Chapter 98: Stealth

Guan Shan pointed to his patient gown, "I'm here for treatment."

Jiang Siyang was momentarily speechless. Indeed, seeing someone in a patient gown in a hospital was not unusual.

But the problem was... this was Sacred Heart, a mental hospital!

Jiang Siyang looked incredulous, "You're here for treatment?!"

Although he had been hospitalized for a month, he wasn't completely isolated from the outside world. He knew exactly what was happening at the newspaper office.

During his hospital stay, this guy was promoted by Li Zhiying, using the information he left behind to report two big cases in a row. He almost became deputy editor, thriving in his career.

During this time, Jiang Siyang was seething with anger, thinking countless times that if he got out, he would definitely make Guan Shan pay.

Unfortunately... he couldn't get out.

Guan Shan spread his hands, "Why can't I come here for treatment? If I'm sick, I need to get treated, right? The doctors think I'm quite serious. I might have to stay for a while. But what about you, Chief Jiang? You seem to like it here, refusing to leave."

He said this with a sarcastic tone, expecting Jiang Siyang to fly into a rage.

Jiang Siyang did look furious at first, but then he suddenly deflated, took a few deep breaths, and gritted his teeth, "Who wants to stay here! They don't believe me!"

Guan Shan understood, "Seeing ghosts is not something many people would believe."

However... Jiang Siyang, despite being nitpicky, wasn't actually stupid. Why did he get stuck on this point?

It seemed his consciousness was quite clear.

Even if he did see ghosts back then, he could just deny it now.

"I really saw them!"

Jiang Siyang suddenly became agitated, glaring at Guan Shan, "Not just at the newspaper office. There are ghosts in this hospital too! They are haunting me, not letting me leave!"

Guan Shan sighed. It seemed his condition was quite severe.

Seeing Guan Shan's disbelief, Jiang Siyang sneered, "I know you're not here for treatment. I personally reviewed those documents. Do you think I wouldn't know?"

"Stay here. You'll see them eventually, and then you won't be able to leave."

Jiang Siyang spoke with certainty, but Guan Shan thought he was talking nonsense.

Besides, how scary could it be compared to the simulator?

"It seems the doctor was right to keep you here for treatment. I hope you recover soon, Chief Jiang. I'll be going now."

Guan Shan waved and continued towards the convenience store.

"Hey..."

Seeing Guan Shan's lack of interest in his words and turning to leave, Jiang Siyang's sneer finally cracked.

He intended to pique Guan Shan's curiosity, then talk to him, using both threats and inducements, and ultimately... seek help.

However, Jiang Siyang forgot that he was now considered a mental patient.

Indeed, he was truly trapped in this hospital.

He had tried asking people who visited him for help, but without exception, either they didn't believe him, or they were stopped by his family and the so-called "master."

Guan Shan's appearance gave him new hope.

Although this guy was annoying, his abilities were undeniable. He might really be able to help him...

But the problem was, Guan Shan held a grudge against him.

Now, for Jiang Siyang to swallow his pride and beg Guan Shan was impossible. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, "I need to think of a way..."

In the convenience store, Guan Shan showed no signs of being a patient, happily shopping.

After all... all the expenses for this undercover mission in the hospital would be covered by President Li.

He might as well treat it as a different kind of vacation.

Guan Shan turned and asked Li Hong, "The patient in the next room, has he always been like this? He was my superior. I heard he was hospitalized, but I didn't know his condition was this serious."

Li Hong shook her head, "Not really. When he first came in, he actually improved for a while, saying he hadn't seen any more ghosts and even completed discharge procedures."

"But on the day of discharge, he claimed to see ghosts again and ran back to his room. Gradually, his condition worsened."

"On the day of discharge?" Guan Shan pondered. It seemed Jiang Siyang had indeed tried to deny it.

But why did he relapse suddenly?

Guan Shan thought the "master" must be involved.

After shopping, Guan Shan went to the restroom, conveniently passing by the target patient's room.

In the following days, Guan Shan would come out once a day. After discussing with Lu Qiuqiu, Li Hong no longer accompanied him every time.

But high-risk patients were rarely allowed out. After several days with no results, Guan Shan planned to sneak over at night.

One day, Guan Shan went to the convenience store as usual. While checking out, he noticed a patient in a straitjacket on a wheelchair, pushed by a doctor across the lawn.

Guan Shan raised an eyebrow and pretended to browse, "That seems to be... Xu Rong?"

Xu Rong was his main investigation target this time, both a murderer and a mental patient.

Of course, his mental illness was still in question.

"Finally ran into him."

Guan Shan thought his luck was good, casually wandering around the store, observing the two from different angles.

The patient's "outdoor time" was quite long. The doctor pushed Xu Rong around the lawn but did nothing else.

Xu Rong, restrained by the straitjacket, couldn't move at all. His eyes were devoid of any spirit.

After over ten minutes of observation, Guan Shan felt disappointed and thought he'd have to wait for another chance. Then he noticed the doctor suddenly reach out, as if dusting off Xu Rong, and touch his waist down to his inner thigh.

"What?" Guan Shan was shocked.

The action lasted only a moment before the doctor resumed his normal posture.

But Guan Shan was sure he didn't see wrong. The action was too deliberate, though quick and discreet. Guan Shan's dynamic vision was good enough to see it clearly.

Guan Shan watched as the two returned to the building, feeling a chill.

"It seems... the problem isn't with Xu Rong but with that doctor."

He asked Lu Qiuqiu about the doctor's office and daily routine. He learned that this doctor, Xiang Wen, spent about three hours each night in Xu Rong's room for psychological treatment.

"Hopefully, it's not what I think."

Guan Shan thought silently.

He was now outside Xu Rong's room, using his strength to cling to the wall like Spider-Man.

In two minutes, the patrolling security would pass by.

The room's window had burglar bars and was tightly locked.

Guan Shan looked at it and pried it open with his hands.

He opened the window, jumped in, and replaced the bars. Xu Rong, lying on the bed, stared at him in disbelief.

Guan Shan ignored him. Timing Xiang Wen's arrival, he stood behind the door.

"Knock, knock."

A knock sounded. Xiang Wen opened the door, smiled at Xu Rong, "Good evening, my patient."
