Chapter 78: My Physical Hacks

"A demon blade?"

Guan Shan raised an eyebrow as he looked at the simulator's prompt.

The only so-called "demon blades" he had heard of were the Yingzhou demon blades "Muramasa" and "Murasame."

It was said that "Muramasa" brought death and misfortune, while "Murasame" would condense water droplets to cleanse the blood off its blade after killing someone.

In short, they were definitely cursed and had very eerie effects.

"So, from this perspective, having the name of a demon blade likely means the finished product will also have some negative effects, but its power should be impressive."

Guan Shan was filled with anticipation for the product of the [Furnace Core]. After all, it was a drop from the final boss of the breakthrough mission and should be more powerful than the weapons he currently had.

Using his current weapon to fight monsters required betting on critical hits. If it didn't crit, he was just scratching the enemy.

Pretty miserable.

"It will take three days... We'll have to wait for the police to find out about Han Ying and her daughter. There shouldn't be anything pressing to do now."

Guan Shan sat down on the floor next to the [Furnace Core], leisurely crossing his legs as he began to sort through his backpack.

"Let me see... the newly acquired [Soul Capture Bell] and [Reaper's Finger Bone], one is a special item for spirit attacks, and the other is an instant death item..."

Guan Shan paused, then was stunned, "Instant death???"

[Reaper's Finger Bone (1/1)]

[Effect: Upon use, the first target touched within 3 levels of the user dies instantly.]

[Description: A single poke to end you.]

"A divine weapon, truly!"

Guan Shan felt like he had drawn a golden legend, marveling, "No wonder this dungeon run gave three rewards—and I even lost one due to 'bumping around.'"

"It seems the main attraction is here."

Although the level restriction might mean it couldn't affect bosses, elite monsters generally wouldn't exceed a 3-level difference.

This means this item could directly clear an elite monster, significantly saving time and resources.

Guan Shan took out the three-piece set, the [Broken Metal Plate], and the [Sage's Pocket Watch] which had a 14-day cooldown from his backpack, placing them in the warehouse.

The backpack slots became [10/16], much roomier now.

He allocated the skill point to [Rotted Flesh Accumulation], improving his survival ability. The passive health boost increased to 25%, bringing his health cap to 4837.

Since learning skills also required skill points, he didn't purchase anything from the shop this time.

Guan Shan locked the warehouse and went home.

Shen Dinghua had already packed and left, and the house became quiet once more.

However... this was the atmosphere Guan Shan was accustomed to.

Since high school, it had always been this way.

Cooking alone, working alone, living alone.

After dinner, Guan Shan rarely had free time to play some games—by the way, he used to love playing horror games.

But recently, since he could play them anytime to the point of vomiting, he switched to CS: GO. With his current reaction time and hand speed, playing these games was like bullying rookies.

But that was the goal... headshot after headshot, very stress-relieving!

After winning 11 games effortlessly, an opponent with an anime avatar and the ID [Cool and Flat Yukinoshita] thought he was hacking, not only threatening to report him but repeatedly emphasizing it.

Guan Shan simply chased this guy down, and the person eventually logged off. When they came back, they said angrily, "You started it!"

Then shot him, killing Guan Shan's character instantly.

Guan Shan raised an eyebrow, nearly laughing out loud. Well, well, an aimbot that locks onto heads. You’re even worse than the simulator! But in games... as long as the hack wasn't too extreme, it could be countered with reaction time and hand speed.

Guan Shan decided not to hold back. After respawning, with only one teammate left, he pulled off a reverse sweep, taking down five opponents.

For the next four rounds, he continued the same way, mercilessly killing both the hacker and regular players, making them look like idiots.

Regardless of how the opponents felt, Guan Shan was thoroughly enjoying himself.

It was exhilarating.

Guan Shan removed his headset, stretched, and sighed, "Ah... if only the simulator could let me have this much fun."

But that's impossible; everything comes at a cost. In the game, he bullied players; in the simulator, monsters bullied him.

After logging off, Guan Shan received a friend request from [Cool and Flat Yukinoshita].

Out of boredom, Guan Shan accepted.

[Cool and Flat Yukinoshita]: How did you do it, beating a hack?

Guan Shan was a bit surprised; he expected the guy to come over and curse him out, but instead, he was asking for advice.

[Mountain Beyond Mountains]: I wasn't hacking? I just had a better hack.

[Cool and Flat Yukinoshita]: Don't tease me. I was wrong. I just had someone check. You're a true pro, not a hacker. I couldn't see it before.

[Mountain Beyond Mountains]: I was really hacking.

[Cool and Flat Yukinoshita]: Really, don't tease me. You're not a hacker.

[Mountain Beyond Mountains]: You can't see it because I use physical hacks, outside the game.

[Cool and Flat Yukinoshita]: ?????

Guan Shan laughed at the string of confused question marks and, seeing it was getting late, logged off the game.

After washing up, he returned to his bedroom, sat at his desk, and opened the curtains.

He saw that the light in the villa across the street was on, and after a few seconds, the curtains opened, revealing Shen Dinghua in her pajamas, waving her small hand with a smile. She then looked down and fiddled with her phone.

Guan Shan instinctively took out his phone and saw a message.

[Winter Daphne]: Look at me.

Guan Shan looked up.

Shen Dinghua leaned close to the window, fogging up the glass with her breath, forming a white mist.

She used her finger to draw a small heart on it.

Then she looked at Guan Shan, smiling brightly, and mouthed, "For you."

Her gaze was more tender than the stars in the sky.

The starlight might be obscured, but Shen Dinghua's gaze would always follow Guan Shan.

Guan Shan thought that under this gaze, even if he was alone, he was never truly lonely.
