Chapter 29: You Can Use a Low-Level Fireball Spell Like This?

........

Evelos's mentor stood frozen in place, his eyes locked onto Charis with an unblinking stare.

This was a true genius!

To wield even the simplest Fireball spell to such an extreme degree - he could hardly imagine the destructive power this girl might unleash on the battlefield if she mastered more lethal magic.

...

Holdo and Slynda also gaped in astonishment.

This... was it really resolved so easily? That formidable ice dragon would have smashed a massive hole through the city wall's corner upon impact, Holdo was certain.

Yet Charis had neutralized it with such effortless ease.

He'd thought Charis could already make a significant impact in battle, but now realized he'd underestimated her.

"What kind of monsters has Jonas brought back?" Asher couldn't help exclaiming. He'd initially considered Jonas's plans somewhat fanciful, but after witnessing Olivia and Charis's capabilities, he suddenly felt that given more time, their territory might truly grow powerful enough to expand.

Jonas stood atop the city wall, gazing at the shocked Evelos on the distant platform, the corners of his lips curling into a meaningful smile.

A mere A-rank, daring to challenge an S-rank like Charis?

Moreover, Charis possessed 100% magic affinity.

Evelos and Charis locked eyes across the distance. Evelos gritted her teeth, voice laced with resentment: "You're not from the Empire either. Why help these nobles? Haven't you seen their despicable nature?"

"None of your business."

"It was these very nobles who killed my parents, giving me that tragic past. When they eventually use you up, you'll meet an equally miserable end. People like us should take Destiny as our starting point, igniting the flames of revolution - not join the nobles as their lapdogs."

"Whether Lord Jonas uses me or not - do you think I don't know?" Charis sneered. After reading so many books, she'd come to understand her unique constitution - a Mana Furnace.

100% magic affinity, with the power transferring to a man upon losing her virginity.

Lord Jonas hadn't just saved her from demons - he'd voluntarily removed that slave collar, granting her this freedom. Had he truly coveted or sought to exploit her, she'd have suffered a terrible fate at their first meeting, rather than gaining faith and belonging.

"Don't project your past onto others' lives," Charis said coldly. "Destiny? Lord Jonas is my destiny. What you call Destiny, your so-called uprising, is merely a means to seize power."

Evelos's lips trembled slightly. She wanted to chant stronger spells, to demolish the city walls before her, but found herself powerless. Her magic reserves were depleted.

She could only turn to her mentor: "Master, please intervene. Show no mercy - though talented, she's become the nobles' dog."

Evelos's mentor remained silent, merely taking a single step forward. His profound eyes gleamed with icy light as he slowly raised both hands, tracing complex magical patterns in the air. The surrounding atmosphere began violently churning as immense magical energy coalesced around him, generating powerful gusts that made his robes flap wildly.

In an instant, three colossal ice dragons roared forth from his magic circle, carrying boundless frigid energy and destructive force as they charged toward Charis on the walls.

These three dragons dwarfed the previous one in size, their crystalline bodies carving frozen trajectories through the air.

Seeing them approach, Charis attempted to repeat her earlier solution. She rapidly chanted incantations, releasing Fireball spells that exploded midair - but this time, couldn't melt the dragons as easily.

The power gap was too vast.

Compounded by elemental disadvantage.

The three dragons merely paused momentarily before continuing their assault.

This magic intensity surpassed what skill alone could overcome.

An icy gale rushed toward her.

Charis panicked, instinctively crying out: "Lord Jonas!"

The next instant, Jonas appeared before her, pulling her behind him protectively. Facing the three oncoming dragons, he swept his right hand outward, palm open. Multiple fireballs detonated midair, their explosions magically linking to form a massive flaming vortex.

As the vortex stabilized, the three dragons arrived.

BOOM—

The collision shook the city walls.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK—

The dragons' heads disintegrated first in the flames, massive ice chunks instantly melting into fragments. Their bodies followed, gradually torn apart within the fiery whirlpool. From head to tail, the shattering sounded like ice melting under sunlight - crisp yet piercing.

The enormous dragons, engulfed by flames, seemed to purify the surrounding air itself.

Soldiers watched this spectacle clearly, stunned speechless.

Evelos's mentor's eyes bulged, his entire body numb with shock.

"What?

You can use a low-level Fireball spell like this?"
