for the Guide, bro. It’s because of generous players like you that us newbies can learn and improve. I’ve decided to follow in your footsteps and become a fishing player. Time to start making my fishing gear and set out!
Food-Seeking Cat: This is exactly why I love browsing the forum, always discovering new and interesting playstyles. I admire your creativity. While I play the game in normal mode, you guys are playing in innovation mode. I look forward to seeing this build grow and expand. As a hoarder, I just love collecting all sorts of odd materials. By the way, I’ve got a huge stash of Iron Shell Bug silk sitting in my inventory that I never sold, hehe.
