Chapter 353: The Retreat Cut Off

Maiev, as the commander of the Night Elf Watchers, was herself a top-level assassin extremely skilled in assassination.

Her famous technique, Shadow Assault, had assassinated countless powerful individuals from various races.

So although this assassination came suddenly, the experienced Maiev did not panic, nor did she retreat!

Because Maiev knew very well that most assassinations were not impulsive but had multiple backup plans to ensure success.

If she retreated, it would most likely lead to the enemy’s subsequent traps, putting her in an even worse situation.

Therefore, she chose to move forward.

And she had the ability to do so!

At the moment the dagger was about to pierce her throat, her figure instantly became illusory.

When her form reappeared, she was already outside on the deck.

This was another of her famous techniques, and also one of the hardest secrets for the Watchers to master — Blink! Using powerful shadow energy to break space and teleport instantly within her line of sight.

In some ways, this move was similar to the Shadowstep of Azeroth’s high-level rogues but more advanced.

However, just as Maiev had escaped the dagger’s strike and had not yet relaxed, she suddenly felt a heavy weight on her body and almost knelt to the ground!

On the ground of the deck where she stood, a magic formation appeared.

Not good, she had still been hit!

Alarms rang loudly in Maiev’s heart. She immediately wanted to use Blink to escape again, but the next second, multiple black energy chains shot out from the formation, binding her tightly and completely suppressing the power inside her body!

“Heh heh, the famous Watcher really lives up to her reputation. It’s a pity, though, that we’ve long known everything about you...Give up struggling and surrender, Maiev Shadowsong!” Just as Maiev tried to struggle, a familiar voice sounded. Looking up, it was Abbendis speaking.

Beside him stood a young human man with long hair playing with a dagger, and a figure shrouded in a red robe floating in midair.

The young man playing with the dagger was none other than Loki.

Although influenced by Josh, Loki had switched to using greatswords years ago, but among those sent by Josh, the best assassin and dagger expert was still him.

He was also the one who had delivered the first dagger strike to Maiev.

As for the red-robed mage, it was the Shadow Weaver, who had been subdued after dealing with the He-Man siblings and the Horde Empire.

This Shadow Weaver was the dark archmage who had once fought Josh when Josh first arrived in that star region. Her strength was second only to Ancient One and Ben.

Moreover, after Ancient One controlled C’thun, she generously “lent” some power to the Shadow Weaver, since the Shadow Weaver’s dark magic perfectly matched the powers of the Old Gods!

The magic formation binding Maiev was also set by her.

“Abbendis, do you even know what you’re doing? The wrath of the Night Elf Empire is not something you can withstand!” The captured Maiev glared fiercely at Abbendis standing in the distance, her eyes almost spewing fire as she warned him.

“Tsk, normally that would be true...But unfortunately, your Night Elf race probably can’t even protect themselves!” Abbendis paid no mind to Maiev’s warning.

Indeed, the Night Elf Empire was powerful, but compared to the Azj’Aqir insect race, they were not strong enough!

If it weren’t for the guardian dragons joining the Sands of Time battle, the Night Elves would never have won, and several dragon kings’ bloodlines were heavily sacrificed.

However, those dragon king bloodlines have now returned to their clans...With them around, news of the Azj’Aqir breaking the seal won’t easily reach the dragon clans.

Plus, now the Azj’Aqir have Master Ancient One command and won’t recklessly rely solely on numerical superiority like in the Sands of Time battle!

“Wait...Damn, you’re the one behind the Ahn’Qiraj incident?” Maiev’s intelligence was impressive.

Just from Abbendis’ comment that the Night Elves might not survive, she immediately connected it to the prior information that the Azj’Aqir had broken the seal.

“Huh, you’re pretty smart, but it doesn’t matter. None of this will concern you anymore!” Abbendis was surprised to be seen through but didn’t care much.

Even before Maiev, all the other Night Elves in the fleet had already been controlled; Maiev was the last one.

And on this vast ocean, he wasn’t worried about the news leaking out.

As for the future...none of these Night Elves, including Maiev, had a future anymore.

“You will pay the price for this!” Hearing Abbendis’ words, Maiev assumed he would kill her to silence her. Knowing she was doomed, she threw out a harsh threat and prepared for the end.

But what awaited her was only a shadow magic from the Shadow Weaver, after which Maiev completely lost consciousness.

Once she was unconscious, Abbendis immediately stored her in the system space.

Kill to silence? What a joke.

Josh had paid a high price for Maiev, even higher than for Vereesa so Abbendis wouldn’t dare kill her.

After dealing with Maiev and the other Night Elves in the fleet, Abbendis’ gaze turned toward the Broken Isles.

…………………………

At the same time, Silithus the Night Elf sentinel army had just arrived on Silithus’ west coast!

Unlike in the game where Silithus is surrounded by mountains and must be approached via the complex route of Tanaris—Un’Goro Crater—Silithus, in the real world, Silithus’ west coast actually has a landing point.

Starting from Feralas’ Feathermoon Fortress, sailing down along the coast leads directly to Silithus.

This was why the Night Elves placed such importance on the Feralas region.

Besides the Cenarion Hold, this was the Night Elves’ second line of defense against the Azj’Aqir.

Compared to resource-poor Silithus, the more hospitable Feralas was clearly the best place to raise troops.

Now the commander of this landing sentinel fleet was Tyrande, who had hurriedly left Dalaran a few days ago.

“Teacher, all troops have landed!” A Night Elf female officer walked up beside Tyrande and reported.

She was Tyrande personal disciple, Shandris Feathermoon, who would later gain great fame in Azeroth.

“Let’s go!” Hearing her disciple’s report, Tyrande nodded and announced departure to continue reinforcing Cenarion Hold.

But just as she finished speaking, a roaring sound came from the sea behind.

Everyone turned around to see their fleet’s ships under unknown attack, some engulfed in raging flames, others reduced to piles of splinters.

Their retreat had been cut off!
