Chapter 330 |
Facing Thor’s sudden loud callout naming Josh and Carol directly, several guards before him were somewhat at a loss.
After all, based on previous visits from Asgard, these guards had the impression that even if Austria and Asgard couldn’t be called allies, they were at least friendly nations.
But now seeing Thor’s aggressive posture, it was obvious he had come looking for trouble!
“Prince Thor, please show some respect in your attitude. Your current behavior is disrupting the court order! If you have an urgent matter, I can relay it to Her Majesty the Queen on your behalf!” a higher-ranking guard stepped forward and said.
“Get out of my way!” But Thor, already riled up, clearly had no intention of wasting words, and violently shoved the man aside.
Though this guard was a divine warrior specially assigned by Josh for Carol, his actual combat level was only that of an ordinary Asgard soldier—no match for Thor at all. Caught off guard, he was pushed flying backwards over ten meters.
Thor’s move utterly enraged all the guards and made them realize the visitor was hostile. Immediately, they drew their weapons in unison, surrounding Thor and his group.
“That’s enough, Thor! You’re really going to start a war like this!” Sif, sensing the danger, stepped forward to try to stop Thor’s reckless actions.
“What? Sif! Which side are you really on?” Thor shouted at her in great dissatisfaction.
“Let go! Thor, you can’t keep going down this wrong path!” Sif broke free from Vandal and continued to reason.
Thor’s face darkened, lightning around him flickering more intensely. If before he was merely agitated, now Sif’s “betrayal” truly angered him.
Noticing Thor’s genuine anger, Hogan and Volstagg hurried forward and finally pulled Sif aside.
“What is the meaning of this, Prince Thor?” At this moment, sparks flashed ahead of Thor’s group as a portal of light appeared. Carol stepped out with several attendants, frowning at Thor, who was surrounded by electric light.
“Hmph, just in time. Didn’t you say you didn’t want to marry into Asgard? Then I’ll just take you back!” Seeing Carol appear, Thor, still furious, immediately changed targets and swung his hammer at her.
Carol’s two maids behind her reacted quickly, blocking in front of her and raising a powerful shield of holy light to block Thor’s path.
At the same time, two other maids’ hands began glowing with magical light, launching spells to attack Thor.
The first two maids were priests cultivated by the elven priest Josh after founding the “Holy Light” church in this world. They were gifted and powerful, far surpassing ordinary divine warriors. As Carol’s attendants, they also served as court priests.
The other two maids were the finest mages trained after the establishment of the Kirin Tor, serving as court magicians. They were proficient in both Azeroth magic and Kamar-Taj magic, and were formidable.
Such a powerful combination showed Josh’s affection for his daughter Carol.
In terms of actual individual strength, even the Three Warriors of Asgard and Sif might not surpass these four.
However, compared to Thor, the destined son of Asgard, their role was mainly to buy time.
Continuous streams of ice and fire magic hit Thor, causing him slight delays and burns but no real harm.
Being blocked and attacked by a group of “mortals” only fueled Thor’s rage, and the lightning around him swelled further.
Swinging his thunder hammer, Thor suddenly transformed into a massive lightning bolt, instantly dispelling all magical hindrances and crashing into the holy light shield.
Under the huge shockwave, the divine shield held for only five seconds before shattering loudly. Two holy light maids coughed up blood and were thrown flying.
Luckily, as priests, their greatest strength was vitality; besides some injuries, they were not in serious condition.
However, Thor’s lightning did not slow and still crashed toward Carol. The two mages tried to cast Mirror Image space but were too inexperienced compared to the Ancient One; before their spells fully formed, they were shattered by the powerful lightning.
Still, Carol remained calm in the face of the thunderous assault.
Not only was she a more powerful mage than the maids, but also a divine descendant blessed by the mother goddess Tiamut. Even the various treasures previously given to her by Josh and Margot protected her from this attack’s harm.
Just as Carol was about to counterattack, she sensed something, smiled faintly, and lowered her casting hands.
Right before the lightning struck Carol, a giant sword descended from the sky, forming a shield larger and more brilliant than the previous holy light shield, firmly protecting Carol inside.
Thor’s lightning could not destroy it!
“Who’s there?” Thor stopped and shouted toward the sky.
Along with his shout, a tall figure radiating golden light descended from the sky, drawing a giant sword and standing firmly in front of Carol.
Seeing this sudden figure, Thor’s group was shocked, especially Sif, whose eyes nearly popped out.
Carol also showed a relieved smile.
Her younger brother had grown up and could protect his sister now!
Indeed, the newcomer was none other than Ben Kane, Josh’s youngest son, whose strength had dramatically changed after acquiring the Barbarian King’s Divine Sword.
He was also the future officially appointed Guardian Deity of the Kingdom of Austria!
Seeing Ben’s imposing aura and energy comparable to Thor’s, Sif and the others could hardly believe this was the same boy they had seen years ago.
But seeing his strong resemblance to Josh and the attitude of the Schönbrunn Palace staff around him, there was no doubt it was truly Ben!
“Lord Thor, withdraw now and I will consider today’s incident as never having happened. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!” Ben glanced briefly at Sif, blocked by the Three Warriors of the Celestial Palace, then at the palace garden badly damaged by Thor, and spoke loudly.
“Hahaha! Little brat, don’t know where you got a divine artifact, now you think you’re something special? I want to see how you’ll be rude to me!” Thor, angered by Ben’s warning, swung his war hammer again and charged, immediately clashing fiercely with Ben!
The huge shockwave swept through the entire Schönbrunn Palace.
Fortunately, the palace’s defense array magicians had long since activated the protective spell, covering most palace buildings.
But the palace’s front garden, now a battlefield, was utterly devastated!
“If Odin doesn’t come up with a reasonable explanation this time, we’re definitely going to have a big fight!” Josh appeared in the garden through another portal, face dark as he looked at the battling Thor and Ben, muttering to himself.
