Chapter 49: Fourth-Generation Primordial Mystic Butterfly |
The discovery of a Fourth-Generation Primordial Monster caused a stir on the forum.
A large number of players flocked to Lu Xing’s livestream, eager to see what a Fourth-Generation Primordial Monster actually looked like.
When they saw that the Mystic Butterfly’s Hunt Level was only Level 7, many of the viewers felt conflicted.
One of the greatest pains in life is watching others strike it rich while you get nothing.
The Mystic Butterfly’s Soul Attribute also sparked heated discussion among the viewers:
Dark Land Is Fun: This Soul Attribute is interesting. The analysis says it enables flight, defense, and attack. Isn’t this every Monster Build player’s dream soul? One soul that covers all needs.
Slaughter Everywhere: Bro, you can’t handle this Primordial Monster. Let me take over. I’m on my way. Make sure it doesn’t escape!
Endless Night: You guys don’t realize how insane the ‘Wind Control’ trait of the Mystic Butterfly is. I can guarantee that this soul will absolutely become a universal must-have for everyone later on.
Leopard-Headed F2P replying to Endless Night: Bro, can you elaborate? I benefited a lot from your previous Soul Build guide post, but I don’t quite get why Wind Control will become a universal choice.
The Monster World map is massive. In the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range alone, we’ve only uncovered 9.6% of the map fog, and there are still vast unexplored regions.
In these open-world games with extremely high freedom, traveling is a headache for every player.
Other games usually solve this problem with two systems: mounts and teleportation.
Dark Land hasn’t introduced teleportation or mounts yet. Whether it will in the future, I don’t know. So for now, we can only walk to our destinations.
At present, traveling from Emperor’s Mound Village to the Blood-Soaked Plains takes an hour of walking.
Guide’s analysis highlighted two key points of the Wind Control soul: flight and faster movement speed.
This means embedding Wind Control can drastically shorten travel time. In addition, its speed advantage in battle allows for easier dodging and escape, making it an all-purpose soul with extremely high strength.
—
Endless Night was a very well-known strategy guide player on the forum.
His previous post sharing three Star Vein combination builds was once pinned at the top of the forum’s popularity board, attracting many players’ attention.
His analysis in the livestream made the viewers fully realize how powerful the Wind Control trait was.
The simple fact of greatly shortening travel time alone would persuade most players to embed it, allowing them to save tremendous travel time and focus more on hunting monsters or harvesting resources.
In the livestream, players urged Lu Xing to hurry up and take down the Mystic Butterfly before it escaped.
Before this common interest, any sour feelings disappeared.
They even grew nervous.
Primordial Monsters were different from Evil Entities. They weren’t confined to specific environments or restricted by lunar phases.
And since the Mystic Butterfly could fly, if it wasn’t contained this time, it might not appear in the same place again, it could very well fly out of the Emperor’s Mound Mountain Range entirely.
With such an important Soul Attribute, every player wanted to possess it.
Under the viewers’ urging, Lu Xing switched to his Owl-Headed Fiend form and cautiously approached the Mystic Butterfly.
Sensing his approach, a figure suddenly leapt out of the bushes and appeared before Lu Xing and the livestream audience.
It had a pair of large wings, a big, round head, and a sleek, graceful body covered in white feathers. Under the moonlight, its feathers reflected rapidly shifting iridescent colors. The large emerald eyes on its body made it appear somewhat cute.
“Goo goo!”
The Mystic Butterfly let out a cry, seemingly issuing a warning to Lu Xing.
“I’m only Level 7. I might not be its match.”
Upon hearing Lu Xing’s words, the viewers flooded the chat with encouragement, urging him not to fear a same-level fight and to make sure the Fourth-Generation Primordial didn’t get away.
Encouraged by the cheering, Lu Xing gritted his teeth, flapped his wings, and lunged at the Mystic Butterfly.
“Goo!”
The Mystic Butterfly cried again, violently flapping its wings. A fierce gust of wind howled, blowing Lu Xing back. He tumbled several times in the air before landing hard on the ground.
“Again!”
Determined, Lu Xing got up and charged once more, wings flapping.
But the outcome remained unchanged. With just a light flap of its wings, the Mystic Butterfly whipped up another strong wind that sent him flying again. He couldn’t even get close.
After several failed charges, Lu Xing felt like giving up.
But the viewers weren’t giving up. They insisted victory was close, arguing that the Mystic Butterfly was expending mental power with every Wind Control use and would soon run out of energy. If he held on a bit longer, he’d win.
Reluctantly, Lu Xing steeled himself and continued.
Half an hour later, after being blown back once again, Lu Xing crashed hard to the ground and couldn’t get up.
He was a complete mess, with most of his red feathers fallen off, and his entire body aching.
Just as Lu Xing was about to give up, a notification sounded in his mind.
[Challenger Notification: Received a 10 point sacrificial power tip from ‘Spare Change Unspent.’ After a 3-point fee deduction, 7 points received.]
[Challenger Notification: Received a 30 point sacrificial power tip from ‘Scored 5 on Math Test.’ After a 9-point fee deduction, 21 points received.]
[Challenger Notification: …]
Seeing Lu Xing about to give up, the viewers decisively chose to keep him going with their wallet power.
They pointed out that the sacrificial power from tips could be used in the item shop to buy healing potions, allowing him to restore his injuries and rejoin the fight.
Thanks to the audience’s generous donations, Lu Xing’s fighting spirit was reignited. He bought potions from the shop and drank them, his injuries visibly healing, and his fallen feathers regrowing.
Looking up, he saw the Mystic Butterfly staring at him with an almost human-like dumbfounded expression, as if mocking him.
“Kill!”
Gritting his teeth, Lu Xing launched another round of assaults.
The viewers filled the livestream with emotional cheers, shouting encouragement as donation notifications continued ringing in his mind.
On his fourth major healing, as Lu Xing charged again, he was pleasantly surprised to find that the Mystic Butterfly no longer used Wind Control.
“Finally…!”
Lu Xing extended his sharp beak, ready to deliver the finishing blow.
Just as he closed within half a meter of the butterfly, the Mystic Butterfly suddenly lifted its wings and slammed them down with lightning speed, its wings becoming a blur.
Smack!
The blow struck the top of Lu Xing’s head, slamming him heavily to the ground before the butterfly. His vision spun, stars flashing before his eyes, and everything went blurry.
Seeing this, the livestream erupted in wails.
After Endless Night’s analysis, many players had already deemed the Wind Control soul a future must-have in Star Vein combinations.
Some viewers were even more nervous than Lu Xing himself.
Now, seeing him completely flattened, some players furiously posted in the livestream.
Lost the fight, refund the tips!
