Chapter 135: Cheat Code

Carpenter's intention behind his words was still to sway Bai Ye into cooperating with him, to search for the other half of the Ksitigarbha Statue.

He deliberately blocked the sound within the room, reversing parts of the previous scene and displaying it before Bai Ye.

It looked as if Guan Shan had used sweet talk to gain Qing Yi's trust, only to then ruthlessly decapitate the helpless Qing Yi for the prayer beads.

—Carpenter had coveted those prayer beads himself, but Qing Yi's combat ability was far beyond his reach, and his willpower was as firm as a rock. Carpenter could only use the "room" to trap him, hoping he would die naturally.

He tried to convince Bai Ye that the intruder in the "room" was not a savior but another villain, no better than Carpenter himself. The reason Guan Shan spared Lu Mingyi's life was simply to extract information, just as Carpenter had done.

Carpenter coaxed, "If he kills me, you'll be next! You will have created an even worse villain! It would be better to cooperate with me temporarily, kill him together, and then you can wait for a better candidate."

Unexpectedly, Bai Ye didn't fall for it!

Not only did he not fall for it, but he also looked excitedly ready to die!

Even though Carpenter considered himself somewhat of a madman, he couldn't comprehend what was going through Bai Ye's mind.

Why would anyone not fear death? Even wish for it? Just to see "justice" fulfilled?

Carpenter snarled, "Aren't you afraid of creating an even more terrifying villain? Haven't you seen how cruelly he acts? How he treated the monk and those three pitiful people?"

After defeating the monsters, Guan Shan naturally wanted to loot the drops. However, his backpack was full, and some items generated by the simulator might be permanently lost upon settlement, so he thought of a cheat method.

He would ask Lin Shuman what items he actually obtained. If the items were generated from the monsters, he would let Lin Shuman temporarily hold them, preserving them that way.

But this meant exploiting a bug, and he might not be able to put the items back into his backpack.

For maximum benefit, he had no other choice.

So others saw Guan Shan strip everything useful from the bodies after killing them...

It was literally "Guan Shan the Flayer," a scene so brutal that men fell silent and women wept.

But unfortunately, Bai Ye didn't care.

"Pity? They were mere puppets controlled by you. If they had any consciousness, they would surely wish for your death!"

Bai Ye sneered, "Are you crazy? You’re so desperate to team up with me, and you think I'll believe you? Once you're dead, this space will disappear, all the bodies will return to their original rooms, and the Special Security Group will take action. No one will escape."

"A listed Esper is taken very seriously, unlike minor incidents. You should feel honored."

Carpenter, furious, spat, "You! Fine, you think you're invincible? You will all die together! I can find other clues, but you will pay for your arrogance!"

The bloodman vanished like a bubble, just as before.

Bai Ye shrugged and grinned at Guan Shan and the others, "He's desperate."

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The space around them instantly sealed off, even the door Guan Shan had pried open was bricked up again.

The room had no doors!

Simultaneously, copious amounts of blood began to gush from the walls like waterfalls.

This signified that the flow of time in this place had started accelerating rapidly.

"Ah!" Lu Qiuqiu screamed in terror, watching her fair, delicate hands begin to shrivel and tighten.

Lin Shuman had a similar reaction but remained slightly calmer, not descending into continuous panic.

The three logistics team members, prepared for such situations, stayed silent and unmoved.

Guan Shan looked at Bai Ye speechlessly.

So this was the famous "Detective"?

He didn't know whether to admire his fearlessness or question his sanity... Though the boss was sure to use a big move, Bai Ye had chosen to provoke him despite the danger to his own life.

Undeniably, he had a unique personality.

To Guan Shan, Bai Ye appeared as a middle-aged NPC.

【[Bai Ye] ??? (lv.21)】

【HP: 1000】

【Description: A mysterious detective trapped here for a month, erratic but deeply devoted to "justice."】

Wow, right after the Blade-Wielding Monk's level, here's an even higher one.

Judging by his behavior and level, Bai Ye was definitely an Esper, seemingly unaffiliated with the Special Security Group. But his fragility was excessive! A level 21 Esper with the same HP as Guan Shan at level 10 before his breakthrough. How strong could his abilities be? But no matter how strong, it was useless now. They were still trapped here.

Guan Shan extended his hand for a simple introduction.

Bai Ye gripped his hand firmly, shaking it vigorously, marveling as if he had found a rare treasure, "You caused the 'room' such panic. I thought it would be one of the Special Security Group's space experts, but it turns out you're a reporter from Jiang Siyuan Daily. Did you finish investigating those three cases I left half-done?"

"Uh, yes, I did..."

Bai Ye became excited, "Are you interested in joining my detective agency?!"

"What's that... Wait! Now's not the time for this."

Guan Shan pulled his hand back, sighed, and said, "My ability requires the presence of 'doors' to work. This space is completely sealed..."

He trailed off, but everyone understood.

It meant they were all doomed...

The room they were in was a completely enclosed space. Guan Shan had thought the room's end would be where the boss was, but now it seemed otherwise.

Bai Ye calmed down in a second, musing, "I see, 'the room' brought me here to counter your ability. He's not stupid."

Guan Shan was about to speak, but Bai Ye continued, "But all rooms are based on reality. Since 'the room' could replicate this room, it means he has entered before—if he can enter, we can exit."

"A door doesn't have to be a passage; it can be a switch."

Guan Shan watched in awe as Bai Ye muttered to himself, walked around the room, and then squatted by the wall, touching it, "Hmm... looks like it's here. Try prying this spot."

Bai Ye called the others to help press twelve brick spots on the wall, then turned to Guan Shan, "Alright, pry it open. I've 'solved' the puzzle."

He quickly explained, "This should be a mechanism wall. Under the 'room's' influence, even if I unlock the mechanism, the wall won't open. But since you can open all 'doors,' this wall should work too."

Guan Shan stepped forward, thinking Bai Ye's ability wasn't just "solving puzzles." He should be called a cheat code for puzzle games!
