Chapter 53: Explosive Tactics |
The confrontation with the Mystic Butterfly ultimately ended with Lu Xing temporarily giving up.
But just because Lu Xing gave up didn’t mean other players were willing to.
A large number of players eager to acquire the Wind Control inherited soul attempted to hunt the Mystic Butterfly through other methods.
They tried solo challenges, baiting with food, setting traps, and various other approaches, but the Mystic Butterfly was different from mindless Primordial Monsters like Bonefire. It would stay alert and carefully observe its surroundings. Even if it flew away from the bushes temporarily, it would thoroughly inspect the environment upon its return.
Any change would cause the Mystic Butterfly to leave.
As a result, multiple group attempts by the players ended in failure.
In the end, they could only flock to Lu Xing’s livestream, trying to persuade him, hoping to reignite his fighting spirit and get him to challenge the Mystic Butterfly again.
But after being beaten up several times, Lu Xing had gotten smarter.
In his eyes, the spectators in the livestream were nothing but smooth-talkers who couldn’t offer any reliable strategy to defeat the Mystic Butterfly and only encouraged him to keep trying.
Each attempt lasted at least half an hour.
After this ordeal, Lu Xing’s mindset changed.
He decided to temporarily give up on his world traveling plan and focus on improving his strength, planning to challenge the Mystic Butterfly again once he was strong enough.
Another reason for his desire to improve was for safer travels in the future. Who knew what kind of bizarre monsters like the Mystic Butterfly he might encounter during exploration? Stronger power would provide safety for his journey.
While Lu Xing was determined to grow stronger, the Purification Campaign in the Shadowed Cavern had already advanced to the underground palace.
Guided by prompts, the players learned that the Corrosion Core was located behind the palace. They thought that breaking it would complete the purification, and victory was within reach.
But it was at this point that an unexpected event occurred.
Sensing the threat, the Corrosion Core activated the Black Armor Soldiers standing in front of the palace, initiating a massacre of the players.
Each Black Armor Soldier had once been a powerful warrior under Iceblade. Though they had fought until their vitality was depleted and their bodies damaged, after being corrupted and transformed into Cursed Soldiers by the Black Tide energy, they now generally had a hunt level of 25 or higher.
The players, on the other hand, were only averaging level 10 at this stage.
Faced with the slaughter by the Black Armor Soldiers, the player legions formed by various guild alliances were completely outmatched, and the battle was one-sidedly crushed.
After being wiped out several times, the respawned players regrouped on the forum to devise new tactics.
Many bizarre and creative strategies emerged during this discussion.
One particular idea posted by a player quickly attracted attention, sparking heated debate beneath the post.
[How to kill the Black Armor Soldiers in front of the underground palace? I have a reliable idea.]
Poster: Weapon Master

I am a member of the Doomsday Technology Guild and have participated in the entire Shadowed Cavern war these past few days.
Fighting alongside everyone has been exhilarating. I haven’t felt this happy in a long time.
Now, let’s get to the point.
In these days of fighting the Black Armor Soldiers, I’ve found that at our current strength level, defeating them is still too difficult. The vast power gap has led to repeated failures despite our joint efforts.
I’ve read the various tactical suggestions on the forum just now, but to me, most of them aren’t reliable. The only workable one seems to be the war of attrition: repeatedly throwing ourselves into battle after each wipeout to gradually whittle down the Black Armor Soldiers.
But this method is undeniably too slow.
So I propose an upgraded version of the war of attrition. Here’s the custom weapon I’ve recently made (attached: analysis diagram):
[Psionic Bomb]
Item Quality: Level 10
Item Analysis: A custom weapon crafted by player ‘Weapon Master.’ By altering the internal structure of a spirit stone, it becomes unstable. With mental manipulation, the final support structure can be destroyed, triggering an explosive energy surge.

My Psionic Bomb causes area damage upon detonation, with immense power.
Here’s a combat video clip (attached: video).
In the footage, I killed 8 blood corpses within the blast range using just three Psionic Bombs.
Therefore, my idea is to use mass Psionic Bomb explosions to kill the Black Armor Soldiers.
The only drawback of this tactic is that only players in Owl-Headed Fiend, Bonefire, and Qi Eater monster forms possess the powerful mental strength necessary to detonate Psionic Bombs through externalized mental control. Other forms lack sufficient mental strength to trigger them.
Another unresolved issue is that throwing the Psionic Bombs requires great strength.
How to throw them is a problem.
My proposed tactic is to abandon throwing entirely. Instead, players who have chosen the Owl-Headed Fiend, Qi Eater, or Bonefire forms will charge while carrying Psionic Bombs, detonating them after closing in on the Black Armor Soldiers, sacrificing themselves to deal massive damage.
In theory, this tactic could rapidly wipe out the Black Armor Soldiers, allowing us to secure the Shadowed Cavern Territory Node.
This is just my personal idea. If anyone disagrees, please go easy!
Comment Section:
Is This a Beaver?: Damn, bro, your tactic is basically turning us into suicide bombers, sacrificing ourselves to damage the Black Armor Soldiers.
Endless Night: This tactic is kind of interesting. I think it’s worth a try. The purification task calculates rewards based on contribution, so there’s no issue of sacrificing with no return. Even just damaging the Black Armor Soldiers without killing them still counts toward contribution, so no one needs to worry about losses.
Orange Perfume: This really is a game where mage type inherited souls save the world. In the end, it’s up to us to carry the purification mission (sarcastic.jpg).
Dark Land Is Fun: Seems worth trying. Mass charge and self-detonation: even if we don’t kill the Black Armor Soldiers, we get contribution points from the damage dealt. If we actually manage to kill one, it’s a huge profit with instant level-ups and massive sacrificial power gains. It’s like scratching lottery tickets. Gamblers will love it.
Vosnidia: Feasible, absolutely feasible. I fully support it. But I suspect your main motive is to sell Psionic Bombs. You arms dealer guild folks are all profiteers. As far as I know, crafting a Psionic Firearm costs only 100 sacrificial power, but you sell them for 150, pocketing a 50% profit margin.
Weapon Master (OP) replied to Vosnidia: That’s not entirely wrong. But since this joint operation benefits everyone, I’ll only charge cost plus a 5% fee for the Psionic Bombs.

Qin Ye’s idea ignited heated discussion on the forum.
The suicide bombing tactic received widespread support, as players agreed that since everyone would be dying anyway, this approach could deal greater damage to the Black Armor Soldiers.
Most importantly, each explosion was like a lottery draw. With some luck, killing a weakened Black Armor Soldier would yield massive sacrificial power and evolution point rewards.
The post was soon pinned to the top of the forum’s trending board.
And with that came a flood of orders.
The core members of the Doomsday Technology Guild were recalled to Emperor’s Mound Village by Guild Leader Yang Tianxuan to focus on producing Psionic Bombs.
